@jonmorry333Hey Now! I love the AR-15 because its lighter and more effective at 300 yards. But you know what i like EVEN more? Thats the Springfield M1A. Its effective to 800 yards and shoots a bigger bullet than the AR and the AK-47. Don't judge all AR fans cause we like less recoil judge us when or if you out shoot us.

@wigtrimer LOL Like I said before "It's a gun shoot it ". Just for your info the m1a does not shoot a bigger bullet than the AK and if you can shoot out to 800 yards hurray for you . I don't ever see myself shooting at anything past 200 yards, it will probably be less than 50 but that's just me I guess .

Since I've never ever seen any videos of anyone shooting an AK47 or AK74 past 50/100 meters I just figured they were shooting only short range. They are not that accurate past 150 meters. 5-6" groups on average.

did you try the accuracy between the ak-74 and ar-15 at 200 yards? Which one does better grouping, and be honest please.

AR is more (about 30%) accurate, BUT:

- AR is (25%) heavier

- AR is more difficult to shoot standing

- AR is too sensitive to any pressure on its mag

- AR can only show SIGNIFICANT difference in accuracy if fed good (expensive) ammo

I love shooting both rifles, but should I pick a rifle for a battle, I am an AK man.

the 30% you mentioned, is that with the cheep ammo? Thous making the Ar-15 more accurate then 30% with expansive ammo.

And was that 30% with the same length barrel?

I never heard of people taking about accuracy presentage wise, so lets see if I got this right.

If the AR-15 deflects from the target 7 inches at 200 yards then the ak-74 will deflect 10 inches. Let me know if I got this right.

FYI, there is NO AK-74u, but there are:

AK-74 -- wood or plastic non-folding stock 16inch barrel

AKS-74U -- also called Krinkov (don't ask me why...)

AK-74M -- modern AK with plastic side folding stock.

i dont have my military gun book on me but i think if there is an ak-74u then it has a grib under the sights, but i think he ment ak-47u, if it is 74 then if i remember corectly it was designed to be like the usa m-4 but less accurate when standing and crouching, but does more damage *reminder i dont have my book with me today. but ill get the info whenever

the germans loved them because their lousy kar 98 were very unpopular. the russians were stupid enough to lose a lot of them to the germans because the conscripts couldn´t use them properly and the germans advanced quickly. basically it´s as good as a gewehr 43.

The Kar 98k was not unpopular. The Germans took the SVT-40 and used it themselves because if you happen to be in a fire fight, moving the bolt after every shot isn't as good as being able to pull a trigger without using a bolt.

They were both popular. The SVT-40 was only liked because of its semi-automatic capabilities.

ok. but the germans had the gewehr 43 as a reaction, they soldiers were annoyed that the russian had svt 40s and they had to use kar 98k or the thompson, which is most likely not very usefull in medium/long ranges.

they had the gewehr 41 first, but that one was very unpopular.

Did I read that comment correctly? You obviously don't know what you are talking about, because anyone who did would know that the Germans never, ever issued the Thompson to their troops. The Thompson is an American weapon! Perhaps you meant to say the MP40? The Germans decided to make their own semi-automatic rifles because they saw the potential in such a weapon, the example being the SVT-40. The Gewehr 41 was unpopular because it was complicated, hard to produce, and unreliable.

umm dude...the first bolt action weapon was made by the germans, and they made the first assult riffle, and some historians believe the 1st submachine gun was made in germany.....so i agree with u that they didnt have the tommy gun...

No, the Italians beat the Germans to the first sub machine gun by only two months in 1918. The Italian OVP sub machine gun was pressed into service two months before Germany's MP18 could see use with the Stormtroopers in 1918. The SVT-40 isn't exactly a common weapon. Be prepared to pay over at least a $1000. I have never actually seen one in person.

Very nice man, When I first went to the range I double tapped my AK 3 times(duhduh...duhduh...duhduh­) and some rednecks were shooting bolt action 7mm magnums. After I did the little double tap thing I hear one of them say...Oh he must have one of them fancy self reloading guns. lol

My first time at the gun range with my new Ak, shooting for the first time was awesome!!

SVT target was at 200yds shot at standard 100yds target.

AK-74 standing at 50yds. When shooting from the bench, same size groups on 100 and just a bit wider on 200yds. Still up to 200 yds all in the chest (unless I mess up).

Next time will put Kobra red dot on it, similar to the one I had on the AR that day.

God damn Vector F.A., they really screwed up the rail. I mean they did put in it, but none of the Russian and Belorussian scopes that I have (7 of them) would fix sturdy on the damn thing... The rail is too "skinny" I did buy new rail for it, but didn't visit my gunsmith yet.

On my AK-74 it shoots pretty good though ;-))

In any event, even with just irons RPK keeps surprising me with the kind of accuracy you can get from a Kalashnikov. 20inch barrel is THE SHIT :-}
