  • I'm not sure if you already know, but the bad acting was intentional :)

  • Lovelovelove Darkplace.

Do you watch League of Gentlemen/ Psychoville?

You will adore them if you like this.

  • I love Darkplace but don't like the mighty boosh. You should check out Man to Man with Dean Lerner, if you haven't already.

  • this is one of the best shows i have ever seen. every second is hilarious. well done for finding it man im suprised it has reached the states

  • There is added magic on the DVD. As it features the performers looking back on an old recomissioned show, the real actors can stay in character throughout the commentary. That alone is genius and painfully funny!

  • I am chuffed to little mintballs that the U.S. is getting to see this great show. It's partly a spoof of early to mid eighties U.K. sci fi/horror shows that had low budgets and took themselves far too seriously (the most memorable of these being a show called Saphire and Steel) they were truly embarassing. Partly it's a depiction of incompetant tallentless people operating under a cloud of self delusion. Great review many thanks.

  • Garth marenghi's Darkplace is pretty low-key even in the UK & Ireland but for geeks, it's a holy grail, very funny, i have the dvd boxset. The extra's are as good and as long as the actual shows. It features a lot of cameo's of the greatest writers in comedy in Britain and Ireland, people who've won Edinburgh Perrier awards, international emmy's and so forth. They made it for the sitcom geeks really, I don't think they wanted it to be mainstream, adultswim is awesome for promoting it over there.

  • Though as this chap says, there are only six episodes (I heard that it cost too much for a second series to be made but how can something so cheap-looking be pricey?) there is a companion series 'Man to Man with Dean Learner' in which the character in the show played by Richard Ayode had his own, bigotted chat show-it was pretty good too.

  • I love you for knowing about this. I'm only discovered it a few months ago, but I watched all six in one huge marathon after seeing the first. I don't think you'll get this service in the US, but there is this 4oD channel (4 on demand) on YT that stores all good programmes from them in their history, and Darkplace is there! Sorry if it doesn't work, but if it doesn't, go through with the all regions player and discover new hidden gems with it!

  • My sister saw this on dvd at her friends house and she told me about it. We watched it online and I love it.. it's hilarious. I bought it on dvd afterwards. Nice review, good to know that the good ol' Yanks appreciate a bit of the British humour. Best there is. :P

  • great show

  • Wow. I feel a bit bad now seen as I live in the UK and have never heard of this show. Sounds good though so I'll be sure to check it out.

  • i am absolutely astonished that an american has seen this. You should watch teh mighty boosh as you will enjoy it likely if you like this.

  • I'm Astonished that Someone besides Me has heard of this Show, I thought No One would watch this Video let alone Know of the Show or Comment, I do watch Mighty Boosh and it's Really Funny but it is no where near as Hilarious as this Show, I Love this Show so much and I am almost into anything from the UK on BBC or Channel 4, almost all British Television is Intelligent unlike some the Garbage my Shit Country Green-Lights

  • @A4F7IPictures You checked out Brass Eye? It's fucking amazing. You sould also wath Nathan Barley, it's not to everyones taste, but it's just about this ridiculous hipster guy. Also for political comedy you may also like The Thick of it.

  • @A4F7IPictures it's not that surprising that somebody else has seen it :L

It's more well-known than you seem to think!

  • @missfabulesso - Not hear in America most people have No Idea what this Show is but Most American's are Stupid, but where You live in the UK I'm sure it is well known it's a Channel 4 Production so I know it's Big there

  • seems to be a great show, i have to check it out
