nice flashback to my youth in my grandma's backyard when my uncle put out his sound system and blast oud the whole simple minds LP on a sunny day! NICE
Yeah this really is it isn't it? I don't think they never topped this, as though everything they did before was another ethereal stone in the path leading to this stunning creation. No band before or since has created a sound like this. Nearly 30 years on and it still sounds as fresh as the day it was released, utterly timeless. Compare that to their what their contemporaries were doing in the charts (spandau ballet, duran duran) and you can see how dated that stuff is. Amazing.
30yrs on still not a flaw as brillant as first listen, first times can never lie.my son showed this vid to me now his mind is simply gone he worships sons n fac ,emp and dance my soul is in new gold dream to me the first listen was emotive event i had the two befor n seen them 80/81 aus n many times since.that connection on this album takes your being to higher state its reflection of its brillance, for a life time im greatful.iit is the most beautifl gift
@schtat Hey brother, thanx man.Have u checked out Dexbam's This earth you walk up on,2011 remarstered,Im sure u already had, have.Another shelter from the storm!Peace be with you my friend
"Big Sleep" is my favorite track on New Gold Dream besides Glittering Prize. I just love this song because it's so dream like, innocent, and the lyrics are great. Simple Minds are so underrated. This video is perfect. I think the quality is great and goes along quite well with the song.
@TransmissionFilms Agreed this is one of their best ever compositions, and indeed one of the best songs ever written. However not sure you can say a band who were filling stadiums across the workd in the mid-late 1980s are "underrated". I do think they bitterly disappointed a legion of loyal followers when they sold out in 1984.
@CONSIDERABLYMORE1 I think their underrated because of Don't You Forget About Me. The Breakfast Club put them on the map but also very much hurt them. I just don't think SM got their due/get their due other 80s bands.
i, m getting old and you know wat i wouldnt have it any ather way shit i love the 80 ,s simple minds helped me when i was stationed in lebeanon whith uniifil bye from holland
Shear class. This is what is missing today music by musicians and not wanker like that cunt Cowell. It is history repeating itself with S. A.W basterdising the 80 and 90 with media friendly shite !
This music was very important for me when i was 17 years old, i sleeped with this. Great band great classic music. Thanks for sharing, really i back to 80's.
dam my dad died wen this song was fresh n my head n yey am still woundering why iam static ... theres only a few songs that mean more to me than ...this one x
@9colcol awww, my dear friend...while it's true time does help heal, the memories of those moments are always with us & sometimes made fresh again....*heartfelt hugs*
@spikelive They where def, not underrated in the 80,s their highlight period. They,ve been on every big concert and podia and a huge band, sold out staduims everywhere ;-) I,ve seen them 6 times myself in the 80,s ;-) but now it,s a bit quit around them, Jim Kerr has anes solo album for the first time, you can find it here on youtube
Hi, ciao , j saw 15 simple minds gigs in my life, the first one in milan april 1984,j was young ahahah! for me they're ,still now, one of the greatest band ever(with Muse,U2,Radiohead,Coldplay)! they made some mistakes(the "loss "of mick mcneil), but I think that the last two albums are very very good!
i completely appreciate the work/effort. i confess to being an old cranky simple minds purist! keep up the good work. the sydney live 1981remastered track i am listing to now if brilliant! i am over the moon.
Great work with the video! I have all their records, but this is still my favourite song, much because of the bassline, really. But hell the rest of the song is brilliant as well of course.
Excellent quality of this superb song ;-)!!! Thanks for uploading! And I agree with you, Dexbam, that album New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84) is the best album of the 20th century 8-)!
