  • Awesome vid !!! :)

  • that is simply beautiful

  • ZONE 5!!!!!!!

  • whos up there?

  • that was the best day of of my life, bye bye tomcat

  • The GE F110 engine was the engine the F-14 needed for a long time! This shows how great that engine made the Tomcat. If you watch closely this F-14B or D performs a 1/2 cuban eight with her twin blowers at zone 5. That's some awesome thrust to weight.

  • summer nitght time airshows are the BEST THING EVER!!!

  • @kdjfnvjvd i wanna see a night time on =[

  • I love the afterburners!!!!

  • They're not all scrapped, there are about 2 squadron's worth of F-14 A-D's stored in Type 1000 (flyaway condition) storage at AMARC located at Davis-Monthan AFB Tuscon AZ. If the Navy doesn't find use for them within the next 5 years they'll either be permanently stored there, or scrapped.

  • Per my visit to AMARC just a few weeks ago, there are 16 left that have not yet been cut up.

  • ya we have a squad of them here in colorado, they did a fly over for the broncos game a month ago, did a couple low ass passes over our house, amazing planes

  • those werent; f-14s, they were f-15s.

  • @erad5 man, do your research before you open your mouth...take a look at the profiles of each aircraft .

  • just a question... so what if - in the years AFTER the next five years... what do they use for the replacements for the F-14? is the f -22 capable of running the routes of the tomcat? im sure it is, but so far its not a fighter/bomber like the tomcat was. seriously, is there a winged defense that even compares to the tomcat nowadays? im not being a moron, i would honestly like to know...

  • The Raptor's an Air Force plane, and is faster, stealthier, and more agile in any case. The Navy's using the Hornet and Super Hornet (Both dedicated lightweight fighter-bombers with more payload, easier maintenance, and cheaper than the 'Cat) and are probably going to replace those with the F-35C in time.

  • when using the AB, you will spray kerozine in the engine right ?

but does the kerozine come from the fuel tank of the aircraft ?

would like to know this :)

  • they dont sprey kerozine into the engine, they dump fuel into the egaust, and where else would it come from?

  • yeh but the f-14 isnt as maneuverable

  • F-14 has the lamest turning rate in the history of aviation!

  • From a person who plays Sims thats quite a brave statement

  • and off he goes into the wild blue yonder....to look for a tanker...:)

  • LOL

  • I just can't believe it, the fucking F/A-18 replaced the F-14, THE MOST FUCKING DUMB DECISION EVER. The F-14 was better than the F/A-18 in every way except that the F/A-18 was newer. Other then that, the F-14 was better than the F/A-18. The F-14 is such a masterpiece of the sky, I am really angry that it is not flying. All the classic carrier aircraft, A-7 Corsair, A-6 Intruder (already gone), S-3 Viking, F-14 Tomcat, EA-6B Prowler, ALL going to be replaced by the fucking hornet. Fucking gay man

  • 2 reasons: maintenance cost and time.

you know it's sad, but true.

  • Dude I was really upset too. But it was planned to stop working since it started its duty. Still the f-14 will always be a legend

  • They've sacrificed highly specialized aircraft for a generic airframe because of the cost savings and logistical advantage of part and systems interchangeability. In reality the F-14 was designed for a threat that no longer exists, to intercept and destroy enemy bombers, fighters and cruise missiles at extreme range and unbelievable speeds using huge weapons.

  • F 18 is more advanced and maneuverable it would take the tomcat any day

  • @jackkilljoy698 I completely agree with you!

  • @jackkilljoy698 F14 like dude said below was built as a long range interceptor fighter during the cold war! It could also lock onto what 18 targets at once? That is a hell of a weapon and it served the time for what it was used for. It was not meant to be a dogfighter really! Just long range shit to protect the fleet. Still ONE HELL of an aircraft.

  • Now that is a MiGkiller!

  • Long live the F-14 :(

    F/A-18s just aren't as good.

  • chariots of the gods

  • Loved 'em ever since Top-Gun

  • Great and best ever plane....

  • Gotta love the Tomcat baby!

  • looks so sweet

  • he would be going fast if the wings were swept back

  • swept back wings are for super sonic flight. he wouldn't be able to do all those maneuvers if they were swept back.

  • still sweet though i think the tommy wants its fellow fighters to shoot it down, bein used by those a holes gotta sucks

  • it would be funny if the pilot was like "aw fuck, I left the ab on. im low on gas now"

  • Man, I hope Iran's government chills out.... they still fly the tomcat... it would suck to see them shot down by other western fighters.

  • or it would be funny to see western fighter get shot down by iranian f-14s. US shouldn't get rid of the f-14

  • We didn't get rid of them completely. They are decommissioned but not scrapped.

