  • He's a

  • "I certainly hope so, it should be alot of fun" .......no emotion LOL

  • He is so sexy...

  • @knightschwartz You should hear 1982's The Blue Mask. Easily one of his best. The others mentioned are great as well.

  • "pretty soon i'll have jet lag without even leaving."

    haha.

  • I'm a teenager and the velvet underground is one of my favorite bands, but I don't really mind him saying what he said, he's Lou Reed so he can say whatever he wants cause he's awesome.

  • Garbage like 'New Sensation's' and 'New York'? 'Songs for Drella'? Yeah well if you don't appreciate good music you might not like any of those.

  • Reed's 80's and 90's album's are garbage.

  • @knightschwartz Really? All of them? Not a single non-garbage album out there? I doubt that, sorry.

  • @knightschwartz agreed, actually. Except for maybe Growing Up in Public. Very underrated actually.

  • @knightschwartz Growing Up In Public, Blue Mak, New Sensations and New York are awesome.

  • The Danish are really spicing shit up, 1:54

  • His music maybe for adults only. But I was only 12 Years old when I became a LOU REED FAN after listning to my brothers tape of NEW SENSATIONS.

  • How do I get my voice to sound like his? Better yet, how can I transform into Lou Reed?

  • @whoareyou342 you cant be, lou reed is too cool for you to be him lo9l i mean that in the most un-dickish way possible

  • wow he looks healthy in this interview

  • I love the bitch-slapping contest between inabeautifulplace and reddragonx below. Lou would appreciate it. Very funny. "Why don't you go get a room?"

  • He isn't stoned...idk who said that. but he isn't even buzzed...

  • He might be stoned in this interview....yay for him

  • says..lol...maybe im wrong...

  • Comment removed

  • he wasn't much without Cale, but he was still pretty okay

  • La deco es buenísima. Y los subtítulos muy bien hechos. Gente de mente!...

  • When he saus about "adult music" he doesnt mean because he doesnt want teenagersa listening to his music...its because mainly adults can understand and relate somewhat of a way to his music...the man has a song called heroin..i wouldnt promote it to teenagers if i had a song called heroin either

  • @valboski No matter what you tell them, the teenagers will ALWAYS want everything to be about them. Even the ones who believe they're sophisticated enough to only take interest in music older than their parents, are stereotypical self-centered crybabies at heart.

  • @xreddragonx

    whoops, *you seem

  • how the fuk do u interview Lou Reed? i'd be shitting myself.

  • @raulbarrientos007 maybe he was shitting himself

  • @raulbarrientos007 Agreed, Lou Reed has is own sub Genre of Rock and roll, as the GOD OF ROCK AND ROLL, he has filled his genre well.

  • I love it at 5:03 when he calls out the guy for not laughing at his joke. Way to go Lou

  • I thought it was pretty funny, too

  • lou reed is such a mind fuck, gotta love him

  • never has the eagle flew so low as when he asked the crow for advice. thats a lou reed interview. lous the eagle

  • I dont get how he can look this good at 42. He took a lot of heroine and shit.

  • Some children are more adult than some adults. I don't think he means that kids can't listen. I think it's more that he makes music for a mature audience.

  • @killianjes "Some children are more adult than some adults."

No. Unless you just mean the mentally challenged.

  • @xreddragonx

well I'd say a good example would be you.

  • lol you kids take his words waay to personally.

  • yeah, lou can say whatever the hell he wants. HE'S LOU REED!!!

  • Lou Reed always, always mentions that he made his music for adults, that he writes for adults, only adults should listen to his music, the intended listeners are adults, etc., etc.

    i'm kind of offended here.

  • i take it you're not yet 21?? don't take it personally, he's referring to mindless pop music aimed at teenagers, he's distancing himself from that (not surprising as this interview was done in 1984 when pop music was horrible)

  • yeah. or he hates us. i just don't see why he would say that if a select group of teenagers were listening to him instead.

  • wow, you're probably right. he hates all teenagers and likes to hand select his audience. what a prick.

  • i never said he hand-picks his fans, it's just that with the way he always puts emphasis on the fact that adults are the only ones he wants listening to him, i do get the vibe that he really doesn't like us. it's not my fault i get that vibe, it's him that's sending it!

  • It's not so much adults in his audience but a degree of maturity. He doesn't fuck about, he does things the way he does things and he wants to be heard and appreciated as an artist by a mature audience. And fortunately he has avoided the whole "reach out to the kids", I would rather he aimed it at an adult audience than horny pubescent one. Well I am a horny pubescent but it's something I want out of the way quickly. Adolescence ain't great by my expanding experience.

  • yeah, I don't like other kids much either

but I wouldn't say he doesn't fuck about.

  • Lol at teenagers getting offended like little bitches over his "my music is for adults" comment. Stupid self-centered gits. Heaven forbid EVERYTHING in the world isn't targeted to the pimple faces (including music that's older than your fucking parents). If you're offended, then you're revealing what absolute TEENAGERS you truly are and why you deserve shit.

  • @xreddragonx

I don't want his music to be about us.. I don't want his music to change at all. because being teenagers, we can still understand what the fuck he's singing 'bout. the fact that he said it's only for adults offended me because he's underestimating us and when someone does that, yeah, I will get mad. i don't need him to target it at us, i just don't need any comment about it at all. why can't he let his music attract whichever kind of listener it would all by itself?

  • @inabeautifulplace there's more to being an 'adult' than age. i know a lot of teenagers how are more mature than most adults i've come across. i'm sure when he says 'adult' he's generalizing mature folk

  • @yamon98 Great comments. "Adult" got nothing to do with age.

