Why would eliminating the romantic aspect of Cloud's psyche at all dissolve his morally ambiguous allegiance to Shinra and SOLDIER: is that supposed to be a typo? I mean, sure, you can down play the juxtaposition between the pie-eyed kid Cloud and the hard-bitten existentially addled adult version; but the gristly nature of his stint with Shinra wouldn't be muted or morally substantiated in either case.

the technique of exposing Cloud to the sentimental exploits of his former self plays because, espite the only so-so character development via dialogue and action thus far, the "promise" ultimately is supposed to reveal not only the substance of the present paper doll Cloud, but also acts to give his character a definite indication of emotional growth.I mean it's an old ploy but it still has functionality.To a point.

I have always really admired the way you stick to the plot, don't resort to empty swearing and smut (only funny swearing and smut), and still manage to make it LOL while bringing out all the absurdities.
