  • Hey there Ishan, nice video. How do I clean my pipes if I do not have access to drinking alcohol? Some people suggest rubbing alcohol (medical spirit), but I'm not comfortable with the idea of using a potentially poisonous material in my pipe. What would you suggest?

  • @aybewhy :drinking alcohol is the best or a 99% alcohol spirit like Isopropyl alcohol or Rubbing alcohol will work fine too.the alcohol evaporates so its not poisonous.if you need any other help my friend just drop me a PM.

    cheers!

  • I use clean and cure because it is cheap.

  • @talitim :Greetings my friend what do you mean by cure?

  • @MrBlink182ishi It is a product called clean and cure.

  • Gidday Ishi!

I'm in the middle of working through cleaning all of my briars. Cool to see your methods :)

    Take it easy mate,

    ~Nick

  • @41DegreesSouth :i hope i can give you some insight....lol

    good day mate!

  • Only been smoking pipes now for a good few months , great tips , thanks

  • @MultiMutznutz :im glad you got some insight.....keep tuned in my friend!

    cheers!

  • Two things, 1st, I finally got off my lazy arse and posted that long ago package off to you last Wednesday. 2nd, watching someone use a washed and re-used pipe cleaner is an affront to civilised pipe smoking behaviour, if I'd seen it before I sent the package I would have bought a couple of packs of cleaners and added them to the box. As it is, I hope others will include some when they send a package, and next time I order something online I'll try and remember to buy some and post them off

  • @terryloveuk :firstly WOW WEEEE!.......IM ECSTATIC!......I CANT WAIT TO RECEIVE THEM.....IM LIKE A LITTLE KID ON A SUGAR RUSH!.....i hope there's a return address for me to send you your share of our trade which i have not forgotten!

thank you so much...will do a box opening as soon as i get them!

  • @MrBlink182ishi Don't get too excited, I don't think there's anything spectacular in the box, no tobacco as my stocks are low and I didn't want to risk you getting clobbered for tax. I have ordered some pipe cleaners though and will post them off shortly after they arrive.

  • @terryloveuk :its a good thing you didnt put any tobacco, that way they cant tax me for a thing in that box.....but im still excited about the pipes......as you know theres no way except antique shop hunting for me to get pipes....your too kind about the pipe cleaners too my friend!......counting the days for the package to get to me....

  • Great tips there my friend, love a nice shiny pipe :) All the best, Johnny

  • @Yorkshirepipensnuff :thank you buddy!

  • These are some awesome tips. Thanks for sharing.

  • @criticsview :my pleasure my friend.....!

    cheers!

  • I use Himalayan mountain goat urine to sweeten the bowls... NO.. just kidding... Que Tips are less expensive here also but I like the bigger surface area of pipe cleaners. You got the Hugh Hefner look going there...hehehe. Great video bud!

  • @1fatbastard :ha ha ha....sadly the hefner looks not working on the sri lankan chicks.....lol

will have to try some of that Himalayan mountain goat urine

  • @MrBlink182ishi Its not the look that works fior hef on women its the money :)

    Cheers

    Bob

  • @1fatbastard Isnt that the same goat urine the great beer champions from Germany drink to prepare for BeerFest? lol

    Cheers

    Bob

  • When you rub in the aloe vera or olive oil let it sit for 30 minutes before wiping off

    Cheers

    Bob

  • @Knightdor :thank you bob....i will be doing that as soon as i go home!

  • +1 on a good strong kitchen towel dipped in alcohol to clean the bowl much quicker!!

  • @herrflick99 Hey there...was talking to Ishi and noticed your comment about towels instead of q tips...I also use a rolled up paper towl dipped in rum or whiskey for inside the bowl...its much faster and you get more rum/whiskey flavor soaked into your bowl....course I smopke mainly cobs and do this every time...with briars I only do inside the bowl after every 7-8 smokes tolet the cake build

    Cheers

    Bob

  • @herrflick99 :yes this sounds a good idea too,i will be giving this a try too!

  • Nice info Ishi!

  • @smokeyjoetn :thank you sir!

  • clarification question. Is it 2 parts Carnuba wax 1 part olive oil (as you said in the video) or 2 part oil, 1 part wax(as in the description). Excellent tips and tricks. Thanks for posting this. Gregg

  • @truckpipe :i part carnuba wax to 2 parts olive oil, depending on the density of the carnumba wax you might have to add a dribble more to get it into a balm consistency....works like a dream to polish your pipes and stems

  • Hi Ishan,

for the stem it's often enough to use some tooth paste with an old tooth brush. Then some olive oil for the polishing. :) From time to time I'm also using shiners (for finger nails) for polishing the stem. It works fine as well. or the bowl I'm using my electric pipe tools.

    Cheers

    Lars

  • @larshermanns :speaking of electric pipe toools im thinking of getting my self a electric buffer to polish my pipes....still in the thinking stages.....

  • Good stuff ishi - I do everything you do (q-tips rock!) except the carnuba - which i need to start pronto!!

