If everyone's car sounded like this, manufacturers would stop having to install radio's in cars. Needless to say, my radio hardly ever comes on in my 72 Monte- I'd rather listen to that engine rumble.
Im just a ole English boy but I think Im right in sayin talladega is the fastest oval in the US,yes??? And is it possible to drive it as an "experience"....cos if it is, Im signing up for it!!! Along with Laguna Seca .......Daytona.......u boys have some of the best circuits in the world"!
Im just a ole English boy but I think Im right in sayin talladega is the fastest oval in the US,yes??? And is it possible to drive it as an "experience"....cos if it is, Im signing up for it!!!
Are you kidding me; I took this video, fool, and if you watched it closely, you would notice that the wall is painted "Talladega". Your comment definitely belongs in the "duh" category. If you're confused b/c the surface is old and bumpy, that's b/c I took the video back in '05 before the track was resurfaced.
@SPAZZY1912 no with no restrictor u woukd be hiting 220-240, these have a huge Restrictor because they dont want you going faster then 160, now if they used the same restrictor NASCAR uses at this track he would be going 185-190 with no draft.
It looks like the DJ driving school takes you much faster than Richard Petty DE does. I see that you get up to the 170's with DJ, but only in the low 150's with RPDE at Daytona.
Several years ago I was given a wonderful gift of 10 laps at Lowes Motor Speedway at the Dale Jarrett Driving Experience. We were allowed to pass, go as fast as comfortable. It was exciting to say the least. The sound of racing steel, rumbling exhaust, the wind whipping past as you hug the wall going into the tunnel turn; there is nothing like it. I recommend this experience for anyone who wants to legally run 160 mph.
1324tube, you know what's going on. This is one of the best on-board videos I've ever seen. To hell with all these other idiots...only real men could understand what's going on here. If it ain't got 3 pedals and a V8, they can shove it up their asses.
@Rcrby525 well mr. sarcasm, have you ever tried to keep 7,000 hp going n a straight line? go 2 a NHRA event sometime and watch the rubber getting put down, there is nothing straight about it ;)
@Rcrby525 it actually is, you have to be very good at shifting and you may not know that they are keeping a 7000hp car going in a straight line at 300mph, lets see you do that if its so easy.
200 miles on a hard surface straight away is still boring. Drifting on dirt roads on the edge of mountain cliff road with fans as your "guard rail" is more of a nut pucker then Nascar will ever be. Check the WRC videos in my favorites video folder. The fact that fans can easily die just watching their favorite motor sport says a lot about how exciting it is.
In WRC, you want the car to turn: Is the challenge...
In Nascar you want it to... Turn!
As absurd it is. But, no Pendulum in Nascar... You have to let go the car without breaking or slowing down, you have to still get the car "relax" since you go fast without going in the wall... And at that speed, the car start to feel nervous. Add traffic around you, and it hell.
In WRC, no traffic, but you want to be nervous to get the hell out of the curve.
@Rcrby525 Well, if they get on the way it might be because they fell suicidal... So.
Just joking, but seriously: stay away from some dangerous spot if you are looking at rally. There is some information on the net about what not to do, including the basic "not stay in the middle of the road".
sure never looked that bumpy from the race in car cameras. of course now the new surface makes for rather spectacular racing now that they don't bounce around.
I prefer the old surface for watching the racing since they had less control of those 3K+ behemoths. But when I go back and drive the car myself (after I save up the fundage), I'll be glad for the slick, smooth surface.
I found this interesting because of the engine sound. I remember in-car footage from around 1990/1991 and it sounded exactly the same, but today you don't have that sound. I thought the engines had changed, but I guess it actually is the camera technology. Good to know the sound is still alive.
Wow what a vid! Thanx for the trip, dude... Nothin beats the roar of these V8s! Do these nascar flitzers have actually "only" 4 gears? Amazing reaching such top speeds with such "classic" mechanics, that's what I love in nascar!
txs for the comment; yup, only 4 gears. Classic 4 barrel carburetor, intake manifold, headers. Do hate the COT and Chase format that NASCAR has put in place to try and lift ratings and ticket sales.
I think there is nothing wrong with the COT. It handles well at Daytona. The drivers aren't complaining. Old School fans are complaining, i'm one of those old school fans. Its safer, takes less handling and more on dirver skill. ITS HERE TO STAY DEAL WITH IT.
