  • Again!. I'm Having a problem with my forehand chop stroke it's always to high giving my opponent a great chance to drive me or even smash me.Help!. Also, If my opponent is serving a chop can I flick it if it's short or push it?

  • @jonasbrothersrulz120 If the ball is going too high you can try to either close the angle of your bat or bring your bat downwards more during the stroke. If your opponent serves with backspin you can push the ball back. You can also try the flick but this is easier if the ball is a little bit high or doesn't have as much backspin.

  • no slow mo?

  • @yoloop93 There is some slow motion in there if you watch it all!

  • 3:00 mahaaaah

  • @lub094 :)

  • ............im not even to pick strickes WTF

  • how could some1 dislike this video? its so clear

  • @ripmygutsss Thanks for your support.

  • @ripmygutsss idiot trolls. people like this should be thanked but trolls think it would be fun to dislike a video. God they must be bored to think that clicking a button will make them happy

  • @zZzShAdYzZz Thanks for your support!

  • Everytime I try chopping the ball, I always wind up hitting it with edge of the bat; is this a problem of the algle of me bat or something else?

  • @G4m3rZ3r0 Good question. It could be the angle of your bat. Try opening it up some more and see what effect that has. If you want some more information try using the Ask the Coach section of our website.

  • when i do the chop it goes way beyond the table mostly or just flies away. What am i doing wrong.?

  • @FSyoyo It sounds like you could be hitting the ball too much. When you play your chop try and move down vertically and generate a lot of spin with a brushing contact. If the ball is going too high and off the end of the table you can try to close the angle of your racket as you make the stroke.

  • dude what happens if the balls is too low? what I do is ill either use my long pimple and push the ball high or if the ball is facing to my forehand ill push the ball updards and make my opponent smash... i dont drive my hand up towards my hand when the ball is too llow. Any tips on that sir? how I can get used to driving my hand up towards my head?

  • @freepond I'm not exactly sure what you mean. If the ball is low you need to hit the ball up a little so you can clear the net. It sounds like the best thing might be to try moving in closer to the ball before it drops to low. You'll need good footwork to do this.

Try asking a question on the "Ask the Coach" section of our website. We are not limited in the length of our answers there and can converse back and forth a little easier to find out what you mean and help you out.

  • 3:00....know that feeling!

  • 1:45 - etc, why is he stomping his foot

  • @MrYelsgnik Not for any particular reason. It just happens as part of my chopping action.

  • how do you chop off a side spin ball

  • @broro100 If there is only sidespin and not any topspin, then the ball won't jump up off your racket. This means you probably need to open the face of your racket a little more. Also you need to angle your bat to counter the sidepsin.

If you've got some more questions or want some more detail then try using the Ask the Coach section of our website. We have more room to answer questions there and check them more often.

  • it's so hard to topspin this ball:/ i must always change the hit angle:/

  • @sg12nk34 Yeah it can be difficult. The key is to read how much backspin is on the ball and then adjust your stroke accordingly. You need to make sure that you always brush the ball though when making the forehand loop to ensure that you generate the topspin that will give you a bigger margin for error.

  • @pingskills

ok thanks i will training this:]

  • 3:00 haha! thanks for the help!

  • @Zezemint Glad we could help. Cheers!

  • @Zezemint

    yea awesome lol

  • I have a question:

every time someone does a forehand or backhand chop, I hit the ball into the net when i try to return it with a forehand slam. What am I doing wrong and how should I hit the ball, to make my slam go over the net?

  • @crustygymshorts Due to the backspin on the ball you need to ensure you are lifting the ball with a brushing motion. We cover this in our video Topspin against backspin which you can find on our website. After watching this video if you still have any questions then try using the Ask the Coach section of our website.

    Thanks for the question.

  • @pingskills Thanks for the help

  • Chop in Table Tennis for the win.

  • i am not able to come to the backhand position quickly while playing forehand,,, and whenever i play backhand,, i am not comfortable with the bat position....... backhand is weak...... dont know how to use backhand topspin..

  • @sagar037 Table Tennis can seem hard sometimes can't it? The trick is to keep working on your game and with practice you will get it. If you want some specific advice then try using our "Ask the Coach" section on our website.

