  • Lol they took all the precautions but when they took it out it was torn up water damaged moldy covered in moss rusted full of mud ect.

  • @junksmasher777 actually it would be worth more cuz its that specific car like it was the miss belvedere

  • hahaha well guess what its not worth what it was new, its worth less!!! hahahah

  • rever65 wonder if anyone remembers the guy who entombed his brand new 53 corvette in a brick garage. he only had 1 little window built and no door. it was to be opened in 2003. i remember the photo printed in cars and parts mag back in 78 when i was 9.

  • I wish that Plymouth had came out of the vault in the same condition she went in!!

  • @bwild61 i woulda stolen it then

  • To bad it's a rusted pos

  • hey all its 2009 o ya

  • so THATS where the water came from!

  • whats that stuff they are spraying all over it?

  • Comment removed

  • i meant grease

  • yeah look at it ,aint worth a pinch of shit, the yanks had no idea how to seal a cookie jar.........

  • well boy was that guy wrong about his predictions of it being in pristine condition

  • Or in your language:

Boyda whoa??? The Boyda I knowa (Coddington) knowsa NOTHINGa abouta buildinga carsa!

  • Boyd who??? The Boyd I know (Coddington) knows NOTHING about building cars!

  • I wish That Boyd and his crew coulda fired that mutha up

  • how was plastic tech in '57. Any plastic bags ???

Everybody know concrete cracks and water goes in...

The guys in '57 was somehow very selfish not to use two or three good big condoms.

  • GAS AND OIL Just in case there is none in the futer? HAHAHAHHA I heard that there expetcing gasoline engines to exist for another 50 yrears atleast!

  • Its been 4 months since I visited this clip and I remembered I forgot to add this:

HAHAHAHAHA hahahaha HAHAHahahah HAH HAH HA HA Ha Ho Ho ... OMG..HAHA HA Ha HA HA HA HA HO HO HO ....oh please! HaHaH lol lol lo WTF! hahahaha hahah hahahahah ahaha! AAAAaaaaahhhhahahahahahahahahaha!

  • 50 freaken years! people from all over the world flew in to see this. People paid big bucks just to have a seat in the stadium. World wide coverage! Mega pre-production light camera and action!. Now here it is ladies and gentlemen! A 50 year old pile of rusty ole 57 chevey that you can see at any ole dump.... Gotcha! and thanks for your money...Welcome to TULSA! Now get the F$%K outta here!

  • It's a Plymouth

  • aha! that's why!

  • hahaha....yeah i can't believe it to what had they expect then...hhahahaha let's do the same thing with the king and ask money for it....ladies and gentleman..elvis has left his grave.....no advance, i am a big elvis fan....cheers!

  • Man and I thought Alcapone Vaults was the biggest rip off, LMAO that Piece of shit was a waste of time

  • I have followed this 57' story for awhile and hats off to Tulsa for this great story even though the 57'

didn't age like we all wanted it to. Nice to see it restored ..hope someone does.

  • It is a shame to see this happen to this car. The planners clearly did not prepare the vault appropriately.

  • The thing that I wondered about is this: I saw a video or read that they had covered the car in grease before they put the cover on it. By watching some of these videos it looks like much of the chrome is still in good condition. If it really was covered in grease, Why don't they actually wash this thing and let us see how it really looks?

  • The car had no real chrome on it. There was a shortage at the time so Plymouth used stainless steel instead.

  • Bumpers, door handles and many interior trim parts are all chrome (not stainless) on this car.

  • The exterior has all three kinds of trim: stainless steel, regular chrome-plated pot metal, and anodized aluminum.

  • They'd have been better off if they had just parked it in the city impound lot for 50 years.

  • Hey Hey woah! no need to get testy. Just because your town didn't do something like that doesn't mean you have to get all mad about it. ((a tulsan)

  • Oklahomans did not build this car, all they had to do was store it for 50 years. They could not even do that. Oddly Oklahomans seem proud of their achievement of turning a pristine new car into rust. Welcome to Oklahoma, Americas Kazakhestan.

  • right on. At least make the damn vault waterproof like all other time vaults.

  • what is your problem who cares who built it and how is oklahoma "americas kazakhestan" you are the most ignurent person i know

  • The car is more popular than ever due to the fact that it aged horrible as it did. You speak like your from San Fransisco. We have another Plymouth to be unearthed in 2048. When your city does cool things like we Okies do, then speak.

  • Ladies and Gentlemen, the car that was buried 50 years ago has been officially BUSTED!!!!!!!!!!

Go to google, type buried car on the search box, and click on the CBS news article.

That car is now DEE DEE DEE!

