So the Chad Smith snare has a really nice crack when tuned at high volume, which is all I've seen it at in any video I view. Would anyone happen to know if it maintains a thickness and a crack when tuned low?

pretty nice jam but i got one advice: flams on the snare drum sound awesome in funk... they give the whole thing a nice fresh kick and more power... just don't use them TOO often xD

Hey thanks. I was using 7 mics. The Audio-Technica AT2021 is visible over the hi-hat but I didn't use it. I am also playing a two floor tom set up here. I usually only play one 16". The 8pre is a great piece of equipment. Good luck!
