This is progressive melodic death metal with metalcore elements. That's basically its official title from the metal archives.

They were given best metal album of the year from metalholic(dot)co/50-best-meta­l-albums-of-2010/

Some of their other songs, like The End, have very cool riffs.

Why is it people can't just enjoy whatever music they want? I happen to think Trivium's early stuff sucked, but I loved Shogun. That's MY opinion, disagree or agree if you will. I think these guys are unique and really good too. Everyone likes different things and you won't convince anyone otherwise so why not just shut up and grow up? No one gives a damn about your petty opinions.
