SEEN BONO BECOME MCPHISTO IN ABOUT 93-94 AT PARKHEAD GLASGOW, CONCERT WAS AMAZING AND I WAS SITTING IN THE BEST SEATS IN THE STADIUM THROUGH A DEAR FREIND BONO WAS OFFERED FIVE MILLION TO DO PART IN A BATMAN MOVIE AS MCPHISTO HE SAID I STICK TO WHAT I DO BEST SING TRUR OR FALSE ONLY BONO AND HIS AGENCY TEAM COULD VERIFY
I worship Bono! Bono is so Godlike to me. I really want to make his day. Worship his body with my hands and tongue and hair. Etc. I keep my life from getting too dull with thoughts exactly like this. Thank God for Bono.
Macphisto is still for me simply the greatest music persona ever created. That still proud and charismatic charm is as vibrant as the first time I saw him and I still smile whenever he shows. I'm always made up that he will be forever immortalised in one of the finest tours in earths history and I never tire of seeing him. Simple yet impossible to mimic. Comedic yet tragic. Mischievous yet truthful. Bono did what very little people could and bought to life a legend in his own time.
I absolutely love what U2 is now, but if I had to choose a climax of creativity for the band, the ZOOTV era is what I'd go with. A time of phenomenal music complimented by loads of irony and showmanship. It was a way of expressing what glamorization and insencerity in the media could do to anyone enrolled in "stardom". MacPhisto represents the stigma that can be a attached to anyone aspiring to be someone, and they can be submerged into the underbelly of pop culture. Truly relevant, and genius.
@DarthBono1 as much as I would love to see that, what makes this whole tour amazing is that it was what it was and it should not be repeated. That's what makes it even more special
My favoritism generally tends to rely primarily upon accessibility - something I can access anytime of day, although "The Joshua Tree" and "Achtung Baby" are U2's best albums - "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb", "War" and particularly "Zooropa" are my personal favorite.
I love Adam's reaction at 3:56. He knew it was coming and he's still surprised. That pretty much sums up U2's career to me. Always surprising and unpredictable. God, I love these guys.

Truth is, Adam was out partying and got really fucking drunk. Bono was legit afraid this show would be U2's last; he, The Edge and Larry seriously considered kicking Adam out if he didn't change his behavior.
@beau99 There's never been any suggestion Adam was going to be 'kicked out' of the band. Read Bill Flanagan's 'U2 at the End of the World', where the truth of the matter - as much as we'll EVER know - is retold largely firsthand.
SUPERB PERFORMANCE! It was a really cool idea - to have Bono playing a fictional character. It gives the concert a special theatrical mood. I absolutely love Zoo TV Tour, it is U2's best one and maybe even the best of all tours by any artist! Thank you for sharing!
This is 100% proof that .. I guess the word "pop culture" was so much better in the 90s. From the stage structure, to the whole set up, the build up, everything just seems so phenomenally cinematic. You can quote me on this... "we have come so far in this world and yet have achived so little and lost much more "
Still after 16 years the best concert of all time, U2 was at their peak here, a peak that no other band ever have reached. This is concert is the finest thing i music history. Or at least, that's my opinion.
Great vid btw I did not have room to say hehe Thank u for posting it I loved watching the U2 syndey tour and its hard to find XD so thank u for putting this up cause its one of my fav songs and parts of that concert ^_^ I am faving it as well ^_~
Let me start off by saying, I love U2 and have, basically since I was born and thats not an xageration, seriously Anyway... This era was one of my favs as I was born into and its got a darker more cynical and surreal-realism side to it which I love and relate to, but I think everything U2 does is like a color - Red, Blue, Green, Purple ect. and they all have a purpose and place in the vast and far reaching rainbow of their music and purpose ... at least to me this is what they are ^_~
Heh, yeah :D... although, notice the fact that even such explosion (and the fact it scared him) did not break his concentration. Kinda cool guy, this Adam.

What were U2 thinking when doing this tour? It was so stupid and so far removed from what I loved about them. Bono looks like and acts like an idiot. I understand it is supposed to be a "statement" about "pop stars" but it's still lame. Thank God they went back (somewhat) to the U2 that made them famous to begin with. I'm still waiting for "The Joshua Tree II " album though.
Are you kidding; You can't enjoy the 'meat' of life, the things that count. The Real, in other words, stuff like The Joshua Tree with out having the kitschy stuff, ( the Zoo tv tour), to compare it to. Both are great. Why not have a little fun with kitsch sometimes?
You should look towards change in your life and accept it, along with the inevitable future. Being stuck on familiar paths and not opening up yourself to change is just a boring way to live. God bless U2 for being bold enough to risk everything in order to follow their changing perspectives on life as well as the changing world. THIS IS THE BEST ERA OF U2. BAR NONE>

Small mistake in the description: "Bone became McPhisto".... It's Bono but i understand it's most likely a typo.

This is absolutely brilliant, like everything they did in the 90's AND the 80's.
But their "return" to the roots is a flop. People like it, but it's simply not in the same class.
Edge should have listened to Bono when he played "Beautiful day" riff for the first time.
