Brian May did the same thing and track when Def Leppard played at the same venue (Hammersmith Apollo) on Halloween night I think it was 2003 or 2004 and the place went NUTS!
Wherever Brian May is , the music will be fantastic. He is a legend and best guitarist we ever had. We are blessed to have such a talented musician. I hope to see you live in a concert.
second gig that night that Brian showed up at, and 2nd time he played Tie Your mother Down. he played at an SAS show to commemorate freddie's 20th anniversary since passing
I love The Darkness and Queen, but this was no good. Maybe justin didn't have a lot of prep time? Our his voice was mostly gone? I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, I really do.
@saraelizah Justin's voice was the same here as it was on all of the dates on the recent tour. I went to the Hammersmith that night, and while it did sound much better in person, I don't think Justin is suited to performing this song. That's a testament to Freddie in that he always set high standards in the vocal performances he did, Justin's a great singer with a good voice, but he's no Freddie Mercury.
This Vid has now been posted for All to see on FaceBook by the Official Queen Page... Quite The Honor!!! I wanna be Brian May, He gets to play with everybody nowadays.... ; ) A True ROCK GOD!!!
This proves my point when people say justin should of joined Queen, he cant sing Queen songs, Freddies songs are sooo! hard to sing, hes better creating more great music with THE DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARKNESS!!!
He was sharing a stage with the legendary Brian May. I thought he held his own, but May raised everything about 10 notches from what he is used to. You see when he whipped the slide out of his pocket for the solo? Greatness!! The singer and the rest of the band look like they were living a dream come true!
@miguelbaptista Justin's got a geat voice and some amazing skills, but this song isn't exactly in his scale. He feels way more comfortable in songs where he can use his natural, highier voice. Besides, who wouldn't get a bit stressed with Brian May on stage next to him?;) And even with Freddie on vocals, Tie Your Mother Down was always played for fun. If you've seen a lot of Queen concerts you'd know, that Freddie never cared much about staying in tune NOR remembering the lyrics during this song
@miguelbaptista Maybe it was an off-night. Not even Freddie Mercury could keep his voice that high all the time, as flawless as his singing could get.
@miguelbaptista I think it's just cos its a cover and he had to sing in a "normal" pitch, lower than he usually does. When he does the high notes he always nails it!
@MrMissmuppets The version of this song with the Foo Fighters is a great example of how much worse things can go. Here the singer has a harder time doing the lower parts where as there Taylor Hall can't hit any of the high notes, at all. I would rather have someone hit all the high notes and flub a bit of the less exciting parts personally. And as someone stated you have to take nerves into consideration when your singing on a stage with a living legend.
I ws there too... mental night couldn't believe it when he came on... although more beers should have been thrown at foxy shitter... sorry shazam... god they were truly beyond shit...
