This is a great video.

A santised hand is as clean as anything else that is sanitised in the brewing process.

I bought an autosiphon and it is a useless gimic, does not seal right and sucks air into the siphon, real good for the beer.

I chopped it up and now use this method, not a single air bubble into the beer.

Thanks for clarifying. But keep in mind that your beer has alcohol in it at the point of racking and is very resistant to infection. Using your mouth to siphon is probably more sanitary than touching your racking cane and putting your thumb over the end of the tubing. Cheers.

hmmm, it's beer not 150 proof vodka that can kill bacteria bluemystic... beer is very susceptible to bacteria even after it's first fermentation stage. So, use neither your mouth or thumb, an "auto-siphon racking cane" would be the ideal solution. Thanks for the video mate, you gotta love haters.

@bluemystic7502 Your mouth has much more bacteria than your hands at any given point. I realize sucking on it has always worked for you but I'd rather drink beer which was brewed by people who took all steps necessary to keep the process sanitary. Besides, you can just pinch the tube closed and not even touch anything, or use an autosiphon. And ask your fellow BJCP members what they think of the sucking method : )