  • @MojoMilt :yep till you find carnuba try the lip balm, and then make the recipy with carnuba and olive oil

  • I'm surprised the hand sanitizer doesn't dry out your softy bits. I might try that out. Good video Ish!

  • @TheWanderingRecluse :nope the softys are just fine! give it a try!

  • Now that was worth the watch my friend. Loads of good nfo, thanks so much for posting it!

  • @kb1nyd :glad i could be of help my friend! give it a try and see!

    cheers!

  • Hi my friend I will give your way a try mate very interesting video mate take care~mark

  • @pipesmoker1969 :hey there Mark, yep just give this way a try and see whether it works for you my friend!

    cheers

  • Thanks for showing us how you clean your pipes. Very interesting

  • @PAPIPEGUY :im glad you enjoyed it mike....hope alls well...please make a vid showing how you clean your pipes

  • fastinating and very informative, I will give your way a try. Thanks for sharing.

  • @MrJmcn123 :yep just give this cleaning method a try.....it cleans every part of the pipe 100%

  • Stem. Polish. Recipe?

A million and one uses for saliva. ...

Ish - I learn more on your channel than I do on any other! : D

  • @MB7jazz :AND MORE THE REASON FOR YOU TO PIC UP A PIPE AND START SMOKING,as a non smoker you now know more about pipes than some veterans here....time to get some baccy and a pipe and start the hobby

  • @MrBlink182ishi Hobby? It's a lifestyle! I mean, my God, you clean your pipes more often than I play with my kitties!

  • @MB7jazz :ha ha ha ha....you crack me up good my friend....SERIOUSLY!.....LOL

  • Very informative! Good job, Ishi!

  • @StogieFarts :thank you my friend!

  • But then again I smoke my cobs alot more often then I smoke my briars...cobs really should be cleaned after every smoke sincwe you dont want to build cake in a cob...as compared to a briar where you want to build cake...

    Cheers

    Bob

  • @Knightdor :do you clean the inside of every cob bowl with alcohol or just brush it? i have been smoking the barrel shaped cob pipe alot lately and have noticed some hair lined fractures near the stem...is that normal?

  • @MrBlink182ishi I clean inside the bowl with a rolled up paper towel sheet soaked in rum after EVERY smoke...I dont use the q tip the way you do insiode the bowl but I suppose that would work as well.Yes the small fractures are somewhat normal...easy fix...or at least a easy way to slwo down damage.Take some hand lotion with aloe vera and rub it into the outside of the bowl and around the stem. The olive oil lip balm mix you use on your stems should work as well

    Bob

  • @Knightdor :thanks bob....i will do that immediately!

  • @MrBlink182ishi I hope it works well with your cob...let me know

    Cheers

    Bob

  • Your process is a little longer then mine but then again I clean after ever single smoke...my process is a bit faster as a result....you can refer to my video ...cleaning after every smoke....a few videos back....but all in all a very useful video...thanks for sharing Ishi

    Take care

    Bob

  • @Knightdor :im glad you enjoyed this vid bob....i clean my pipe like this after every 2-3 bowls and then i set it aside for the next pipe in my rotation

  • @MrBlink182ishi Well alot of what I know I learned from the Cobfather on tampandpuff and his corncob primer....as well as a bunch of other places on the net.I may smoke teh same cob 5-6 times a day or I may switch off but each time I clean the inside of the bowl and the shank and stem

    Cheers

    Bob

  • @Knightdor :thanks for the info bob...now your the godfather of cobs....you have taken over the reigns......lol

  • @MrBlink182ishi LOL well John has many many years experiance with cobs over me...but thank you for teh vote of confidance

  • Good video. I also use the Q-Tip/Saliva trick lol. Works great!

  • @ThePirateCritic :yes it works the best i heard using a little hand sanitizer on a q-tip does an equally good job! must give it a try

  • Thanks for sharing your process. I would have never thought to use q-tips or chap stick(lip balm).

  • @FarmyJoe76 :q-tips are cheaper and do just as good job as the pipe cleaners! give them a try,lip balm really makes the stem black and protects it!

  • Good to see you mate.

  • @Milverton68 :you too my friend!

  • Good job, Mr. B. You know I've used the hand sanitizer to clean carbon off the rim of the bowl and it works. I know there's a some alcohol in it, but I haven't lost stain color, if you were wondering.

  • @jumbosilverette :wow weee! now that my friends interesting! i got to give it a try!

  • What is the stuff in the jar? This was a good vid. I used to clean my pipes a lot, but learned that you only need to do it every ten or twelve smokes, but if you're not wiping it out after its probably different.

  • @TristownDynamite :i find this method works better for me! were you referring to the home make pipe stem polish?

  • @MrBlink182ishi no, the other stuff.

  • @TristownDynamite :i was using q-tips, hand sanitizer,lip balm,red rum

  • Good Lord! $0.50 for one pipe cleaner!? They must be worth their weight in Penzance there. Anyway, it was another great vid. Thanks for the info. Hopefully, you'll get some pipe cleaners in your next trade. Take care.

    Billy

  • @NavyFlake1412 :hey there my friend!...lol yep pipe cleaners are freaking expensive.....we are all waiting for you to make some vids my friend!
