1st : in France,

2nd : they work but some earn less money than what they have to pay, so they protest against supermarket prices that go higher but they get paid lower and lower.

3rd : when you don't know what it is about, how can you make such a silly judgment? I'd say they probably work more than you…and they'd love their work.
