@scorpioswrath Yeah, he did look like Handsome Jimmy. In fact, when Ferris turned heel, it was because he'd been haning with Valiant and copying some of valiant's style and it pissed Jerry Lawler off.
I love Southern style. I'm Canadian, as a much as I loved Calgary Stampede back in the day, there is something about old school Southern style that I love. I think it's the in-match storytelling in just about every match.
Wayne Faris went to wrestle in Puerto Rico as Dangerous Danny Condrey & was the tag partner of Dirty Dutch. Both won the North American tag titles from the Invaders. Wayne also won the Caribbean Heavyweight Title from Chief Jay Strongbow.
Does anyone remember a wrestler from the USWA who as part of his wrestler name was called "The Romantic"? He was blonde and wore black and white trunks.
This is maybe 80 or 81? Honky Tonk Man went to WWF in 1986. Vince and Pat didn't come up with the Honky Tonk Man, though they certainly did a lot to promote him. Wayne Ferris was already wearing the suits and wrestling as Honky Tonk Wayne before he went there. He worked on his character in Alabama and Canada for a couple of years before going to WWF.
@mamacornettesmoney you are correct, Ferris was using the name "punk rock" wayne ferris in the southeastern area of alabama, and was in a fued with Austin Idol, and Idol "knocked" him out, and spray painted a black streak down his hair and nicknaming him"skunk rock"...and ferris dyed is hair black , and started the "HTM" ring style....
Koko's dropkick was the absolute BEST in the business. Jacques Rougeau and Johnny Wilhoyt had good ones, too. Ahh, the memories.

After looking up for some information on the internet, Dutch & Wayne/Danny Condrey won the Norht American tag belts from Carlos Colon & Jose Rivera

As an ironic update, Wayne Ferris will be inducting Koko Ware into the 2009 class of the WWE Hall of Fame.

The HTM character was developed during Ferris's time in Calgary.

I think he actually first started developing it in Southeastern (which became Continental), then he went to Stampede and Vancouver with it.
