you'd like to think you're promoting bicycling, when in fact you are antagonizing other people who need to use the road. If you want to promote bicycling, you need to show people that you can share the road. Instead, you're painting cyclists as a bunch of arrogant asses. You're not going to get things like bike lanes and and cyclist awareness from a community that you piss off every month.

@VortexEater Hi! Bike lanes ARE being installed throughout L.A. Every resident I've met prefers slow moving bikes to speeding cars in their neighborhood. Children are safe & zero pollution. The 1000x cars blocking Hollywood blvd do not "need" to go anywhere. Emergency vehicles have no problem responding to calls. Join the LAPD and other community stakeholders at next month's Critical Mass. Experience for yourself the overwhelming positive impact the ride has on the hearts & minds of the all.

@G2340mm The last Friday of every month in over 100 cities around the world, cyclists, roller bladers, boarders, etc...come together for a festive rolling celebration. It's an organized coincidence with no leaders and no set agenda. People come together for many reasons, to assert their right to cleaner air, less congestion, safer roads, and to celebrate and ride in solidarity with other cyclists and like minded individuals. Celebrate this month with Critical Mass!

I have seen many times where you people disregard for the cars. there is proper ways of doing this. I hope you guys find a better ways to do your mass cycling, gatherings. good luck and abide by the street laws just like the cars. respect that.

@plutoplatters there are bicyclists who get hit by cars. A few months ago, a rider was hit locally and the driver fled.

If you want to make a joke about being seen you sure can, but being seen as a bicyclist is a serious issue.

I'd do a critical mass, but as someone who owns a road bike I'd prefer to go fast enough through traffic in a giant peloton =)

Basically a bunch of snooty hipsters who take it upon themselves to make a statement about riding a bike in the city by clogging up the streets and holding up traffic. Recently in Brazil some driver got fed up with it and plowed through the bikers. I think this needs to happen more often.

@KiloByte69 Nah im no hipster, you are assuming that the 15% of the crowd that are hipsters make up the whole crowd, in fact you can be far from it. Most of the people that come out are people on regular bikes from beach cruisers to mountain bikes. I join the ride to have the fun of being able to ride through downtown LA knowing that I can ride safely knowing motorists wont be driving erratically trying to hit me like they normally do. I always obey all laws when riding normally might I add

@G2340mm To ride with some a-hole fixie riders that do wheelies, no brake & swerve without care, to ride without crash & fall to the finish line. It's fun too. It is really to demonstrate cagers to watch the damn road, get annoyed & know that they don't own the road but I think motorcyclists need this more than cyclists. I personally don't ride my bike to the far road (beyond the parking/bike lane) anyway but would later own a motorcycle & then have to worry about these damn cagers.
