  • Yay!!! LSD!

  • I find it fucking hilarious, but still sorta disturbing. I can't imagine what audiences in 71 thought the first time they saw this scene.

  • Yep, no way Johnny Depp can beat him.

  • Still freaks me out.

  • This freaked me the fuck out when I was younger.

  • This is so hilarious.

  • if you don't understand the meaning in this scene, you need to take a step back and examine yourself. try looking past the surface, people. not everything is what it seems on the surface!

  • Oddly enough, this scene never did and still hasn't bothered me. I really don't know why people are so weirded out by this scene.

  • @Angeldemonboy

Me neither. And I used to watch this frequently as a kid!

  • @Angeldemonboy It's the tone of wonka's voice which does it for me, and the fact they don't know where they're rowing to. Not sure what does it for other people, I guess it's the uncertainty, though if I'm in other states of mind I couldn't give a fuck.

  • I love this scene! I like singing the song on rollercoasters. fun fun.

  • "Wow what a lovely boat ride we're going to have! This is neat. I wonder what magical things will stumble on this time. I can't wait! It's gonna be fun! Wait what's that? Oh my... what? WTF!? AHHHHHHHH!!!"

  • it is for trauma.

  • This scene scared the crud out of me when I was younger.

  • SOME ONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT'S THE FUCKING POINT TO THIS SCENE?

  • @CrazyNative4 to disturb & creep your bitchass out duurrrr

  • @irondrumwork09 same here

  • scary as hell !

  • The children love the show, but they fail to see the anguish in my eyes.

  • It should be titled "Willy Wonka and the boat ride of Hell " :)

  • 0:50 Holy shit. This is one fucked up children's movie.

  • I used to hate this movie growing up, thank god I never saw this when I was little.

  • Try watching this when you are 3!

  • There's no earthly way of knowing Which direction we are going There's no knowing where we're rowing Or which way the river's flowing Is it raining, is it snowing Is a hurricane a-blowing Not a speck of light is showing So the danger must be growing Are the fires of Hell a-glowing Is the grisly reaper mowing Yes, the danger must be growing For the rowers keep on rowing And they're certainly not showing Any signs that they are slowing
  • this is just drugged up completely

  • what is that 0:42 and that 0:50 and that 1:00 and that 1:56 please someone explain me

  • @goldfishcarnival the big lipped aligator moment XD

  • through the loop <3

  • lol caspa made a song of this what was it called again??

  • Ya know! For kids!

  • Creepy!!! omg.... that tune....

  • proof that the Director was on drugs

  • Comment removed

  • @dasprin37 Actually, the way I see it the entire movie is an allusion to Dante's Inferno, and each individual room in the factory is a representation of one of the nine circles of hell. This scene is a representation of the river Styx or the fifth circle. Since some of the seven deadly sins are part of the nine circles, you're not entirely wrong, but lust is included, but subtly represented by the candy room. if you want, I can go into more detail

  • i keep expecting there to be a sick drum and bass drop at 1:55

  • According to voters on Times Online, this is scarier than 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre, 'The Omen' and 'Scream' (but not quite as scary as the 'Wizard of Oz'). For some reason this never scared me much, 'Watership Down' on the other hand...

  • There's no earthly way of knowing Which direction we are going There's no knowing where we're rowing Or which way the river's flowing Is it raining? Is it snowing? Is a hurricane a-blowing? Not a speck of light is showing So the danger must be growing Are the fires of hell a-glowing? Is the grisly reaper mowing? Yes, the danger must be growing 'Cause the rowers keep on rowing And they're certainly not showing Any signs that they are slowing!
  • Holy crap I didnt want to believe it craked.com 7 horrifying moments in classic movies

  • 1:03....Satan's favortie song....

  • Anyone who doesn't love this clip shouldn't do hallucinogens.

  • Dude..Willy Wonka has a mad freestyle..

  • they should make a willy wonka ride the same like the boat ride

  • NOT COOL WILLY NOT COOL!!!! I'D SWEAR THIS WAS SOME FREAKY CULT CHANT TO HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    jk.

this scene HORRIFIED me as a kid. as a teenager i just want to go hide under my bed

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING HERE HOLY FUCKING SHIT!

  • I love the part where he just leans in and screams at the end. xD

  • Oh my God I wanna get high while watching this!!!

  • This should be what the end of the "It's a small world" ride at Disneyland is like. It'd be great if it just happened without people knowing (which direction they are going).

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is THE BEST scene in the entire movie. the terror just keeps building, and Gene Wilder is amazing! The rhyme is awesome too :D

  • I came here because BanjoBoy123 liked this.

  • BIG LIPPED ALLIGATOR MOMENT

  • This is WAY more scary than the marilyn manson version

  • Why this insane terror tunnel is in a chocolate factory is beyond me.

  • the best scene of the movie

  • See this didnt scare me when i was a kid. i missed all the scary pics and i didnt listen to the song cuz i liked all the colors but now watching it now i can see how siome pppl found this inappropriate for kids. but the thing is kids dont notice it. well i didn't and i was 7 at the time so yeah

  • KICKS JONNY DEPPS ASS!!!

