    Drop one or more mentos into the coke and a chemical reaction makes all the bubbles in the coke expand thus creating the "thrust".

  • Loosen the cap a bit. When we did this, we close it tight, then loosen it just before the pressure inside is strong enough to burst the cap off the rest of the way. And make sure there is enough pressure by keeping it in the foil wrapper. and putting it in, then shaking it up. It reacts later, so it stays contained in the bottle more.
