Well, that's exactly where religion COMES from. Ignorant humans are afraid of the dark, they don't understand thunder, lightning, tides, eclipses, all sorts of natural phenomena. And just like Christians today with evolution, they say, "You can't explain it? Ha! That proves it's God!" And there you have a new religion, with a nice big Sky Daddy to keep the night time boogers away.
If you take a thousand-page book and fill it with vague and contradictory prophecies (especially if you prophecy wars and disasters!) and wait a couple of thousand years, you'll find lots of world events that can be fitted into the prophecies. Modern life and world events also match up with the Lord of the Rings, the Celestine Prophecy, the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, L. Ron Hubbard, and Nostradamus. All it requires is faith...
Hey Ox, God commands us to cast down all imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God,and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ 1 Corinthians 10:5(New Testament towards the back). You are proud Luke 1:51. Get a Strongs Concordance and look up the word imagine, imagination, imaginations, God never, ever commends living by these. Ask Him to show you the Truth and give you wisdom to behold wonders in His Word. I hope this helps.
stop insulting each other! it doesnt help anything, no one ever became a christian by being convinced by its logic or reasoning, only throught the Holy Spirit, and experience of Gods love will people come to Him.
breligion, no one can force you to believe in God, but i really hope you can open your heart to let Him in, and then only will you experience Him. I was a non believer myself, and the God used the SDA Church to save my soul. And i truely believe He will not use false prophets to win peoples hearts. I pray that you find Him too someday, because you are worth it. xxx
Doug Batchelor is a 7th day adventist who adheres to the prophecies of Ellen Gould White. She made several false prophecies, which shows this guy doesn't know anything. Also, the bible itself has false prophecies, so even if he wasn't 7th day adventist, he is still adhering to false prophecies.
What do u know about bible prophecy? Nothing! The events in the Middle East, Europe & elsewhere r building up towards exactly what the bible prophecied centuries ago-nuclear holocaust. This is no outdated book. U r witness to prophecy being fulfilled. After provocation by Iran the Middle East will be conquered by the European Union (the Beast led by Germany, Rev 13 & 17) guided by the Catholic Church (the Woman riding the Beast Rev 17). Israel & the USA will fall afterwards.
"Prophecy" in the bible is : too vague to be supernatural, not a prophecy at all, or was already claimed fulfilled by the bible. I think it is hilarious people like you try to "predict" what will happen and you guys always fail miserably.
hey, breligion, suck some balls, you know jack...the Bible is true. If you at least believe in God, dont you think God would have done something at least to make sure we didnt follow it? He says only those who have faith will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Faith = seeing before believe. Reading and believing the Bible is faith...thanks
I would say I know much more about the bible than you do. Firstly, if you can read the entire bible and still believe it is 100% true, that says something about the degree to which you are brainwashed. I don't believe in any god and if there was a god, it certainly is not the biblegod (for example, the god of deism). It is foolish to believe something before seeing evidence for it. People like that believe everything they are told no matter how ridiculous.
U stupid fool! Prophecy may be 'vague' to your pitiful reasoning, but it's very clear to me. U r willingly ignorant by self-confession. U don't comprehend present world conditions expressed via the media & fail to connect it to prophecy. Therefore, u r dumb! Oh, I forgot. Britain will fall also with Israel & the USA.
Given your inability to use kind words and rational thinking, you are clear indication why believing this nonsense is so dangerous to humanity. Apparently, your god is okay with you treating fellow human beings cruelly with your sadistic words of intolerance. If you are the future of christianity, then it will not last much longer.
I find it very sad that others have used such awful words in trying to convince you. It's a clear contradiction, to proclaim you have the truth, and then use bad language and obviously hateful statements to put it forward. No one was ever converted that way.
That all being said, I do disagree with you on the prophecies being "vague." Perhaps some are, but I don't think you've been reading all of them. Prophecies are given just so that people don't have blind faith, because they have evidence.
(Sorry for the double reply, but the character limit is too short for me!)
"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD" [Isa. 1:18] A fair invitation, wouldn't you agree? Paul challenges us to prove Bible prophecy, and "hold fast that which is good." [1 Thess. 5:21]
The Bible claims that its truth is proven by prophecy. The only thing a skeptic need do to disprove the Bible is to disprove a prophecy.
For instance, rebuild Babylon or old Tyre, both predicted to be destroyed and never again rebuilt. And not just that is said. There are details! Tyre was to not only be destroyed, but the remains scraped away so that only a rocky surface remained. And it happened, though not all in the same battle.
There are many more examples, but I'm out of space again. ^^; You should consider further investigation, to be certain you have the truth.
PS: Just realized it's been a year... sorry about that. o_O

oxo: Imagination can give hope and itis this (false) hope that believers are clinging to.

I also agree with Kikee. No one has ever gone to God through logic or reasoning. Only through the power of imagination ;)
