  • This is the first time I have ever seen this song performed. I grew up with this song on a cassette tape. It was the last song on the Kermit side and referred to it as a last word before "this record reaches it's final groove".

    I miss that tape. :(

  • one of my favorite Kermit the FRog songs

  • Kermit's most powerful Sesame Street performance. 'Nuff said.

  • 3 people are dumb ole' bumps on a log.

  • The way that this song is, it reminds me of "I Want to Be a Producer" from The Producers.

  • Kermit the Frog was such an inspirational character for children. This song along with 'Not Easy Bein' Green' just uplifts you. Unfortunately since Jim Henson left us Kermit has not been the same. :'(

  • Kermit sounds like he is about to cry when he is singing.

  • This is my favourite song too. I've even put its lyrics on my facebook profile -

    "This frog may slip and stumble, but this frog tries again;

This frog never will grumble, but fall to rise again."

:) Kermit is always inspiring; it has taught me how to lead life.

  • this is my favorite song!

  • The same singers from I just adore 4.

  • Ohhhh I remember this was when I learned the world falter...Great Sesame Street moment and song.

  • Kermit was such a maverick. :)

  • Kermit was right up there with Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, and Malcom X. Trailblazing

  • trendsetting and brave. Kermit's my hero. thumbs up for a charismatic muppet

  • @zzyzx0788 Only blacks are trailblazers now?

  • @dopplesoldners Um, no sir, you just implied that, I just thought of the most influential figures of the 20th century

  • @zzyzx0788 They definitely weren't the most influential figures of the 20th century, unless you're only including blacks. Sorry.

  • @dopplesoldners *sigh* your trolling is already getting old.

  • @zzyzx0788 And your refusal to admit your obvious bias in your original statement is becoming equally irritating. Stop assuming you're the only one displeased.

  • @dopplesoldners I thought Kermit was green?

  • @bagot6 He is green!

  • There's another message this song has, too. Then when it comes to being successful, having talent is just the tip of the iceberg. It also takes discipline, education, dedication, and perserverance.

  • " ...like a tick that sticks to a dog..." hmmm

  • Brava!

  • Strangely but wondrously touching and inspirational.

  • Very inspirational and strong. It has a good message, that you can't always just wish for something and hope that it'll happen. Sometimes, you have to help MAKE it happen.

  • remembering the good ole days. love kermit. he's definately my favourite character. b it on sesame street or muppet show.

  • Surprisingly enough, "Kermit" actually wasn't his original name. It was "Sam", and he was the star of an old Muppet series called "Sam & Friends".

  • We can be anything we want to be. The stuff on the tub today for kids can't be compared

  • Absolutely, Marvin. The message is that every person has to go his own way, and the only way we can know when we'll either succeed or fail is to work our hardest at it. And even though life will always be difficult, and it'll have ways of knocking us flat on our butts, if we keep fighting long and hard to get back up on our feet, we'll always win the battle.

  • When was this recorded? And can anyone else tell me, are all of the Tarnish Brothers voiced by Jerry Nelson? 'Cause it sure sounds like it.

  • No. His voice just happens to be the one standing out the most. I think he's the orange one. The other two are Chris Cerf and Richard Hunt.

  • hahaha luv this song ..one of the best Sesame Street songs!

  • Forgot about this one! Words to live by ya'll!

  • The Tarnish Brothers sound great in this number.

  • This song really makes me wonder just how much Jim Henson revealed of himself to the world on what his true feelings were about his life and his personality through Kermit the Frog.

  • This reminds me a lot of the song "My Way", but its different in it's own right. Very delightful video!

  • it sounds like "this girl is a woman now" by gary puckett and the union gap.

  • I think I first heard this song on the "Aren't You Glad You're You" album. As quite a few of you pointed out, definitely an inspiration.

  • This song is inspirational. This song talks about sticking to priorities and working hard to stick to things that matter to you the most in life.

  • love it!

  • This is so inspiring! And I've never seen it before!

