  • how do i make one of these? I really would like to make a big one. Anyone know how to find the info to build one of these?

  • I HEARD IT >_<

  • what is this soccer ball icon and its industrial sound for?

  • cool video eh?

  • umm, how is that a mystery? its plain obvious.

  • Lawl.

Also at his "inherent Canadianity, mentioned above by PersonalRobotJesus. He really did say "Eh"!

  • I love his inherent Canadianity. "Eh?"

  • AWESOME

  • Sweet!

  • black canadian? :O

  • wtf? where are you from?

  • i'm an experimental techno composer and can i plz plz plz plz plz sample the sound at 1:20 ?

  • 1:20 record that sound and make a sci fi gun in a video game from that the best sound ever.

  • you could do this with a bottle and a lighter,

  • Dere's a little hole on that end that's making dat sound.

  • This was so cool! I wish I had the supplies to do this!

  • nice- he said eh! at the end. I love Canada!

  • Very nice indeed! :-)

  • : ))

  • That dude is a total Screech.

  • I dont get why it's so important for some kids to insult ppl doing their stuff. This guy is not a "nerd". A 40 year old hardcore trekkie still living with his mother, now THATS a nerd.

  • Your mom is a nerd.

  • that's not really an insult...lol!

  • its the voice of god

  • lol!

  • best comment

  • It is, lol :P

  • HADOUKEN!!

  • Cool! I Wish i could find some more information about this experiment, and about how the sounds was created

  • see davidsugarman's comment above...

  • cool

  • : )

  • stumbled on this, hi.

  • Well.. big deal? :)

I used to do this with a glass bottle and a lighter all the time years ago. Less loud of course, but essentially the same. But the fact that he uses this massive tube is pretty cool.

  • he's canadian eh? lol

  • Probably a similar effect to Rijke Tube oscillator. Also see "Jam Jar Pulsejet" youtubecom/watch?v=AePLpM5SnqE

  • "Isn't that sveet?"

Very nice presentation. I enjoyed it.

  • : ))

  • This demonstration was at the ontario science center. Really cool

  • You should make an organ.

  • yup...it's been suggested...there is haggling about heat buildup in the tubes...etc...

  • Isn't DAT SWEET! ;D

  • I wonder if the visual effect and/or the sound effect were ever used in something like a movie.

  • I don't know...

  • it should be, it's an interesting sound. I don't exactly know how it would be used though.

  • I've always wanted to try out experiments in my house, but the smoke detector kept ringing! BTW this one was very interesting and cool and awesome!!!

  • there are things that one should not try at home lol!

  • Flame propogation and turbulence caused by expansion of gas from ambient to burn temperature causes the "woosh" that we hear. The expanding gas causes vibration of the tube due to the turbulence and drag against the sidewall of the tube. EDJUKASHUN IS GRAIT! I'M AN ENGANEER.

  • cool! thanks!

  • Of course its also one of those OOOHHH DUHH its so simple moments after you explain it, lol, and some people may say, yeah sure whatever you say thmtrxmn, but actually, I have a decent working knowledge of things like this. Just no formal education in it, lol, so this would be a experiment in what? Fluid Dynamics? Kinetic Theory and um Chemistry? lol, I think? right?

  • Well, I was close, kinda lol, I was thinking along the lines of a plasma speaker the way those work, so, yeah wrong device wrong concept right field of study lol

  • thanks David!

  • So these devices works by forcing any other gases or excess gas out the hole near the bunsun burner yeah? and the excess gases and other gases are trapped behind the flame and thus forced out the hole? Something to that effect right?

  • I used to do the same thing with my potatoe cannon. Simply remove the back of the combustion chamber, hit the egnitor and Bweeeoooohp as blue flames shot out the end. :D

    Good work mate.

  • DUDE, where were you when they were making Star Wars? xD

That was an amazing effect, beautiful, too.

  • cool sound but the showeffect is much better!

    good job!

  • If you were to build a series of tubes and controlled the lengths between the propane gas and lit torches you could have several reactions taking place to create a series or parallel reaction of sounds. If you were to build it in an L or square shaped you would get a pretty cool visual effect too. Another cool effect would be with a prism or tetrahedron type structure.

  • wow. thanks. we are talking about developing this device somehow, based on feedback. thanks for posting!

  • so. its a tube, with a bunsun burner on one end? or is it just a high concentration of prropane? and the other has a torch. id like to see it float in the middle struggling back and forth. if the concentration is the same. is this possible?

  • I'm not sure if the reaction can be controlled to that extent. I think there would also be issues of heat buildup in the device.

  • you tube man

  • he won

  • yeah shit i'm gonna make one

  • cool! Lets do that in a tunnel! :)

  • very cool sound!

  • pyromaniacs are so kewl

  • Very Nice. Someone should create a pan flute from this concept.
