I'm thinking mine are fake but they have some things right and some wrong. Right things are 1- they have a lanyard 2- the packaging is real 3- they have both holes on earphones 4-they have the print central on the case. But they don't have 1- have the registration number 2- have a hologram on the black piece. PLEASE HELP
From your description I would say that yours are probably real. The only way to really tell is to listen to the sound quality. And always buy directly from Bose or a Bose authorized reseller.

I got the real ones for christmas a couple years ago and they were the best pair of in-ear headphones that I'd ever listened to. Too bad one of the wires got pulled too hard and disconnected from the ear bud ): I really liked them
Only the newer version's of it has this holo Sticker! Real Bose in Late 2008 and early 2009 don't have a holo! But you can tell it by the real grill(not just shine metal), it has a fine struktur, both side a hole,more ibony-black color cable, double fixed to the plug (under the Coat of the Plug) the gold of the plug don't scratch! And it sound's real great!!!

Yes there is a difference in the sound quality. The fake head phones sound tinny and have very little bass. Also the fake ones I had I could hear a clear difference between each ear piece (left and right).

Bose keep slightly modifying designs and packaging, unless the the fakes are really bad, you have no sure way of knowing without comparing them next to a genuine set.
When buying from sites like Amazon and Ebay, individual sellers should have a receipt from the point of sale as proof of purchase, especially when a headset can cost up to £300.00
I contacted Amazon customer support because I originally thought they were being sold by Amazon. But they put me in contact with the third party seller. And he gladly refunded all my money, when I returned the fake headphones to him.
there is a bunch of variance, even among genuine bose. They've had more than one generation now, and even in one generation, theres a bunch of variance.
I owned both (unfortunately). I had to fiddle with the equalizer in my Zune to get a decent sound on the fakes, especially if I was listening to music with lots of bass. With the genuine ones, there was no need to mess with the equalizer at all--the bass was overwhelmingly pristine. You could almost feel the drums vibrate in your head without having the volume too high. The fakes are better than your stock iPod headphones though, I'll give it that, but I'll take the authentic ones anyday.
Nice guide, there are other tells for fakes that Bose Tech Support can talk a buyer through. BTW, I received mine through a rewards card program, and the holographic sticker is on the "circuitry" node, so it's not a Best Buy-only feature. ;)

I was talking about the lanyard that comes with the real Bose headphones. The fake headphones do not have a lanyard included with them.

Yes there is a difference in the sound quality. The fake head phones sound tinny and have very little bass. Also the fake ones I had I could hear a clear difference between each ear piece (left and right).

Bose keep slightly modifying designs and packaging, unless the the fakes are really bad, you have no sure way of knowing without comparing them next to a genuine set.
When buying from sites like Amazon and Ebay, individual sellers should have a receipt from the point of sale as proof of purchase, especially when a headset can cost up to £300.00

I contacted Amazon customer support because I originally thought they were being sold by Amazon. But they put me in contact with the third party seller. And he gladly refunded all my money, when I returned the fake headphones to him.

I owned both (unfortunately). I had to fiddle with the equalizer in my Zune to get a decent sound on the fakes, especially if I was listening to music with lots of bass. With the genuine ones, there was no need to mess with the equalizer at all--the bass was overwhelmingly pristine. You could almost feel the drums vibrate in your head without having the volume too high. The fakes are better than your stock iPod headphones though, I'll give it that, but I'll take the authentic ones anyday.

Nice guide, there are other tells for fakes that Bose Tech Support can talk a buyer through. BTW, I received mine through a rewards card program, and the holographic sticker is on the "circuitry" node, so it's not a Best Buy-only feature. ;)