  • uh,no. They are all gona be scrapped...

  • Yeh there gonna get scraped so theres no spare parts that can be sold to the Iranians to use on their f-14's. Same its one of the best looking planes ever.

  • LOOK at teh Nav lights!!!!! He is inverted on the low pass!!! Awesome!!!

  • the best jet ever fuk the f22,f16,f15

  • tomcat is so sweet worth evry penny of my taxes even though im gonna get a low income return evy time i see a us jet ,tank, or any other thign we make it makes me feel better

  • best fighter jet in ever

  • holy shit! I was there!

  • American superiority!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to exist from Italy.I've seen a lot of tomcats in NASMiramar before they change in MCAS in '94.

  • Beautiful aircraft. It served the United States for a long time, and they did their job very well.

  • I love military aviation, other than the fact that these are designed specifically to kill people. Too bad our best technologies are allocated to cause death and destruction. Cool vid! Thanks

  • i want to have sex wtih an f14

  • Heh ... funny ... and I agree. She was/is, IMAO, the most beautiful jet. Bad, bold and beautiful. Sad to see her retire. I used to go to an airshow in Michigan just so I could walk up and pat her on the nose. I finally got to see her demonstrated at one show ... I think I got aroused. Was that wrong?

  • Getting aroused by looking at the tomcat... that aint wrong. Its what you did after that, that got the police involved. I bet that poor woman standing in front of you never saw it coming. ;)

  • lol me too

  • sounds like the end of the earth....

Such a shame the old tommies had their life cut short...

  • is so cool

  • cool!!!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome!! The F-14 Tomcat in all her splendor! It dosent get any better than this. I am so damn proud to have served this beautiful fighter plane. Forever, VF-213 "The Fighting Blacklions" God Bless America!!

  • were you a pilot man?

  • Not full afterburner only partial... He is doing high G turns... Turns like that at full afterburner are not allowed... 3 different things could happen doing that... 1) The plane could rip apart... OR 2) He could have gone into a grey-out (loss of vision/consciousness when blood flow to the brain is interrupted) when he was going up there at the end... OR 3) He could have gone into a redout(Loss of consciousness when to much blood flows to the brain) when he was flying down in the beginning...

  • I have the urge to watch TopGun now.

  • HAHAHA< hell yeah

  • R.I.P. Tomcat

it was a shame they retired it

  • i wounder how many Gs that guy must be feeling when doing that turn at speed

  • YIEA that was THE Bird.. TOMCAT D BEST! Duo Blow Torch! it Cuts metal as a fart through silence..

  • HELLZ YEAH MAN!!!

  • great vid! cool

  • I was there for this! I love the Navy Birds, but sadly all I can see where I live up near Langley is the F22s... Not much excitement there.

  • Ah, you see the Raptors often? I'd love to see them. But your quite right about the site of Tomcats being more interesting than the 22's. I haven't seen F-14's in flight either (I've only seen photos and video of the two aircraft..and been to many museums).

  • Ilike it the best Jet in the world Jeeeha

  • wow i wonder how hot that is

  • more than 2000 degrees

  • I am depressed that they retired such a beautiful and successful aircraft.. It really puts me down. It was the first of it's kind and it has a huge history of success.

Why not give it a upgrade kit and extend it's service for another 10 years?

I hope they don't tear these apart at the Tuscon Boneyard...

  • they're retiring it because it costs 5 times as much money per flight hour to operate it as the f-18 and others,,, and they're all very old, those airplanes took too much abuse

  • yeah...the F-14s were great, but were aging. The F/A-18 may not be as fast, and doesn't have Interceptor RADAR capable of tracking and targeting 6 planes at once, but The Hornet will do fine.

  • :'( I'll miss my favorite aircraft...

  • the hornet is so bad ass

  • FEAR the Tomcat!!! FOREVER!!!

  • TOMCAT RULES too bad there sharp metal now

it truly was that greatest interceptor

  • awesome video conagrats

  • That's what I call heat signature...

  • great vid mate

  • Great video ... love the Tomcat!

  • so, the pilot needs to sweep the wings back with another switch when going after burning?

  • Well, if the pilot manually put the wing in forward place in the first place, I guess yeah. Typically the wing sweep is automatically adjusted by the computer.

  • @ericvonp

The wing sweep was automatic. When the jet hit a certain speeds the wings would sweep back for both better maneuverability at high speeds and better aerodynamic stability.

  • @ericvonp it can happen auto or by hand

  • Kick in those AfterBurner's TOMCAT & let them roar! Outstanding. Thank you for posting this cool video. TOMCAT's FOREVER!!!