  • I KNEW PENDULUM GOT THROUGH THE LOOP FROM GENE WILDER! HAHAHA

    BRILLIANT!

  • Well, have to say that this scene seems very much like the inside of your mind when mania starts to go wrong. Saying this from experience. It's a brilliant scene!

  • This part always scared the crap out of me as a kid xD As did Slugworth... weird...

  • I would love to see what the Grizzly Reaper looks like. Sounds like a demon bear with wings to me.

  • @IIIIIACEIIIII

    Grisly reaper, not grizzly.

  • Was this scene backsh*t crazy or what...

  • Fuck watching this when high!

  • 1:53

  • doesnt really scare me so i kinda dissapointed

  • Pendulum has made me never look at Willy Wonka the same way again. (Through the Loop)

  • AND I'VE SECRETLY DRUGGED YOU

  • AT ):40 IS THT A DEAD OOMPA LOOMPA?

  • The scream at the end always gets me XD

  • this = acid trip

  • Thumbs up if you are eating chocolate right now

  • I want to make a ringtone out of this.

  • all footage from the insects on faces, chicken decapitation and old dead grandfathers encyclopedia dvd

  • the ONLY thing that could make this scene more scary is........if it included The Exorcist.

  • Speaking strictly in terms of the movie's universe what are the weird images supposed to represent? Something the tunnel is conjuring up to scare them? Also what does "grisly reaper mowing (moaning?) mean?

  • DILDO'S hahahahahhaha 0:09

  • now listen to revolution 9 while this video is playing

  • It's like, the best thing ever written to put right before someone utterly and completely loses their shit and goes totally insane.

Not a spec of light is showing, so the danger must be growing...

    ...

And their certainly not showing...any signs that they are slowing!

*start stabbing and/or eating people here, until covered in blood*

    *resume normalcy shortly after*

  • Man... this scene scared me to death when I wass 8 years old. Something about that beheading chicken just dosent set right with me. But then again maybe thats was Gene Wilders incredible acting at work

  • "OH make him stop daddy!" That's like the only realistic thing her dad CAN do out of her outrageous wanting it now things. =P

  • "What is this, a Freak Out!?"

  • i wanna learn all of his crazy quotes

  • Johnny Depp can never compair

  • What's that thing from 0:41-0:42

  • Am I the only person who noticed the paddle wheel at the back of the boat was turning the wrong way?

  • 'Haha....Hes singing' :L

  • And at the end of that everybody feels a tiny bit violated and a large bit fulfilled.

  • AH!!!! RUN AWAY! *screams*

  • i want to take a ride on the wondrous boat ride!

  • I FUCKING love this scene, its just so well done. Gene Wilder, you are a brilliant actor!

  • wat creatures r there

  • sick as hell

  • looks scary

  • What the Fuck.....OMG I do NOT remember it being this creepy...

  • @xxchrisalicexx Thats cause political correctness has warped your mind into believeing the world is made out of marshmellows and fluffy pillows and that everyone in the world is so sensitive and kind - and doesnt swear - but if they want to you can never hear it but can only see their mouth moving :L Suprised they show this scene still when it appears on telly. I hate political correctness!

  • Mrs. TV screams like Dory in Finding Nemo XD

  • When I was younger this scene scared the shit out of me.

  • I have an interesting question. with how fast the boat is going in the tunnel, how the hell was willy wonka's hat able to stay on his head the entire time????

  • @metsfreak4life Magic.

  • @snaketalkingtobadger

    of course xD

  • Suddenly you are having a good day at Candyland and the next thing you know... you are on a boat ride to hell......AHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

  • has anyone else noticed how cool the orchestration is on this?

  • that was so awesome

  • This scene scared the everlasting s**t out of me when I was younger. And I always did wonder why they never talked about it again after it happened.

  • God, his scream sends a chill down my spide, what a great actor.

  • ......What....The...F@#K?

  • entertaining children FAIL

  • Imagine a hand would replace the chicken

  • Scary

  • This scene plays in my nightmares.

AND YET I KEEP WATCHING ITASBDKLJASERFINJBSSDEUYHBDqe

  • Hahah, I always sing this.

  • I like Marilyn Mansons version better (;

  • I think Charlie and his grandfather are the only ones that are enjoying this.

  • @TF2Fan101

Note, however, that Grandpa Joe starts getting scared when Wonka starts singing.

  • @A1l2l2e2n4 Yeah, I noticed that the second/third time around.

  • This scene scared me so badly when I was about 5 or so that I didn't watch the movie again for years.

  • "What is this? A freak out!"

    I love Violet!

  • STOP THE BOAT!!!

  • I still don't know what the point of this scene was. Was he trying to scare everybody?

  • @PresidentP no shit

  • Images shown:

    1. A butterfly attempting to escape from a tree; 0:42

    2. A giant millipede crawling across a man's face; 0:44

    3. A chicken getting his head cut off; 0:52

    4. Slugworth; 0:55

    5. A chameleon eating his last part of a fly; 1:02

    6. A CREEPY baige crab with his legs wiggling "in your face"; 1:58

  • I like this version better than the Johnney Depp version. Yes the new version is good and funny, but it just doesn't have that special something that this version has. That and the music. I always love to sing along with the songs they sing. And Willy Wonka's world seems so much better in this than the other one too. It seems so real. Like it can be. Plus I like the relationship connection between Charlie and his grandpa. It doesn't show them as music in the new one like it does in this one.

