CG always looks too obvious to me, so if they really are doing a new Thing with all puppetry, it should look awesome.

@Scythemantis Modern animatronics can be cool they were used in the first AvP film and their creatures turned out quite well, but I would have thought that CGI would have been perfect for 'The Thing' something that needs to be full of all sorts of misshapen strangely moving abominations.

@Scythemantis i know the coments i'm responding to are old but I'm a huge fan of the thing and i saw th new movie a week ago. Most of it was CG, but it was very detailed and there was only one part where it looked EXTREMELY cheesy. But that only lasted about 0.5 seconds. over all it was great since it explains the story of the people who originally found the ship and the thing. But the coolest part was the end. It ended with a norwegian guy getting on a helicopter and chasing a dog. Remember?
