I was wondering, the english voice actors in this are not the ones that I have on my Animeigo DVD. Is this a dub from a different region or what? First time I saw this anime, I seriously remember hearing this dub with Kusimoto speaking some sort of accent. I dunno, it was awhile ago . . .
wow, animation is actually really good, might check it out. shows clear how bland animation on current shows is, dont make em like this anymore.. too expensive i guess..
just had dinner. can of olives. can of black eyed peas. jar of cherries. handful of cranberries. colossal protein shake. 2 ginseng capsules. multivitamin. glutamine capsule. flax oil capsules. fish oil capsules. good stuff.
@rungettothechoppa I accomplish nothing except for the small satisfaction of having 155 people clicking it and a mutual reminder some people still like Maddox enough to click his news which in turn links to this.
Why would i spend time replying? Fuck if I know, but that didn't stop you from doing it anyway.
@Link8312 Yeah, Urban combat is pretty well the only application I see power armour being viable for, none of this wasting tanks in an open plain nonsense, but being deadly in such confined areas? maybe.
Realistically however I see Power Armour being used more for room clearance and heavy lifting than attacking tanks.
You simply cannot beat the look and feel of 80's science fiction when it comes to anime. Dominion/New Dominion Tank Police, MADOX-01, Dirty Pair, Bubblegum Crisis...all that awesome animation.
Open that thing's console, I wanna see what language it's OS is written in.
@AlchemistiD Lets not forget Macross, VOTOMS, and Gundam and a handful of others from say the mid eighties to mid to late nineties. To me, those are the best.
Yeah, Kevin Long had a penchant for lifting designs from other sources. A not so subtle copy of Tekkaman Axe is in the NGR Sourcebook, as well as designs lifted from Bubblegum Crisis and the works of Masamune Shirow. The Glitterboy's famous Boom Gun is really the main weapon of the FAZZ Gundam.
one of the most influential mechanical design animes ever i think, depsite how lame the actual story itself is. that suit is like the real suits they still havent quite made. but they will, oh they will. its a scary thought really.
Oh, but you know you want a MADOX. Just to have an awesome time like Kouji did.
Kind of a shame that modern anime mechanical design isn't the same caliber anymore. Seems there's a lot of copying and cloning, if you look closely at the parts.
I understand some of the crew that produced the Bubblegum Crisis OVAs were in on this..in fact, in "scoop chase", Makie has a MADOX-class suit of his own (a 4th-gen version)
This is a classic in my book, one of my First Japanime. The entire plot is comical yet the action is kickass. Also, the tank the guy in the robot suit who's stuck in it while trying to meet with his girlfriend is hunted down by the military and a crazed Tank pilot.
hahaha! yeha, that is so true, I have a record player at home, and most of the kids don't know what they are. I show them my NES, record playe,r and some are shocked that Ninja Turtles are an old cartoon, same goes for anime, especialy the ones that never made it into the US until recently.

@Link8312 Yeah, it would get it's ass handed to it by the Tanks in open combat though.
Perion 8 months ago
@Perion Yep, clearly a case of using the wrong tool for the wrong job. You don't attack a town with tanks unless it's to level it *before* you enter.

That's what happens when one charges in tanks in built up areas without combined arms support
US Army? They looked more like T-72s with T-62 turrets and the formation in the beginning was a distinctive Soviet three tank platoon!

I'm pretty sure they were referring to the tank crew inside the sim-tanks

One of my all-time favourite anime. Just wish I could find it again. I haven't seen this in probably 15 years.
And if anyone who plays Rifts ever wondered where they got the basic design for the SAMAS power armour... :-)
There's one in a Rifts supplement, as well, that's even closer in design to the MADOX.
IsawaMitaka 2 years ago
the SAMAS has always been one of my favorites.
Triax's robot is modeled after the Madox II too
empyreanlc 2 years ago
Thank you! The Triax one is the one I was thinking of, but it's been so long since I played, I couldn't remember who made it.

The makers make what they'd want to watch, so in a way yeah hahah.
It's too bad though this sort of thing isn't made anymore.

i agree. also one of my first.
rewatching them now make me appreciate them more. they seem to have more detail or stylized lines.
Battle Angel Hokuto no Ken are other examples
Or maybe because it's anime prior to it being hugely popular
it's funny when I mention anime no one knows because they were made before they were even born
