thanks - bluebanshee3 and firsttooth - you got what i was going for - this video quality is terrible - let me know if you'd like copies as intended to be seen.
I keep thinking of permanence and impermanence when i see it, and of human separateness and connectedness at once. It feels so solemn but joyful too. :)
family outings on top of a landmark of its time in new york looking presumably toward the sea, on the other side of which are family outings to what may have been a landmark of its time, a megalithic tomb in county clare, ireland. or is this too obvious?
- Art doesn't have to make sense, it is simply there to challenge / entertain / perplex / annoy / stimulate (etc.)
- Music (like video) is ART. There are no rules except those which are expedient to obtain the desired creative result.
- Whenever a work of ART becomes a commercial success the ad hoc rules used become embodied; a stylized formula is thus created in an attempt to repeat the commercial success.
- Such formulaic music probably accounts for 95% of all popular music sold.
For me, the music is much better without these pictures. Where's the forest, the camp-fire, the insects? The video means nothing (or little), as far as its relationship to the music is concerned, and it doesn't even begin at the beginning. The people enjoying spending this time (supposedly four days) with each other is right, but I'd like to hear from David Ellsworth what his intentions were for the rest, or rather for the video as a whole.
I don't speak much Italian (only musical terms) but Google translates that as "but who the fuck are you saying???????". I presume it's slightly mistranslated it, but you're saying basically the same thing in the two languages. What I'm saying is that I think the pictures don't live up to the sound. I presume you like the music - as I do - but do you like this video that goes with it?
Since when was it a requirement for video and audio to correspond? Throughout the history of music videos, only a hand full amongst hundreds of thousands have had videos that corresponded with the music. Who's to say this doesn't make sense to the creator of the video? You certainly are in no place to say such a thing. Artistic interpretation will always vary per person. The first music video on MTV, Video Killed the Radio Star by The Buggles, made absolutely no sense. Enough said.
I'm not presuming to say that 'this doesn't make sense to the creator of the video': I would like to hear David's thoughts on it so I can better understand where he's coming from. My original comment is merely my opinion on the video, not intended to be extended to all music videos. What are your thoughts on this video, torgosassistant?
Ver lo que es la arquitectura, el sentido de observar desde el futuro, que ademas nos muestra un esplendor pasado... algo de este video me lleva, rumbo al concepto de la casa de Wright.
gracias...
to see what is the architecture, the sense to observe from the future, that shows to a splendor last... something of this video takes to me, course to the concept of the Wright house.
how can bakbak5 make such a trite observation? Have you never enjoyed an independant film or listened to ambient instrumental music. Just stick with the corporate MTV videos and keep your lack of education to yourself, buddy.

That's kind of a suprising viewpoint; most people usually say that Millions and TNT were their best, and after that they have (arguably) declined.

Standards?

all of you idiots are wrong, tortoise ownz with every album.

I prefer TNT and Standards over any of their other work.

this is typical tortoise brilliance. if you don't get the music or the video, then it can't be explained to you.

I think it's a fantastic clash of media, in my opinion.
Thank you for being diplomatic and mature about our little misunderstanding, unlike most users on this site.
