Robert Pollard and his music, for the past 15 years, has been my inspiration, my reason to work and wake and persevere. I do not think that I would be who I am today without his boundless contributions to our culture. I carry his words and melodies with me everyday, and this piece is simply a flag that I fly in his name.
It was a joy to shoot and edit GOLD STAR FOR ROBOT BOY with you, Josh. I'm a fan of yours, as you know, as well as Mr. Pollard. I wanted to bring, visually, to this piece what you brought musically and Robert Pollard brought lyrically. Your theatrical direction along with my cinematography and editing, I feel, truly expresses the message you wanted to send to the world. This sincerely is a piece that I am proud of and happy to say I produced with you for the great Robert Pollard.
Hey Everyone- I just want to thank you all for all the comments- positive and negative. We could not ever match the power of this song, nor the power and passion and artistry of Robert Pollard. We were just trying to honor and dramatize a small segment of his expansive inner narrative.
Everyone usually just straight-copies GBV songs. This is the most original and imaginative interpretation I've seen/heard ....it works on every level (including 7th!!), Kudos!
This is incredible, you guys should be very proud, this is a fine piece of work in a original context based on an already fabulous piece of art, that's hard to do
wow that was so fucked up, but really awesome. I love how such an awesome GBV song is used in this short film. That female singer does a great job. Very unique and just fuckin' awesome.
interesting and imaginative interpretation. thanks for sharing.
