  • Perhaps you should look toward biological law regarding our fishing laws implemented by agencies controlling our fisheries. Here you will see bycatch and waste is caused due to the laws we must follow. Unjust regulations and laws are a cause for waste seeing as how FL requires fisherman to use nets which create 98 % bycatch. To raise the net size by 1 inch would reverse this rate to a 2 % bycatch. Fisherman are not to blame !!!

  • dyrdek , 70 % kill rate ? Do you commercial fish ? Fish caught in a net and released have little chance for survival ? What about rod and reel fish released ? Do 100 % of them survive ?

  • i just wish that all the gill netters and long line setters and bottom rollers could realize and respect the ocean and stop destroying it yeah i go fishing and yeah i keep fish but i dont take every damn thing that i catch yea ive kept fish and ate em but i dont keep what i dont need they need to realize there destroying the things that we need and the fish need such a reefs and natural habitats there ripping everything out of the ocean

protect our oceans and regulate net laws

  • Gill nets don't destroy the ocean, draggers do, scallop draggers. Get your facts right.

  • in different parts of the world gill netters will circle an a small spoil island and drop there nets and pull everything out of the area and gill nets have a 70% kill rate

even if they release undersized or illegal fish there is only a small chance that will survive and doing as much as they do the fish do not have enough time to reproduce therefor destroying the ecosytem