  • @xreddragonx

and why the fuck does it matter how old it is? you're seem like one of those pompous pricks who refuses to associate themselves with anything a teenager might like because you assume we're all chick lit loving drones. get the fuck out you generalizing fuck.

i don't need him to like me, but that doesn't mean i won't say it when he says something i disapprove of. and my age compared to the date of this interview has fuck all to do with anything you're trying to prove.

  • @inabeautifulplace And if he doesn't "like you", so fucking what? You'll never meet him anyway you low self-esteem moron. You weren't even ALIVE at the time of this interview for fuck's sake.

  • Yeah it was horrible then. Not so bad in the 90s and now it is worse than ever.

  • the music is its own thing, it dosnt matter what he has to say about it, he probably thinks so himself. if you like his music you like his music..

  • Excellent interview.

  • top song...check my vids out for "Lou Reed - perfect day (animated)"...

  • Yeah Sylvia was quite the trooper to be able to hang with Lou for 10+ years! (Let's see how Laurie Anderson stacks up.) Gosh he looked great in this interview

  • Well, Laurie has been with Lou for more than ten years already, they seem very comfortable with each other. I saw them walking in together into the St Marks Church Theatre to go see an Avant Garde play by Freeman and was stunned to see him. They sat next to Yoko and Sean which blew me away.

  • Good stuff but I have to agree his face looks retouched, they made him look as young as he was in the Velvets days. Either he was on a great diet/exercise kick or more likely lots of makeup... and/or camera filters like what Playboy uses.

  • Camera filter on a camera from Denmark in 1984? Highly unlikely.

    It's makeup if anything.

  • He looks about his age at the tie, 41 or 42 but with lots of makeup. Still, he was getting in better shape, having quit drugs by then and taking up with his wife Sylvia.

  • this interview is fucking hilarious

  • Lou reed is my hero.

  • he seems to be in the mood to have a silent inside joke on the journalist.

"i'm the best lou reed guitar guitarist.." etc.

  • Lou never looked better

  • how do you know this?

  • He told me.

  • For god sakes he's interviewing Lou Reed, one of the greatest lyracists of all time and asks "how about singing other peoples things", talks about jet lag and crap. What was this the Danish shopping channel???riveting

  • Are you retarted or just stupid?

  • 1974? Not too many people had VCRs in 1974! ;-)

  • He looks very young.

    Sure this is from 1984?

    Not 1974?

  • He said the band he has now is the best bad he's had??

    Poor Velvet Underground :(

  • best bad Ive had. I like that

  • thts what i thought

  • wow lou's a real barrel of monkeys

  • Is he a still Homosexual?

  • No i think he moves around a lot.

  • hahahaha.. "a still homosexual"

  • I am a particularly good lou reed guitar playing guitarist

  • Yeah too bad he sounds so full of himself, his music is great though. He talks with so little emotion... Or facial expression.

  • jese he is anoying to listen to, man he seems selfish

  • To clear things of for some idiots, he's not referring to himself in 3rd person. He's referring to the music he makes as it's own genre: "Lou Reed"

  • @greenpuppet43 you're a douche

  • @greenpuppet43

Thanks man, good that someone spoke up about this, we've been listening bullshit about that since ever!

  • what's the name of the song in the beginning of this?

  • It's "Don't Talk To Me About Work" from the "Legendary Hearts" album (1983)

  • hes a bit of a douche

    but i still love him!

  • why for adults?

  • because most rock and pop is made for teenagers.

  • Writes rock for adults. I like that.

  • hahaha "soon i'll have jet lag without leaving" - no laugh - "i thought that was pretty funny"

  • 'i hate touring'....well get a job at Taco Bell then. P.S. His face looks airbrushed to the max

  • Haha! Yep.

  • Such an angry person, that is in contrast to some of his beautiful lyrics.

  • an interesting guy but he's a narcissistic asshole

  • agree, agree....

  • I think lou reed is the best writer and musician to ever grace this planet! Doubt we'll see another genius come along like

Lou-in a long time, if ever. Until then-thank you lou.....for all those beautiful songs you have written-especially the ones about the 'poppy'!!!

  • youre not welcome hater

  • he's the world's most loveable wanker.

  • Funnily I was at Roskilde that year, but I can't remember having seen him play... and I was a big fan at the time. Did he go AWOL or what?

  • why the fuck does he refer to himself in the third person like some sort of insane crazy motherfucker?

  • How badass is lou reed?

  • H Groenteman did a better job

  • you have a chance to talk to lou reed about anyting and you ask him about JETLAG??

He's 42?! boy, he looks great!

  • he's wearing a shitload of makeup and he's got dyed hair...without it i think his age might be a little more noticable.

  • I don't find the interviewer so bad. I mean there is a lot of latent agressiveness from Lou right from the start. very hostile body language. Wasn't that when Lou was having one of his 10-yearly iffy periods, upsetting and insulting all of his friends? If I recall correctly Quine stopped working with Lou shortly after this time. Pity, Quine was one of the best.

  • he's 42 on this interview but looks 25-26...try doing that:P

respect lou.this was the year of new sensations

  • i'd say he looks about 40

  • lou peeks at the camera a lot. it's funny, i like him.

  • that interviewer is a fuckin goofball... and that band was the best lou ever had before or since

  • the studio is hideous.

  • He's so cool... Luckily I saw him when he returned to Roskilde in 2001... I'd wish he'd come back again. Awesome concert

  • Love the bit when Lou talks bout the emulator and the barking dogs. By the way, the Danish interviewer is an idiot.

  • Well Lou is very difficult to interview

  • i like his personality

  • Funny thing, cause he's actually known for his temper, but who the hell cares right, every great artist is an asshole :p

  • He wants to be an asshole, that's different.

  • haha i love when he complements himself on his own joke
