Its not like he is throwing twice as much power that the subs are rated either. He needs at least 6 cubes per 18 right? @biggjern I still have to do my roof but have a total of maybe 50 bucks in butyl peel and seal and foam. know blazers rattle like crazy my tailgate is solid now and glass is good rope inside of the weatherstriping . still have roof flex side windows and handles rattle. will eventually get to it. need a better amp first. single 15" ti right now

@Biggjern even if not metering spending all kinds of money to get loud why not take a cheap route brace your shit and get louder. Even never metering you will notice the difference by ear and feeling it and will give better all around performance. Dunno about others usually do the prep before putting something in but also seal the vehicle vents! Yes sucks when open/close window at higher speeds or someone slams a door but makes a big difference playing the system.

point 2 is wrong, deadener works by adding mass (weight) to the panel, this can eliminate a small amount of flex but in no way can prevent an entire body panel from bending from the pressure. Also, the aluminium is to spread the load through the entire sheet of deadening material (butyl etc.)
point 3 is also wrong, flex, while relevant to the spl of the system, gives no indication of whose is louder, prove that this guy hasn't already re-enforced the panels that flex the that they DON'T. (Like he said, flex isn't a good thing). Again, a flexing panel is reducing SPL.
@dragonlaz5 Exactly! They do things like that to be loud. Some people know that you can seal here, deadener there to get louder by ear, but they see it's not worth it. I'm one of those people. I'm not gonna seal my trunk off or whatever just to get louder because I don't believe it's worth the trouble. Think about it: $1000 worth of things to fix the car up for loudness or $600 worth of extra equipment to get just as loud?
Point 4 is wrong, manufacturers box recommendations are often based off of the T/S specs of the speaker and a computer calculated enclosure size. Many times a better sized box for both sealed and ported have been found by experimenting with different custom enclosures

2) Deadener does eliminate flex, the "shiny" layer is actually a metal which helps with the strengthening.
3) Anybody who has a lot of flex, obviously has a louder system to you.. so why are you complaining about their system?
