Great shot! Not that many hunters could have pulled that off. For the haters his pistol is made for just that type of shot and should not not be confused for a handgun shot off hand. Shooting at long distance is a skill not many have achieved. As far as being ethical the animal dropped what else do you want? If the conditions at the time were not ideal I doubt he would have taken the shot. A luxury not afforded in competition. Once again CONGRATS!
@abbygirl3030 Your uncle has every right to be excited.I personally would not have even tried at that distance so Kudos to him and kudos to you guys for getting filmed:)
Given an infininate number of monkeys with an infinate number of typerwriters and eventaully all the great works of literature will eventually be written. I've competed in 1000 yard matches, even made the shoot off in the Wimbledon one year at Camp Perry, but taking a shot at a live animal at this distance couldn't be any more unethical. Sure you hit and killed this animal with one shot, but the chances of you judging the wind and you and your rifle doing this consistantly are absurd.
This is my uncle, maybe it is a one and a million shot but I can assure u that he did it, and to be honest I bet anything he could do it again. He is a huge hunter and been doing it all his life. He has shot things before at a far distance this being the farthest. So what he's excited... oh im guessing u wouldn't be Mr. Unethical shot? Come on give credit where its due!!!
that is my uncle and i can assure u he did that and he could also do it again...yes it might have been a one in a million shot and he got excited, i guess u wouldnt have been? please... hes damn good at what he does.
highly unethical shot. However also a very good shot in terms of skill. The carry on after the shot is proof enough that an ethical shot at that distance is not repeatable. I still remember when people used to actually "hunt".....
@alandonald I disagree, the fact that he has honed a skill level to being able to make that shot, shows extreme commitment. It was a great shot, and great follow through, in my opinion.
@camjet515 What a load of crap. I suggest you go and watch the reaction of golfers when they land a "hole in one" pretty much identical to how this shooter reacted. Regardless of skill level it's not a shot that is ethically repeatable, if this shooter carries on rolling the dice he'll wound a lot of animals, I suspect that has already occurred, funny how people don't seem to post those vids.....
@alandonald Just because you don't have the equipment, knowledge, or ability to make a shot like that doesn't mean it is unethical. Proving your point by comparing golf to hunting is pretty weak. How do you know he could not repeat that shot? If he could, would consider it ethical?
@geargrinder123 Firstly you don't know what equipment I do or don't have and you don't know the skill I posses, making assumptions makes you look foolish. Secondly the golf analogy is 100% accurate, I can post a video of a hole in one, does not mean I can do it again at will, that does not change the fact that it's an impressive shot, just not easily repeatable. I know this shot is unethical based simply on the bullets time of flight. Deer are not static targets, they move, wind can change etc
@geargrinder123 Take a target the size of the vital zone on a deer, place it over 900 yards away in varied conditions, attach a motor to the target that causes it to move unpredictably and without warning and then post how many hits are realistic under those conditions. We both know that consistent and repeatable ethical kills are impossible under the conditions I've described and yet you'll continue to argue against simple facts. Good shot - yes, unethical - yes.
@alandonald We are still arguing because what you are considering "facts" are far from it. We are still arguing because you didn't answer my question. I'll ask it again. If the shot is repeatable, would you consider it ethical? What do you consider an ethical distance? Is it the same for everyone?
Great shot, great video! Thank you so much for also adding a detailed description of the gun and load.

Why make it into a pistol instead of a short, heavy-barreled rifle?

Mortar fire hits something dead on now and then too...
That kind of shot in the game field is a STUNT and nothing more IMO....(And damn lucky not to have wounded the one standing in front of the one hit!)

Ethics Smethics, it was a great shot.
Perhaps there should be note put on the front of this video that "window lickers off the school special bus need not post"