  • Thanks alot , keep it up guys =]

  • @kebabs4eva Thanks!

  • HAHHAAHHAHAHA! i <3 the ending.. :D he actually voiced it out with emotion! :D (i do the same thing, and my frenz make fun of me)

  • @xmangosaintx Well sometimes you've just got to let it out!

  • @pingskills is it wrong if yu constantly voicing out? (frenz says its very distractive.) but is there any rule that i cant do it?

  • @xmangosaintx I think there is a rule about distracting your opponent. Try posting a question about this on our Ask the Coach section of our website where we have more room to answer and we'll look up the exact rules for you.

  • It's me again who said the thing about his nose at 0:13 but i have to add that you have helped me alot with your videos and keep it up! :)

  • A tenergy 05 In 1.7 mm Is Good For Foreband chop ?

I Hope You will understand me

    MrTT62 From france

  • @MrTT62 if u can controlled when ur chop its one of the best chopping rubbers.

the slippy surface is why u can turn a topspin ball into al lot of backspin chops.

  • NOOB

  • are you keeping your wrist straight or using it to get more spin?

  • @noobsauceonme use it to give more topsin is the best way.

  • what is more effective-a chop or a block?

  • @idiottaher for the regular player its beter to controlled a block.

  • listo

  • awesome technique

  • he starts at the right ear and moves down to his right testicle giving it the chop. This move is called a foreskin spin neat aaa, what a nutcracker.

  • @starclad HAHA wtf!

  • 3:02 is the best

  • @SvezNigrutin43

    you're right!!

  • Can someone tell me if he's holding the paddle correctly, with his pointer finger flat on the paddle, or is that just what works for him and there's not really a correct way?

  • that's the regular balanced shakehands grip. having the index finger flat on the paddle ensures stability and power when hitting forehands. if it's even higher on the paddle that kind of grip favors the forehand. if your thumb on the other side rests high on the rubber such a grip favors the backhand.

some pros switch grips when hitting different shots without even thinking about it (timo boll).

changing grip to serve is normal since you don't need power but only wrist mobility.

  • @dconrad23 , yes, he holds the paddle correctly, if you want to play at a certain level, you better hold your paddle that way. Only penholders hold their paddle different. The coorect way for a player to hold his paddle is when your holding the paddle like a hammer pointing your pointing finger straight like a gun on the ruibber of the paddle.

  • Yes, it's the correct way :)

  • There is no wrong technique, if it works its a technique.

  • narrrraarhrhrhhr !

  • thx for your help

  • similar to tennis slice? o_O

  • yu gi oh is friigin mean

  • Guys, you have a great videos and very useful....I know how is hard to make a perfect move because i play table tennis...Best Wishes!!!

  • would it be viable to base 90 % of your game on spin and also when i return with backspin they always seem to be able to smash back as though im not even putting back spin. Any tips? thanks btw for your channel its amazing.

  • well it could be your rubber, if its off the serve you might be mis reading maybe i dont know. is this when you're chopping or just in general?

  • shit i have problems just tryn to get it to bounce on the table lol.

  • haha. keep practicing.

  • loool omfg i cant belive ...

  • great set of very clear, useful videos guys, thanks

  • 3:02 lmao

but you guys rock!!! thanks for your tips :)

  • OMG!! LOL

  • Funnest shot ever! hehe.

  • This is a fantastic technique against most of the smashes.

I use it while playing against some really good smashers and it has frustrated them. The opponents get tired after 3-4 smashes and then you can do a counter attack on them leaving them shell shocked.

  • hmm chopping for me is the easier one my serve is a chop actually so iono guess it varies

  • Important thing to remember when looping backspin is to hit it as spinny as possible in the center of the table to make the ball go low when it goes out of the table. If it makes Jeff scream, it's bad enough for your opponent.

  • lol at 3:02

  • What made it better was the music 3 seconds after

  • yo guys its it alright if you all made a vid of the "in table" chopping? cuz not alot of people are good at it and i mostly have problems with it. everytime i chop it mostly hits the net. how do you chop so well?

