I swear these old macbook pros are wonderful fast machines that can do almost anything, but they have major problems with the aluminum bodys, they bend too easily and get pretty dinged and scratched up. But cosmetic issues aside they still are pretty tough, I have an original 2006 macbook pro still a great machine that does everything and then some. My only complaint is the battery, but the same thing could be said about batteries for all laptops of that era.
@aflockofmusic2 I agree completely. In fact, I am still using the same computer from the video. My biggest complaint is the battery. I have replaced it once. I'm waiting for this machine to die so I can get a unibody design - maybe one of the new MacBook Airs :)
Seems like your have problems with the battery. Try with another original battery. Some batteries do not have a proper fit and will cause this type of distortion or bulging problem.
man do you try and put your hands through the top of your MBP while typing? like its a palm rest not a push up machine. people dont push down on their computers that hard and if they do they need to have a mental evaluation done cause thats no normal.
The MacBook Pro isn't a balloon, so it has many holes to let air out, so what you just said is bull, and secondly, if the battery had exploded, perhaps it might be noticable?
@ProjectZro no big deal. The title is a little deceptive I guess. I didn't know the DS had physical connection, I thought they were magnetic. Never like to see stuff break...
it wasnt that it was part of the case would bend out and the top screen was warped so it wouldnt close properly. and it uses a magnetic reed switch to put it to sleep
iti si because you are blocking the space where heat air goes out then air is coompressed inside or when the macbook battery is old,it burst so change it
no this is not a worthless vid. actually thank you for showing us this..apple is an awsome computer or should i say the software on the apple computer..this should not be possible to happen if you pay 1000 and more for your computer. so this is an excelent point that ur paying for 1. APPLE name brand 2. THis is the only thing that has this software
i own a mac book pro and i was a member for the 1 to 1 and all that stuff my friend had this problem and they repaired it for free so try taking it to the tect ppl
I did take it to the Apple store and they gave me some good advice. I wasn't really worried about the problem. In fact, I only posted the video to show my friend what I was talking about.
When you spend 2000 on a laptop, your aloud to ask, why isnt this perfect. Fit and finish should be perfect and it should be giving you handjobs while using it.
When you spend $2000 on a computer you shouldn't be -ALLOWED- to ask why it isn't perfect. You gave Apple the money, they gave you something in return. If it cost $100,000 it wouldn't be any different.
ok this is what oyu do mon you fix it then sell it then buy a alien laptop witch are cheaper then mac air and run way better trust me you would be more happyer and # 1 alien is the number 1 computer company with high graphic computers microsoft just has gagits that are crap
IT SEEMS TO ME THE MORE YOU PAY FOR A LAPTOP, THE MORE CRAPPY THE BUILD QUALITY. i paid $3000 for my vaio and the battery is well loose, i looked on cheaper models in the vaio range and they are quite tight to the body of the laptop..
Dude sony laptops have really bad build quality if you want really good quality when it comes to laptops Apple is the way to go with their new macbooks
Or go with the laptop brands that make motherboards to, Like Asus for example, their laptops are waayy better and cheaper then HP, Dells, Compaqs, Gateways, and MACS! I spent $950 for an Asus G50VT-X1 and $2000 on a macbook pro, both 15", and the hardware in the asus has way faster components....wtf?!?! Both are solid, except the hinge on MB pro, and havnt had problems with either. I am now convinced you are paying for the name when buying from apple.
why u wanna have a laptop for more than 3 years? i think aluminum is great, my computer desktop is like it and very happy with the results :)~ glad u got one as for a laptop, I like them plastic or whatever comes along. wish laptop could be easy to upgrade some important hardware.
I visited a Mac Genius and he told me that he has seen this many times - but has never seen it break. He told me to trust the aluminum strength and if I really wanted to, put ONE drop of super glue in the gap. There is a magnesium substance on the other side and the glue won't hurt anything.
Got the same alluminum part bulging out. Not as much as yours (and it doesn't move if I put pressure on the top case). Never complained with apple because I bought my mbp refurbished. Even so Apple should replace the part or give a new machine. Afterall it is a 2000 $ machine....
Set your MacBook Pro trackpad to accept a 2-finger click as a right-click and you'll never look back. Much better than 2 buttons because you can do it anywhere on the trackpad.
Just thought I throw it out there that I have this problem too on my 17" Santa Rosa Macbook Pro. blicksflicks pretty much summed it up, terrific software, terrible hardware.
macadamfamily, I would carry it back to Apple repair. Mine doesn't do that. It's solid. Never bulges. I have the 17" Macbook Pro 2.4GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo. Don't know if that makes a difference, but I would take it back. It could be a bad make or something. something rare indeed.
angrysausage, better tell that to the stock holders then, because Apple stock is looking a heck of a lot better than the rest of them. iPod, iPhone, Macbook Pro. Last I heard, the Macbook Pro sold big in 2007. So, I think you're wrong about Apple. They're already approaching 10% of the market and it will continue to rise with the better operating system and Xserv.
Dude, I wasn't being seriously, and besides Dell is probably doing just as good. But I'm not saying Dell is any better, I like both of them just as much.
Actually, angrysausage, Dell isn't doing just as good as Apple. Apple market share is increasing. Dell's is decreasing. Hurt'n man. Michael Dell is hurting bad. Back in the 90s, Dell was soaring, but these days, Dell isn't king anymore.
Oh, well I still like my Dell. Besides I have never actually used a Mac myself, and my friends say they're absolutely shit and that you can get much better without paying so much. One thing I don't like about Apples notebooks is the no right click. I mean if they're supposed to be able to operate side by side with Windows shouldn't they have right click?. I mean their mice do.
What do you mean by "right click?" I have a wireless mouse for my Macbook Pro, and I have a right click and a left click. I don't get what you mean? Macs aren't crap. Mac makes better stuff, far better design and far less cords than PC arena. As for "right click," I never could understand what people mean by that. My right click works fine. Ever though about buying a mouse with right click and left click and just plugging it into USB 2.0? Hmmm, guess you didn't think of that. Macs use any mouse.
What I'm saying is the NOTEBOOKS dont have right click in the trackpad. I also said that Apples mice do. Read my comment again. I didnt explain very well. Soz.
angrysausage. LOL I love that name. angrysausage. Anyway, Macs don't need a track pad with right click. Very few people even use the track pad, I would imagine. I just plugged in a notebook Logitech mouse with left and right lick. USB 2.0. It was not more than $30. Really nice Logitech mouse. As for the track pad, that's not true either, because the track pad has one button, but a right and left click on it. lol Oh well, guess you didn't know that.
Probably not, but there's a good explanation. I just cant remember though. It was a lil while back. Also, after I thought its what he said. I made the new account then showed him. He was so confused coz I'd still thought thats what he'd said then he explained it to me. I cant remember what it is he actually said.
Well, that's not true. I see what you mean. Right click on track pad. Yep, you're right. But, why not just plug in a USB 2.0 mouse? Simple as that. That's a less than $30 problem, mate. :)
Ahhh, I got you now. Yeah, notebooks don't have right click. My Macbook Pro doesn't either, and I have hte top end one from last year. 17". But, I just got me a wireless mouse and never use the track pad. Like you said. Mice do.