  • How could Oklahoma engineers dig a hole in the ground and not suspect that it might someday fill with water? Especially since concrete is porous and there is no drainage. I guess that's why they joke about Okie's.

  • The damned water... but the idea was good. Maybe someone can restaurating the car? I saw a lot of old cars in far more bad condition that was set back in a almost new condition (but with a lot of hard work and a lot of spare parts). Why don't start another try for 2057? With a new car and a better concrete-container, covered outside with 1" of seemless plastic and a better drainage?

  • We did. Its a 98 Plymouth Prowler buried a mile east, to be unearthed in 2048.

  • Awsome! They should also bury the PT. Crusier, FJ Crusier, and that retro looking Chevy too.

  • They already buried a Plymouth Prowler in 1999, near Miss Belverde, to be dug out in 2049 ;)

  • 1998 actually, for a 2048 unveiling

  • so why don't they bury new one every year?

  • yeah me neither!!! im trying to find it everywhere

  • I'm trying to upload a video of the unveiling of the car: It looks awesome!

    v=ye4WOha1f2k

  • Awesome? The car is rusted. It's shot....

  • There doesn't seem to be rust on the unveiling video from Channel 4..take a look:

    youtube com/watch?v=ye4WOha1f2k

  • water and what? the car was filled with cosmolene... i think the car is ok

  • Miss Belvedere is still beautiful.

  • I can't believe they never considered drainage, as water leaks were bound to happen. If water gets in, how is it supposed to escape? It's a shame it rusted away to nothing, because I think it was a great idea.

  • the old guy in blue will not be too happy tonight : (

  • Thanks for sharing this!

  • They did a test run lifting it doday and one of the workers looked under the tarp. He said there was some rust on the back fins but the rest looked nice.

  • standing water looks like chocolate milk

  • doesn't look goodat all.

  • They opened the vault this morning to prepare it for removal this Friday, and there was a couple of feet of water sitting in the vault. Doesn't look promising...

  • I can't wait !......even if it's rusted a bit, she'll restore herself, start right up and start kicking aish right quick !......Christine lives !

  • omg, thats where they put christine, shes down they waiting for them to dig her up, then that bitch will start up and kill everybody

  • That's really exciting, can't wait to see it.

    Please do another video.

  • What was that stuff they were spraying into the coffin?

  • Liquified concrete to seal the vault lid.

  • Diamler Chrysler will be here to document this. So far the vault looks tight and still sealed.

  • lol wow thats awesome!!! i cant wait to see what condition iz in and stuff

  • kool i cant wait im so anxiuos to see what condition its in i myt buy it 4 1mil na

  • "She could tell right away...that I was Bad to the Bone....Ba Ba Ba Ba Bad" Here comes Christine 2!

  • I hope someone posts a video of it for us poor people who can't get there.

  • Great! I will be there, from Northern California. Look forward to seeing Nancy Hughes (golfingranny1 in this message thread). We will stay at the venerable The Ambassador Hotel.

  • I wonder if it's red. Dam thing will probably start up and run everyone over.

  • The car was gold in color to celebrate Tulsa's 50th Golden Jubilee

  • yes it will be unearthed June 15, 2007. I'm excited because it was my dad that stuck my picture in the glove compartment. Should be fun

  • 1957 plymoths arent worth that much are they? compared to other more flashy 50s cars?

  • They are worth more than most 50's cars, about $20-$40 thousand depending on options and model.

  • Me too, But I'm all the way in Canada...

  • I'll probably drive down to the event to check it out!

  • It'd be amazing to see how the car looks when it is dug up! However considering there are a fair number of pre 57 vehicles still around in museums or with enthusiasts, it'd likely be in one piece.

  • Buried June 15, 1957 to be dug up June 15, 2007. It was part of a contest for the city's golden jubilee. Whoever guessed the population of Tulsa in 2007 the closest, they or their next living relative, would win the car plus a few items to go along with it. Problem is that all Chrysler products from '57 had terrible rust problems. Meh, we'll see.

  • Does anyone know the date its being dug up this should be an exciting day for all us Plymouth fans.

  • how cool is that? thats next year

Christine could live again....from beyond the grave :|

  • Thats

    facking

    awsome

  • wow. tulsa does something interesting. jenks is boring.

  • 2007. Won't be long now...

  • Considering this video looks to have been done more recently than 15 years ago, I'd say probably not.. I'd love to see what it looks like when they bring it out, regardless of the condition.... if its in good condition its going to be worth a LOT of cash, if the city doesn't put it in a museum, or DaimlerChrysler doesn't buy it for a museum themselves.

  • Wasn't this time capsuual foud water damadged about fifteen or so years ago, when there was some construction below street level?
