  • im only 13 and i think this is the college i want to attend. Thank god it in Pittsburgh (anthrocon here i come!)

  • Wtf was that music?

  • Sex kills so come to cmu and live forever

  • I though CMU was #1 in Multimedia, yet this video is crap.

  • @izlight598 This person probably isn't affiliated with the school.

  • I heard so many horrible things about this place.

  • Do you go there? And if you do, do you think they have a good psychology department? Also, are other big cities in the eastcoast easily accessible through public transportation?

  • I am a current CMU student...andI LOVE it! To me, campus is what you make it. If you sit in your room and don't try to have a social life...it will be exactly that for you.

  • @pmahaley so it's possible to have a good social life? how is it for u?

  • @xxdriv123 omg yesssss! Honestly, there is a lot of school work..which can be extremely stressful, but at the same time I think my last two years at CMU have been some of the most fun years of my life!!!

The social life is great! I will admit that there are some weirdos and socially awkward people there, but there are also TONS people who you will just naturally click with! I think as a whole, the student body is very friendly (way more friendly than the ppl i went to high school with)

  • @pmahaley Thanks. I'm going to senior year of HS and this is a school I'm definitely thinking about applying to. Just wanted to know more about the social life because I've heard different things. For example, I heard most kids just sit in their dorms doing work ALL the time. So i was hesitant. Every school has weirdos and socially awkward people so that's not a problem. Thanks for the info. Definitely gonna apply this fall. Wish me luck!

  • i hear they don't give financial aid is that true?

  • @dmowashere Nope! The give need based financial aid. Trust me...lol.

  • Thanks for the video- however, I was hoping for a more professional job- it would have been nice to see names of the various buildings so that I could identify the changes that have occurred since I graduated in 1948 !!!

  • is the school of design, specifically Industrial Design, good? Is the program more geared towards science or art? how are the students there? Is it really a boring place?

  • I am a graduate of CMU. It is the most boring school I have ever known and Pittsburgh is the most boring City one can ever live. I made the wise decision of transferring to UC Berkeley when I was at graduate school. May be it is unfair to compare the Pitts (name of the city speaks for itself) to the great city of San Francisco and beautiful State of California but beware. Pittsburgh people are totally provincial and boring and so are the students at CMU.

  • @guntul1243 cs?

  • @guntul1243 To each their own I suppose.

  • I was a student at CMU, received my BA and started graduate school but made the wise decision of transferring to UC Berkeley. CMU is a BORING School. No fun, nothing interesting, and students who attended CMU were totally boring and uninteresting people. Pittsburgh is a horrible place to live, people are totally provincial.. My feelings about CMu and Pittsburgh got even worse when I moved to the great City of San Francisco and wonderful State of California.

  • The Music is killing the video for me!

  • im interested in video and audio editing/production, is this a good fit?

  • Is this really a hard college to get into? im in to architecture. Please give me tips and info about this place.

    Thanks.

  • I LOVE THIS SCHOOL! TOP CHOICE! I really hope I get in for Musical Theatre!

  • @MadisonLProbst

CMU has such a top notch arts program! I certainly hope you get in! Best of luck!

  • I LOVE THIS SCHOOL! I really hope I get it for Musical Theatre!

  • Love the music you've chosen. Can you tell me what it is and who is performing it? My son is at CMU now. Great school and we love Pittsburgh.

  • @finnguy693

Thank you so much for appreciating the song in this video, and for letting me know you loved it. We share a great taste in music, don't we? :-) It was composed by a musician who is actually a physics and math major, having been played for the first time in this video, by the CMU brass group. I hope your son is also enjoying CMU and thriving!

  • how much is the workload compared to a state school?

  • @t8trg8tr

I think CMU has a heavier workload.

  • hi, im planning to apply to CMU, but i have a few concerns

One, is safety an issue in Pittsburgh? Is it only safe around the university campus?

Next, is the work load really as bad as they say? Like all work no fun/time for recreation?

    thanks :)

  • @RodrigoVanilla93

As far as I know, Pittsburgh in general has no extra safety issues as any other medium to large cities in the US. It is safer near CMU's campus, even though you need to be aware of your surroundings at night. The workload is intense, but students find time to have fun. If you get organized and know your priorities, you may do pretty well.

  • does computer engineering at cmu covers all the topics of computer science ?

  • @shivamchauhan19

I'm sorry, I don't have enough info to be able to respond to your question. In my opinion, though, knowing that CMU is extremely strong in the area of computer science, I would suppose it covers all topics. I suggest you call that specific department and ask.

  • i am only 15 years old n i want to be an engineering when i grow up and some people from that unversity are going to my school to said stuff about the university and can you give tips whats the best university to go and is that university fun? well i know i am only 15 but this is the stuff i am looking in unversity or colloge alot of fun n , study engineering n get the degree

  • Hi MsPeace518! CMU is a great school for engineering, but you will need to study intensively. If you want to have loads of fun as well, you may prefer to look more into the 'party colleges' with a lighter dose of expectations and studies... Your choice will depend on your goals for your life and career.

  • @MsPeace518

I'm glad to hear you are only 15, and already interested in charting a great future for you, perhaps in a wonderful university such as CMU. With such intentions, you WILL have lots of success!

  • Thanks for this :) I'm going to CMU in the fall and visiting for the first time next month so this was nice!

  • Hi HappyHannah! I imagine you are starting CMU at this time? I hope you are enjoying everything! Best wishes for a very successful and Haaaapy life! :-)

  • CMU is so small, but it is beautiful

  • I certainly wish you the best of luck and a very happy new year (hopefully as a CMU graduate student!). ;))

  • i really want to go CMU for graduate school :)) hope me best luck :))

  • Luis, you are most welcome! I'm truly happy that you acted upon my suggestions, and that you had a great outcome! Hope you have lots of success and happiness in your journey. (Thank you so much for your feedback. You made my little YouTube presence much worthwhile.)

  • Thank you so much for your comments,Luis. One idea: do a little research on the net to find online resumes of MBA graduates from CMU. See what they've done, perhaps contact some to ask them how they got in? Also, call CMU's business school and ask what do you need to do, what are basic requirements as well as those above and beyond? Wishing you tremendous success, DeeSweet123

  • Thanks so much!! that is also another thing that I have always heard about CMU, excellent people with great camaraderie.....thank you very much for the advice, I actually went online researched a little bit, I found ways to contact students, contact the staff and actually get in line to meet some recruiters on their "on the road" presentations, I guess the more I get involved before actually going through the appl. process the better....really thanks so much for the advice!

  • really nice video. I'm a graduate from Texas A&M University, and since I've first started to think aabout an MBA back in my college years, my dream school was CMU. I work as a mangement consultant now in Dallas and hope that in a couple years I'll get the necessary experience and curriculum to apply succsfully to such a great school, (any tips thankfully welcomed)..Anyways, nice video..thanks a lot!

  • Thank you so much! This brings back so many memories - mostly of hard work!

    Bill - CIT 1986

  • Hi Bill,

I appreciated so much your comment! I'm glad that my little clip brought you those memories (even if they are mostly of that high level effort that CMU requires of its students)... I hope it was all worthy for you!

    Take care!

    DeeSweet123
