  • Are finger tabs really necessary when using a recurve bow? I just started shooting bow, and I don't use any vanbraces or finger tabs or any of that. Am I going to cause nerve damage to my finger tips or something crazy like that?

  • @BillyDa59 really depends on the poundage you intend to shoot, I've had blisters With a tab from shooting 44 lbs. but if you're shooting around 16 lbs you should do fine without, but I'd recommend a tab ;)

  • @BillyDa59

I started shooting 20 lbs, which is light but started really blistering my fingers after a couple days in a row. Eventually you would build up a callus, but I do art and loosing the feeling in my fingers would be an inconvenience as I need to feel the pencil in my hand to make the right lines. But if you're okay with loosing most of the feeling at your finger tips (nothing to do with nerves, just skin) then shoot without. Unless you have a very heavy draw weight.

  • @GoaGreena Have you tried finger tape or you can get gloves for it. Hope this helps

  • @Mrslolzbear 70M

  • @BillyDa59 no its just to stop bruising for prolonged usage

  • korean man dishonor his family time for either an ass whooping or suicide

  • what kind of hand protector is he using at 2:48? Thx!!

  • @Chronos441 its the best on the market its for the pink also and for keeping the hand straight it helps the archer with the loose but not everybody can shoot with it

  • The Korean is shooting with K-van, isn't it ?

  • What distance is this? Looks about 50 yards ?

  • @PJCwe44 further, 70m

  • @PJCwe44 70m

  • My senior always say archery is 90% mental and equipment and form makes up only 10%.

  • @Shadowjester00 But being able to rely on your technique and repeat it all the time without fluctuation is 95 % of where the mental strenght comes from.

  • @1234holygrail ok, thanks :D

  • Im new to archery, but why do they let go of their bow after they have taken the shot?

  • @TheBreakbattle They let go their bow for the perfect shoot, (and mostly) to avoid gratuitous or bad hand movements distracts the flight of arrow.

  • @Zsorti Hasent the arrow allready left the bow when they let the go of the bow??

  • @TheBreakbattle Sorry for the slow answer, i can rarely check the net. Btw. holygrail is right. (follow trough...) Well may i can say the "falling" bow is consequence of relaxed fingers. I am poor in english so i dont want to lead you to wrong way, but if you ask me i will do my best to help you. I can say: find a trainer. Easy to learn bad movements and very hard to leave those. The good shoot by a bow is more complex than at first time anyone imagine it.

  • @Zsorti Well, i do have a trainer although its not one regular person. And i am getting better at shooting and i understand now why if "falls", its cause your not acctually grasping the bow rather than resting it inside your hand. The biggest problem i have at the moment is that i get tirred in my left shoulder after a while so i cant shoot as many arrows a day as i would like.

  • @TheBreakbattle Sorry for the 4 months. :( First part: you are right "not acctually grasping the bow rather than resting it inside your hand". second: i'm so late, i hope that your shoulder problem vanished. I had the same problem, but now my shoulder is ok. I think it is only question of time because a new archer use some rarely used muscles. Shoot at least 200 a day. On a full FITA (now is WAF!?) competition you have to shoot 144 times. And the lat shoot must be so good as the first.

  • 70meters distance?

  • two of my favorite archers in the world

  • park is the best corean archery

  • park is a best corean archery

  • maybe he should try lighter shades

  • does anyone know what string fabricate these top archers use? my self use bcy 452x ( 16 strand or what it called in english)outdoors and angel majesty ( 18)indoors ..for a 38 pound bow (40 but only 38 on my fingers)

  • @chonne81 They use BCY 8125 with 16-20 strands depending on poundage. If you shoot with 38 pounds i would recommend 18-20 strands.

  • @wulff197 okey i shot with 38 pounds ( 40 pound limbs) and i use a bcy 452x 16 strands outdoors and 20 indoors i never got harmony with the 8125.. perhapse im the only one using 452 x on recurve?

  • dam i wanted park k.m to win

  • Nerves of iron must reside beneath Park's skin.

  • Equpment only counts if you have (as much as possible) perfect posture and technique .

My coach shoots a Win&Win Inno Carbon at World Cups ,but I've seen him shoot a Wooden Samick Polaris and get better groupings than half other archers from my country that shoot really good bows .

All in all ,your skill and mental techniques matter the most .Gear counts ,but you can't notice it if your technique isn't good enough ,and archers with good techs will always best good geared ones .

  • @JuventusForever94 a bow is only as good as the archer. this applies to many things it seems.

  • mental and physical are more important than the equipment..

    100% mental and physical

    10% coach

    10% equipment.

  • Yeah, agree, but if you have good equipment, than you trust it and your self more. I think 46% equipment

  • so this makes 120%? ._.

  • that doesn't make sense... 120%?

  • @fita1300 lol

  • aw korea ):

  • there is a guy with a magazine on his head 11.54

  • koreans are just amazing in archery :D

  • Its mostly about mental strength in my opinion but technique and gear do also play a role in that.

  • @Sketchy2511 that is so true! i have a small story about that. i am just taking up archery, after i took the merit badge at scout camp. my counselor kept telling us it was a mental game, and he decided to demonstrate that on me. He came and told me that he would buy me a slushie at the trading post if i could hit the target. I wasnt a very good shot, but i rarely missed the target , because it was so close, and i agreed. i nocked my arrow, and he made so much noise, i COMPLETELY missed the shot.

  • is park using spingwing ??

  • its called spin-vanes

  • Spin-Wing Vanes, he just missed the "vanes" don't be mean.

  • yea, i know... i just found it funny

    "spin wings" lol

  • spin-wings is perfectly reasonable man...

  • is it just me or is Park Kyung-Mo shooting with K-vanes??

  • @konata324 looks like it from here.

  • park k.m. is the best archer ever!!!

  • thats all because park is shooting inno.

W&W is putting much preassure on the athletes to win, that could be a reason.

  • are you that stupid that you think the more expensive gear you have the better you shoot? haha

I have my old Marksman meteor and still shoot better than many with for an example hoyt.. its your skills and motivation that matters not the gear

  • i think tony is just telling which is his opinion which is best and not the more expensivev the gear the better u shoot.but i think expensive gears do help to increase an archer's confident.

  • Decent gear definitely helps consistency.

Lower vibration (better materials and design), better balance (higher end risers have a much better weight distribution), lighter materials (carbon bows), smoother draw action (from full carbon limbs).

I'd at least advise AGAINST shooting with crap bows. Paying more for your gear will definitely HELP you shoot more consistently, and then it is up to you to train hard with your gear.

  • i dont see why it all has to come down to the bow when someone looses. its not the bow that sucks, it just all comes back down to your form. it does seem like hes not consentrating as much as he normally does, he seems a bit ill.

  • sometimes at 70m - 90m, the equipments plays a part besides having good form. =)

  • yeah, but undoubtedly, both these archers are going to have their bows tuned to perfection. So really, its form and mental continuity that matters at this level.

  • at 70m - 90m, the equipment matters. =)

  • meaning?

  • gears do matter, esp. in long range.

  • thats wat i said

  • Anyone knows what stabilization uses girouille?

    Park's tecnique is awesome

  • Arc Système

  • la flèche de la mort... bravo Romain !

  • Too bad that Inno got him to the final... Park is great and i doubt he would blame the loss on his bow!

  • Serious pity for park - I think with any other bow he could have won... that thing sounded messed :|

  • I've seen a few Inno bows shoot and they all sound like that. Did you notice Park was sniffing a lot? Maybe he had the flu or someting?

  • sad park change inno then lose =(
