I have a history of everything from Slayer to No Doubt. This is one of the perfect songs ever made. Quintessential "wuss rock". I mean that as a total complement. Right up there with Seals and Croft and others. Shameful that this is not available on iTunes!
such an awesome song indeed. memories of 1982 for me. i'm a dj and i play all the latest dance remixes but nothing comes to songs like this where u can sit back and relax and reminisce the good old days.
paul davis was a musical genious,he not only had the music that was free from the entities that exist today,he put his heart and soul into his work, the only negative thing I have to say is that I'm broken hearted to hear of his passing,I'm sure you folks understand.
"You don't have to a stand, lay out any plans..." Man how many woman would swallow that one? That's a mack line if I ever heard one! You won't get that "kiss me through the phone!" Miss real music and thought provoking lyrics.
I'm 24 and i love this song lol. I love all the old songs so much better than the music now a days. Their is so much more meaning to music then. I often tell people i was born in the wrong era most chuckle when they hear this.
I’m coming from an electronic-industrial-hard rock music background (Ministry, Skinny Puppy, NIN, etc), but this song has always transported me to another place, another time, and another life. It is such a PERFECT song. There is nothing out of place in it. Paul’s voice, the lyrics, the production, the guitar solo at 2:12, short, concise, stunning, gives me goose bumps. And the change of key at 2:35, only adds to its perfection. Thank you, Paul, for creating such a beautiful and timeless song...
This man's voice was angelic, and I really miss him not being in the flesh with us, but he's now surely singing with other angels, who must feel very blessed to have him among them.
At 31 years old I can't even begin to imagine how, but I feel like I've got an emotional connection to this and Sweet Life. These songs leave me speechless and feeling very humble.
Everytime summer starts giving way to the cooler weather of fall and winter I've heard bits and pieces of this song in my mind, yet it had been years since I heard it anyplace. Now in my midlife I find it again as I remember it, to the note. So many songs I've heard in my youth and liked it for the words and music, yet not mature enough to REALLY understand what the artist was trying to get across. Now I hear it mid-40's and understand on that third level. TYVM for posting this bit of nostalgia
All of us on the post comments .. feel the same.. reminded of such great memories and times in our lives when life seemed to mean more back then..music , life ,living was so much easier ..more love period.. now seemz like illuminati controls everything.. and theres no quality with anything..
This is real music!!! I think as the years go by the music, culture, media and everything just keeps moving forward. Remember Records and Cassette Tapes and Vhs Video Tapes? Less then 2 decades ago all these things were still around. Now we have DVDS , mp3 's and Bluy Ray. And music that these days has no emotion!!!
wow....I just keep finding the great songs that bring back wonderful or sad memories. The times I'd lay there and listen to this and others....dreaming. Wondering where there was a man for me when I was young...to 'romance' me like this. I never knew what this guy looked like til now. DANG...he was a major hottie. He could sing softly to me any time. All the guys who are now older...I think they all drugged themselves out of society. The ones around are so mindless...so few are keepers..
i looooooovvvvveeeee this song!