  • I played a guy who ALWAYS owned me by slamming it on me using topspin

I thought beating him was hopeless until i learned to chop like this

extremely necessary shot in order to upset fast paced players

Perhaps one of the most important shots in the game!

    I

  • very fun hit to use

it make me laugh after 5 returns lol

totally frustrates aggressive opponents ; )

  • that's all true

  • haha master beats the padawan.

  • thanks soo much !!

  • this video helps me so much ! ! !

i thank those people who post this video !

    thank you !

  • Hey, thats absolutely a fantastic video. I realised that i am a rather defensive player and was advised to learn to chop the ball. i wasnt really great with the chop but ur video just got me going!

And oh, one more thing: i use a GKI blade Eurostar rubber. is it a good defensive choice?

  • Very Nice!!!!

  • He's using a Feint Long rubber!

  • That's like how I serve, I really need to learn a good serve but there isnt many 'how to serve' videos up.

  • best advice for serving, make it up, practice and get serves from youtube videos. Serves are the only reason I win.

  • i try the long hand hold but when i hit it cant really move much and dun go where i wan it to go ?

  • 3:02 is hilarious ;0

  • AH HAHAHAHAHAAHAH

  • can you explain the humor in that?

  • not as esay as i can ur homosexuality fag

  • I guess this stroke is hit from " DOWN UNDER"

    so to speak lol hahaha

  • Why do you guys reveal this stuff for FREE?

you could easy make money doing this lol

  • He doesn't use pips, does he?

  • these guyz are class

  • Wich rubber do youuse?Im not so good at english:)But hope you understand me..

  • I'm using Butterfly Tenergy 05 on both sides.

  • @pingskills thts the same as mine!!

  • @djkalka22 your english is quite well :)

  • Thanks for the video! I actually couldn't chop, watched this, went to the club, used the robot and more or less figured it out over time. Great videos!

  • my chop keeps going a little too far. What's the reason for that?

  • It could be for a few reasons. The most common is that your opponent is putting a lot of topspin on the ball. In this case you need to ensure you come down on the ball and keep your bat quite flat rather than open. You may want to try keeping your stroke more vertical rather than moving forward also.

  • very nice man, espcially loved the "NOOO!!!" bit at the end,

  • Easier, yes, and probably more dependable, but I don't think that very low ball could have been chopped up onto the table with a linear shot. I checked out the coaching section, and bookmarked it! Nice.

  • Nice that you point out the fast vs. slow ball difference. And I especially like how you left the last shot (the miss) on the video! It was a particular slow, and low, ball, and I think chopping it back would have required not just a horizontal stroke, but one that at least ended with an upward motion with the bat face tipped even slightly away from the table, as with some forehand chop serves, to dish the ball back up into play. Can you please comment on stroke motion? Linear versus curving?

  • Hi and thanks for the kind words. I think it is always easier to use a linear stroke. If you have any Table Tennis questions then try out our Ask the Coach section of our PingSkills website. • if you are a defensive player whats the best bat to get?? thanks for the lessons guys its helped me alot

  • A lot of defensive players use a slow blade with long pimples on the backhand. For the forehand the more aggressive choppers choose a faster rubber so they can still attack. Older style choppers use a slow rubber on their forehand as well.

Remember if you have any Table Tennis questions then be sure to use the "Ask the Coach" section of our website. We even have an RSS feed for it so you can stay up to date with all the latest questions.

  • i will look for a bat with them qualities then , thanks , i will be on your website to check that out . your lessons have taught me alot .

  • thank you for quick reply. keep on your tutorials, they are excellent. regards.

  • please give us the information which rubber the player uses for chopping in this video. regards.

  • Hi,

I'm actually using my normal bat which has Tenergy 05 rubbers on them. These are not really defensive rubbers and so you would most likely choose a different combination if you were mostly a defensive player. Watch out soon for the backhand chop lesson as we will demonstrate that with both normal rubber and long pimples.

  • thank you for quick reply. keep on your tutorials, they are excellent. regards.

  • ive gotten pretty good off these lessons in the last 2 months
