My grandfather had a black one, and it was f*ckin perfect -- garaged, and perfetly maintained by local Ford dealer. Wish I had it now, but when he died it was sold.....

yes its a generator but some convert it becasue an alternator is very much reliable than the generaotr but if you are nostlagic you will prefer the generator..if you put an alternator there will be a better electrical distribution all through out the car...

I did that to mine. He is saying how original it is, yet it has an alternator, which didn't become standard until 65... thats all.
