@jimmyplane The Human eye See's 24FPS roughly because thats all our brain devotes to our vision. this is because we are not prayed on by any other species.
hmm, so ur suggesting that if there came another living species that hunted us down, we'd evolve so that our brain would allow us to see more in detail?
It scares me to think of being preyed upon by other species, but it'd def be cool to see that evolution take place.
answering seriously though, the human vision capability cannot be measured as frames per second so it's irrelevant to wonder how many fps human eye can see.
@pilot3Sam You do not see in frames per second. Thats not how our vision works. The cones and rods in our eyes are constantly interpreting various rays of light with different frequencies and then sending that information down through the optic nerve where its is all put together by the brain into a sequence of images. The funny things is is that it is easier to black & white since the chemical reactions enabling them are quicker. So if you where to close your eyes and open them to see, you see
@pilot3Sam ... The blacks and whites first, then the color. However, your brain interprets these impulses so quickly it is impossible to notice these differences. Also, your brain can change the rate it which it "sees". So if you just still still and stare you will "see" less often, and when you are under extreme stress (like during a shark attack) your brain will "see" more often and that is why time seems to slow down.
I thought it looked like the demo they showed at tgs 09. But then again, my tv screen is really small so I'm not able to really determine the graphical details all that well.
Pre-rendered trees were kind of off-putting at parts but I thought it looked real good. I didn't like the cock-pit view all that much tho.
@BertusHH Agreed, I just got it today and played it for a few hours and the graphics are crap, the shadows are all screwed up, lots of jaggies, the environment looks like crap. The Top Gear Test Track looks like some first year graphics artists attempt at a project and on top of it all most of the cars are missing the in-cockpit view. How the hell did it take them so long to release such crap. If only my G25 was supported for Forza I would never touch GT5 again.
@FordGTMaster Game is out now and it doesnt just look worse it also runs worse tears li´ke a mofo and has incredibly long loading times. It also got shitty review scores.
@BertusHH "Oh wow. Someone gave the game an opinion and its automatically an inferior game compared to FORZA." Well sir, I say to you. What racing game do you know that has the level of detail in each premuim car on the consoles? Dont even say FORZA 3 because FORZA 3 is a fraud. They say it has like 1 million polygons per car. WRONG. It only has 1,000,000 polygons per car in the dealership and photomode. In actual gameplay, it has less than 300,000 polygons. Look it up.
forza 3 an 2 run a full 60fps,an gt gameplay runs at 60fps,1080p,an da replays r 30fps!!! trus me gt will fuk it up wen it cums to engine performance,so far da alpha textures hav been limited, watch da full game,i cant wait,i hope they have weather patterns an custoisin like forza
Both games run at high res and high fps. Forza seems to have the advanatage on some environmental aspects tho, like, as u've mentioned, track deformation and weather effects. I don't think weather will be a bit part of GT5 although, there'll probably be trials and license tests that feature weather, like it was done in GT4.
I believe I've read in a bunch of places that the human eye can really only detect up to 30 frames. But we do notice a bit of difference when the footage is in 60 frames. But as far as actually seeing it, I don't believe so.
Lighting is a tough, controversial topic I feel. I've read around that GT5 will have ray tracing and all that impressive stuff but there are also people arguing that GT5's reflective lighting cuts corners and there are images in which shadows are poorly done on GT5.
From all I've seen, I will say that I prefer the looks of lighting on GT5 but I won't be certain unless I play both games.
I think that the main reason why GT looks so much better than FM is because GT has so much more of natural lighting. FM has that cartoon lighting that you were talking about, which for me is fine. Though i prefer more of a natural feel. Now the car models of each game are just fantastic, i just thought it was kinda weird that FM's models are only in their full poly count when you're in the garage viewer. But when all said and done, i am more an FM fan, but i still love GT.
Oh and....I can't watch part 1 and 2 of this comparison for some reason. Giving me "This video is not available in your country due to copyright restrictions". Not sure why its just those two vids, don't know if you can fix anything on your end.
Oh, and II guess you're in one of those countries. You know, would you like for me to I reupload Pt1 and Pt2 but with just an image or two in the background so that it wont get flagged for using copyrighted footages? That would be only way for me to bypass the YouTube copyright issue on my end. If you don't mind that, I'll definitely upload a screenshot presentation versions of the first two videos. How's that sound?
I think the reason why GT5 looks so good is because of the near-perfect lighting and reflections. Forza 3 looks great too, but doesn't have the "wow" effect that Gran Turismo is famous for. A bit too cartoony, flashy. It seems as if the first thing that Polyphony Digital got right was lighting, reflections, and colors. Then over the years they have just added detail and improved on what was already superb.
The human eye can see far more than 30fps.

To bad all that footage of GT5 is fake. Play GT5 academy to see how it looks for real. Looks shitty.

Gran turismo 5 uses 400,000 polygons for every one of those 1,000 cars. That, and the incredible lighting and reflections that it uses.

the reason why gt5 looks better than forza 3 is because forza is on xbox 360 while gt 5 is on ps3!!!
Residentevilbeater 2 years ago 2
the reason it looks better is nearly 6 years of development time vs 2. I got married and had 2 children since GT4.