  • I always get so pissed off everytime they take this scene out everytime they show it on ABC Family. I don't know why they do. Maybe for timing maybe. But everytime they are about to show this scene it goes on commercial. And when it comes back on it shows that the boat ride ended and them entering in the inventing center. I always get mad because this is my upmost favorite part. That and the part with them first seeing the awesome room with the waterfall. And you can't forget the ending too. :D

  • @MrsEmmaPeel07 I actually JUST watched the scene on ABC Family sooo uhhh...that is weird.

  • @Bootes1893

The funny thing is. I watched it again for the first time in awhile on ABC Family and they actually shown the scene. I guess they might have read our complaints here on Youtube and decided to finally show it. lol. I was cheering to myself last night when the scene actually poped up. lol.

  • lmfao. I freakin love this part. Best part of the movie. xD

  • If youve read the book, than you know that this is a very sick scene to begin with.

    I love it!!

  • Pendulum used this with Through The Loop, sick song. but this bits scary. Watch this movie baked

  • 1:54 ownage

  • I'd become a pilot just so I could recite his song over the intercom and scare the shit out of the fliers.

  • @DonZabu You got that from Rifftrax, didn't you?... And I'm thinking of doing the same exact thing, too... :)

  • @DonZabu YES! the dangers must be growing, the propellers keep on rowing and there not showing any signs that they are slowing! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

  • I've always thought this was funny because in such a good movie, this part seemed evil, lol. this and pure imagination are my fav songs from this movie.

  • I made a mistake on my first comment, LSD is a pill drug, you don't smoke it. sorry.

  • This is what made the original for me, and since johnny depp is known to be a musician as well as an actor, I expected to see at the very least this song in there, but what we got was as far away from willy wonka as you can get if you ask me, it has to be real in order for it to LOOK real in this case.

  • This is the best part of the whole movie!

  • veruca's father reminds me of reagan for some strange reason...and charlie's reminds me of einstein.

  • Wonka: "theres no knowing where we're rowing

    Mr. Salt : "Rowing!"

  • Mr Salt: "Heh heh.. he's singing."

  • Mr. Salt: "You can't possibly see where you're going Wonka!"

    Wonka: "You're right.. I can't." :)

  • It's a shame that they don't put more scenes like this in kids movies these days

  • this is the best scene of the movie because there is so much that it could represent. I think that the paradise of the candy room is like the younger years in life and the ride in the boat is when life keeps going and going until it randomly stops at a new destination.

  • @gotnukes70 Thats a very interesting way of looking at it...I like that interpretation

  • my favorite scene ever since I was little =)

  • this song was in a commerical for lost

  • @mahlyenkidyavol223 Actually, "Through the Loop" was on the commercial. But Through the Loop includes this song. So I guess it counts.

  • my only criticism would be that this video should have included veruca salt telling her father that she does NOT want a boat like this...lol...

  • I always loved how Gene Wilder would slowly raise his voice and have that crazy edge in it...Young Frankenstein is another good example I think.

Anyhow when he says that creepy poem and then raises his voice to the end and lets out that long whoooooooooooooooooooooo....DAMN that gives me chills even today! Its great!

  • Mind fuck!

    I love it =D

  • THE BEST WONKA OF THEM ALL!

  • Tim Burton and Johnny Depp ain't got nothin' on this!

  • FASTER GOD DAMMIT!!!!!!!

  • *goosebumps.

  • hilarious :) in a creepy weird but still awesome sort of way lol

  • This scene was and still the reason I watch this movie.

  • That was so awesome that they used this in the LOST promo. Creepy, but so awesome.

  • 4 8 15 15 23 42

  • My tutor and I were singing this in class today. Oh, this scene gives me the creeps. I love WIlly Wonka <33

  • LOST

  • This scene use to scare me as a kid.

  • The strangest thing is that after this tunnel ride, they NEVER mention it again! They move on like it never happened, weird isn't it?

  • @moonchild2006 think of it this way: maybe they want to try to forget about it [as impossible as that is]. i know i would if that were me...

  • That mother of the cowboy kid is pretty hot. I'd like to dip my chocolate bar in that everlasting gum drop. IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

  • I would have never thought Tim Burton would mess this scene up. How did that happen? The studio said what he was planning was too scary?

  • 1:01 - 2:03 FTW

  • ditto

  • this was scary

  • PENDULUM!

  • My friend does the funniest version of this song (if it can be classed as a song..)

  • the actors are so awesome in this.

  • i think this scene doesn't mean anything..

and the random scene.. I mean, cutting a chicken's head, WTF?!

  • RITALIN!RITALIN!

    FASTER!FASTER!

  • "...ANY SIGNS THAT THEY ARE SLOWING!

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO---"

    I swear, he's high.

  • Brilliant,,,love the original movie!

  • stop the fucking boat wonka ! !
