eh....i thought this new splatterhouse was ok. i just wish they had more enemies in the origional games and remade some of the old music. and its kinda cool to hear jim cummings voice the mask....but after a while it gets annoying
I really like the remake personally! Of course, the main draw for me was the arcade game, but I think pretty much everybody was looking forward to playing that again.
There is a way to download different masks on the newer games. One or two of them vaguely resemble the red and white masks from the original and its ports I think. But yeah, he looks a lot like Jason Voorhees of Friday the 13th fame.

When you get to Biggie Man, you should have 2 shotguns, with more than enough bullets to kill Biggie with ease.
Yep. It takes exactly 10 shells to put Biggy Man down, 6 less than what you have with 2 shotguns. But yeah, without that trick, he is a pain in the ass for sure.

The old rick is very outdated for todays generation gameing so the newer look is better but I think namco could have done better plus he looks more like jason voorhees.

I don't understand it. I've read about a lot of people saying the new version of Rick (with Terror Mask) is way too buff and shit, but looking at the comparison in this video there really isn't that much of a difference in the muscle mass to that of the old character. Its simply that his head is smaller compared to the rest of his body so it gives the illusion of him being "too big" when, in fact, he merely has a case of the small heads.

@Cubivore10 When I look at video games like this that have been made from older games or based off of them I try to not look at them like most people do. I don't see an old game getting recreated, I see a whole 'nother universe with better graphics and completely different elements. Like with comics. What happened to gold, silver, and bronze age heroes? NOTHING, they're still there with their stories and such, but different universe :D
@Cubivore10 That makes sense, since all the mask did in the original series was give Rick superhuman strength. The supernatural abilities weren't even introduced until part 3, and those were only the ability to turn into a stronger form and the spike attack.

I have to say that the only way I can accept this is as a sequel. This being a remake is like Doom3 being a pure remake. Its not. I can understand the other biggy man being a new monster inspired by him, giving him new character as I think he's a cool monster, but I dislike where all this is going as a remastering.
A sequel = we're bound and is a rehash? Re-imaginning = sky's the limit. Sorry but a sequel is one in the same as a re-imaginning.
Realy, the story is so different and new at the same time to that this is a sequel, all about the same Jennifer plot...blah blah. Realy, the worst bit is that they I think are using the US version of the story that used to have massive gaps in SH2. Its more typical and made less sense with their attires.
I have my own ideas on a real remastering of the original versus this. I just don't like how they took the powered up version and made it the defualt. I also don't like how the mask meets him like in the sequels. Its better that he has no will over this and ends up in that weird zone the monsters come from that he has to escape first.
So all that there makes me say sequel and not remastering/redoing of the original more thought provokingly.

Indeed to all the naysayers, I feel that making them look average is the point. They were nothing special, just a couple of underclassmen at a local college. Jennifer looks like an average college student because she IS. Why wouldn't she dress in the fashoin of the time. And Rick should wear a normal pair of jeans and some sneakers, but are obviously torn to shreds during the transformation. Hate to break it to the geniuses, but EVERYTHING has already been done. Just got to make it fun!

Rick is every WWF wrestler with a hockey mask on. Jennifer is every under-graduate girl on the face of the planet. Put chainsaws on the hands of anyone and call it Biggy Man? Wtf is going on here? Splatterhouse fans put on the shit protection SPF 256 gazillion.
As it's been said already, there is a new design for biggy man that more closely resembles the original. Though the "big fatty man" could probably still be used in the game, possibly as a lesser foe. And also, from what I know of Splatterhouse 1's story, Rick and Jennifer were parapsychology students that wanted to study Dr. West... Or something. Rick only became a hulking monstrosity because of the terror mask.
The Boreworm Nest and the Poltergeist Room should make a comeback as well., but this time as sub-bosses cause you guys know how easy it was blowing past both of those bosses. And finally, the Bubble Fetsus which tend to piss off everyone.
Well maybe, they already changed Biggy Man to his original self, and I saw what looked like boreworms in the trailer (albeit small ones). The thing is that they're changing the story too, so for all we know they might make sequels which could (and Major emphasis on might and could) loosely follow the original storyline. However, all we can really do is hope for the best. Not that it really matters to me since I don't own any of the consoles the game will come out on, but I do like this series.

The mask gives Rick all those muscles.. because I mean in the blurry/concealed pictures we DO see of him in past games, he looks like a normal skinny dude.. and he even has hair! For some reason the mask makes him bald.. and a hulk lol

To be fair, Mr. Rick did become incredibly muscular in Splatterhouse 3, especially during that overdrive transformation thing. . . So I think this new look is rather awsome.

Splatter house 3 uses a power up in order to make Rick stronger, he is not always walking like that in the game

I think the new look suites Rick, I mean in the games he could tear through monsters in one punch, so he needs to be ripped. And he did look a little too similar to Jason: This new version makes him more unique.

Indeed to all the naysayers, I feel that making them look average is the point. They were nothing special, just a couple of underclassmen at a local college. Jennifer looks like an average college student because she IS. Why wouldn't she dress in the fashoin of the time. And Rick should wear a normal pair of jeans and some sneakers, but are obviously torn to shreds during the transformation. Hate to break it to the geniuses, but EVERYTHING has already been done. Just got to make it fun!

As it's been said already, there is a new design for biggy man that more closely resembles the original. Though the "big fatty man" could probably still be used in the game, possibly as a lesser foe. And also, from what I know of Splatterhouse 1's story, Rick and Jennifer were parapsychology students that wanted to study Dr. West... Or something. Rick only became a hulking monstrosity because of the terror mask.

Well maybe, they already changed Biggy Man to his original self, and I saw what looked like boreworms in the trailer (albeit small ones). The thing is that they're changing the story too, so for all we know they might make sequels which could (and Major emphasis on might and could) loosely follow the original storyline. However, all we can really do is hope for the best. Not that it really matters to me since I don't own any of the consoles the game will come out on, but I do like this series.