  • I found IT!!To my sweet sister who I miss so much..I'm going to be "this frog" for you.. I may stumble once in a while just like Kermit, but I'll make it, I promise, We'll see each other again and we'll watch Kermit together like we used to do. I hope they play reruns of the Muppet Show in Heaven!! Love you always!!

  • Wow. That is such a touching speech. I'm almost approaching tearfulness, and no I'm not being sarcastic. And of course, a great song. I'm not sure if I saw it as a lad.

  • Yes, my sister and I watched The Muppet Show faithfully as kids until one day she..left us..This song brings her back to me..Thanks for your kind reply :)

  • My 2 yo daughter and I watch this every day. I hope our enjoyment of Kermit help make up for your loss.

  • Sweet reply anto66r. I really appreciate it.

  • that was a nice song. i dont remember even seeing it.

does anyone have when he sings "Get Along" w/ the Twiddlebugs and the yip-yips?

  • Elmo was designed to be cute and to appeal to toddlers. Kermit is an inspiring example of someone who handles their responsibilities and balances maturity, inquisitiveness and self-awareness. Elmo has his purpose. Kermit has his.

  • Is it me or does this song remind anyone else of either "Bridge Over Troubled Water" or "You Light Up My Life"?

  • I got one for you: "My Way" comes to mind when I hear this

  • 100% Elmo free! Splendid, love "this frog"!

  • I remember this song-I found it very sad as a child!

  • Great video!

  • I just noticed the coat hanging off the shoulder! LOL! Nice touch, Kermy!

  • "...this frog will not wear a halter, 'cause nothing halts this frog..." What an empowering song for kids. I miss you, Kermy...you were the best friend (and role model) a kid could have!

  • I love this frog!

  • WOW....classic! Kermit so rules. No Elmo in this house!!!

  • Yes very inspirational song a great classic and who decided to add the music in the beginning i mean come on. But great song brings back memories.

  • This is the song that every kid should listen too. A very inspirational song about standing up for what you believe in & not taking any crap from anybody!

  • I concur kcro25!!

  • You're absolutely right, Kcro. It also shows that if kids wanna be happy and successful when they grow up, they have to go their own routes and find themselves.

  • Yeah. This frogs wearing a suit and working. And making a good living. And compiling a portfolio. And getting great benefits. And building a nice retirement nest egg. SO THERE!

  • I noticed he has his reporter uniform, well, parts of it. Does anyone know if the office he was working in was his Sesame Street News office?

  • And has the most with-there wife, one willing to cheer him on all the way, standing with her frog to the very end, his own sweet Piggy.

Okay, who would dispute our Miss Piggy's devotion to her Kermie? I'll bet you a New Yorker subscribpston I'm right.

  • wow this song is soo good! Kermit always sings deep songs. haha i also thought of like The Polyphonic Spre singing it, that'd be awesome :)

haha this is going on my myspace!

  • A frog behind a desk doing office work? lol!

  • I had forgotten about this song but it came back to me as soon as I saw it.

  • I often wondered why he took his coat, but left his hat.

  • If you mean Robin, that's his nephew.

  • Yeah. He never got married, and one time he said he doesn't intend to. I intend to.

  • Jim Henson was married. He had 5 kids

  • No, I meant KERMIT never married. I know Jim Henson was married. He had kids like Brian and Cheryl.

  • thank you so much for posting this. This is my favourite Kermit the Frog song... I've been looking for it for ages.

  • Creative song for sesame street, kind of has a phil spector/four seasons quality to it

  • My favorite Kermit the Frog song. I thought this was one of Jim Henson's finest performances.

  • That song had a big ending!

  • true, it always give me goose-bumps, and I am 37 years old

  • I know right? I LOVED IT!!

  • Too bad they added that corny music as the other frog was leaving.

  • Yeah, that was horrible. But other than that, I love this bit!

  • YAY!!Let's hear it for Kermit!!!!

  • hooray!! makes me want to go back in time and ask him to marry me.

  • Aaron walter to hear it for Kermit the frog
