  • the powersonic & powerstroke pro are ideal for larger bass drums, such as 24 or 26"..on smaller kicks, they take away the resonance, and low end "boom" many drummers look for..i use a powerstroke 3 clear on my 18" Sonor 2007 birch shell kick and it sounds like a cannon ! it has just the right amount of resonance and low end "boom" suited for all bass drums of all sizes and is the most popular model within the drumming world..however, it's matter of opinion and what YOU like in terms of sound!

  • The secret to the "click" sound from the kick doesn't come from the plastic part of the beater, it comes from the head being very loose. When the head is very loose, it doesn't matter if you use the felt side or the plastic side, they both will sound really good. And like everybody else is saying, the Superkick II is basically the perfect kick head.

  • You can't go wrong with a Superkick II. Add a Danmar kick pad and it'll give you that clicky metal sound you're looking for.

  • @konarider I would personally use a Gibraltar click pad but I've heard good things about the Danmar pads aside from frequent complaints about how they don't stay on drumheads for long. I recently upgraded my drum set and now use two 22" kick drums that have the Aquarian Regulator resonant heads and the Superkick II kick heads with Aquarian kick patches. They have a nice balance between punch and click when it comes to the tone, they're on a set of Pearl Export drums.

  • @WhenxChristxReturnsx As opposed to other pads i've used I will admit they don't last as long, but they produce a particular sound that I just can't find in any other pad. I unfortunately had to move on to an electric kit, so I have no need for a pad; for sound reasons that is. Btw the Superkick II is THE best bass drum head ive ever used.

  • @konarider I have enjoyed the SK II more than any kick heads I've tried, although I have only tried an Evans EQ3 and the Remo Powersonic head in this video. But I do love the tone of the SK IIs coupled with the Regulator resonant heads and Aquarian kick patches, very punchy and aggressive sound.

  • Awesome dude :D sounds powerful and punchy!

  • @CGDrummer96 Yeah it's not too bad, but I've had this on my mind a lot for the past month or so. The tone this combination makes really isn't for me. I want that death metal kind of bass sound, a really high-pitched click type of sound, so I'm thinking I may switch to a Remo Powerstroke 3 or an Aquarian Superkick II head.

  • @WhenxChristxReturnsx dood go for the superkick II thats a perfect head for that. and dood if you want that really clicky sound get the gibraltar click pad ;) it works great! or you can get the iron cobra wood beaters :) both are really great

  • @CGDrummer96 Awesome! I'll definitely keep that in mind. I also use my bass pedal beaters backwards for more volume and to get a clickier sound.

  • @WhenxChristxReturnsx awesome dude :) dude i just uploaded painkiller!!!

  • @CGDrummer96 Superkick 2 all the way. Powerstroke 3s are way too boomy for metal unless you use a pillow. No pillow is needed with the superkick and without a pillow you can get much more attack with the right tuning.

  • @alcoholocaust I use Superkick 2's, absolutely love them. I especially enjoy being able to getting all the muffling I need between that head and the Aquarian Regulator resonant heads, there's a lot more tone and power in a kick drum when there's no pillows or blankets in it.

  • @alcoholocaust I don't seem to understand why people think boomy bass drums are bad. You realize that a bass drum with no muffling and a little bit of resonance will sound a HELL of a lot heavier than a completely muffled head right? I've tried the Superkick heads, and hate them. WAY too much muffling for me. Best sound I've ever gotten was from a clear P3, tuned a little bit above the lowest note it produces, and a medium tight reso without a port.

  • @XxStrongDrums1996xX Some people just don't like the extra resonance. I know I don't. But it's all a matter of personal preference :)