    David

  • huh...I always thought the sweeping of the wings was automatic in full after burn

  • They retract their wings so the are more aerodynamic but they are not able to fly as slow. They extend their wing when landing and taking of so they can fly relatively slow without losing lift and slalling.

  • why do they retract their wings sometimes?

  • to reach bigger speeds.

  • they sweep their wings to 60 degrees because a delta wing creates less air disturbance, thus reaching higher speed

  • what is the gas mileage of this jet?

  • I agree diverongases i too would have my cock chopped!!

  • i bet is arss was burning at the same time haha

  • He's having to go straight up at the end because if he didnt he'd be going supersonic..!

  • I'm glad I don't pay his fuel bill

  • haha we probably do =P well, if you pay taxes anyways

  • you do know that the only reason theyre that big is cuz its dark, if it was at the same power in the day, it wouldnt look at dramatic

  • its eazy as shit to do thatin bf2 :)

  • lol i hear ya :P

  • I would have my cock chopped off for a ride in that thing.

  • No..that's stupid.

  • @diverongases i say the same thing all the time

  • Seeing this at night.. what a treat.

  • God!!!!

  • Mean Ol' Badass Kitty! <3

  • Only the Tomcat

    The best of the best.

  • Tomcat, my beloved, ever will you you be in my heart. Lovely video, sexy fighter.

  • Holy (censored)!! Frickin awesome!

  • I love playing this video, the subwoofer tickles my feet and my chair feels like it has a massage function......

  • LOL..

same here.. my neighbors think that they're under attack...

  • loll

  • I remember seeing a Tomcat starting it's takeoff roll at night. When those afterburners lit up, it shot a flame about 15 feet long and was fairly loud.

Talk about impressive to watch. When it went wheels up, they shot almost straight up and went into the night sky.

  • did it fly upp verticaly?

  • No, it's pretty steep, but not quite vertical yet.

  • man i love the sound of a f-14 on full AB one my favrit jets of all time. wish i could fly one guess i have to start likeing the f-22 rapter. lol

  • Almost brings a tear to the eye....beautiful!

  • lmao kerosene

  • That could not have been after burner, the wings were not swepping back at all

  • Automatic wing swept is based on air speed, not thrust level. Besides, pilot can lock them...

  • ummm then what do you think those flames were shooting out of the back????????? Like is said above, the pilots can manually control the wing sweep.

  • the wings sweep back based on the aircrafts speed. you can run with full afterburners with a high AOA (angle of attack) and only be going 200 knots. the wings sweep back when the speed is high enough.

  • please tell me more about it! I f-14 is my absolutly favavorit one - but I am a woman and I do not understant to much technic. thanks

  • sweet!

  • Damn, that must have been so frikkin' loud. Was the pavement shaking??

  • Dunno, I standed in the sand on the beach and was just focusing on getting the video camera on-line since I was looking at the wrong direction. It was very very loud -- in the best way -- though. :)

  • DAMN THAT IS SOME FLAME bet theres alot of kerosein coming out the back!

  • its not Kerosine its jet fuel most likely JP-8 military naval jet fuel. its got an extremely high octane rating so its like diesel on steroids.

  • Seriously, Navy typically uses JP-5, and all JP are kerosene-based...try google JP-5 or JP-8 and you will find plenty of information on them

  • AWESOME!!!

  • when did they retire the f14's?

  • September '06, about two weeks after I shot this video.

  • VF-31!!

  • sweetness.....goodbye to one of my favorite jets:(

  • does anybody know when exacly they retired the tomcat?

  • dude ive never seen aft burners sooooooo long ! its awesome

  • 'Cats rule baby!

  • damn

  • i am going to miss that 16ft afterburner nothin like it

  • amazing. the afterburners were as huge as the tomcat. anyway, isn't it's wing supposed to be swept when accelerating?

  • The wing swept is normally controlled by computer based on speed (not acceleration), but can be over-ridden by the pilot. Maybe the speed is not high enough or maybe the pilot locked it, not sure.

  • Yes to my hard drive. I attended this years air show and the beach blast. I am putting together a DVD for myself and a friend with the pictures we took. I never took anything of the beach blast so I thought it would be cool to add this vid...with your blessing of course. I do not intend to sell and make a profit from this DVD; only two copies will be made.

  • Just private message your email address and how big of a file you want it to be to me.

  • How do I save this?

  • To your harddrive? I don't know. Just bookmark this page and you can come anytime you want.

  • Can you imagine how much fule he just burned !

  • F-14's FTW!!! great video!!! i wanted to go to see the massive F-14 fly-over, couldnt make it.

  • Thanks. I definitely feel very fortunate to see it before it bows out of stage next week.
