  • amazing, amazing, amazing! i would like to go to a concert like this!! <3

  • When it starts, you see the cello lead, Frank Miller playing on a cello made in 1941!!!

No antique instrument for him; he really did like that cello and Toscanini also liked it.

  • 42 people wouldn't know good music even if they took an arrow to the knee

  • Music of a Genius...

    youtube.com/watch?v=EmV35VPRT9s

  • whenever i hear this... i immediately think of butterflies. /watch?v=sqd_dfR9WSM

  • i love the way he composes. also love this song!!!!!

  • 40 people are completely deaf.

  • Count Dooku's spare time hobby.

  • I love this version for the clarinet at 3.20, so beautiful..

  • He is just the cutest old man I have ever seen! :3

  • @prettynpink1286 En profile ,and from a distance he looks a bit like the Dutch artist Herman van Veen .

  • He is 85 year old in this video! Wow ...

  • its so cool he made this when he was deaf

  • @espie808 no he made the 9th symphony when he was completely deaf.. he was still able to hear for the 5th

  • Why would anybody dislike this, wow.

  • the way Beethoven heard & invisioned it. :)

  • Comment removed

  • one word: maestra !!!!

  • The director looks EXACTLY like Count Dooku

  • Three words: Mag nifi cent

  • i really like the start....and all the bits hat sound like it..... :P

  • the way he waves his hand to signal silence is effortless...what a conductor

  • I watched the TSO (Toronto Symphony Orchestra) perform this symphony today with some music classes from my school at the Roy Thomson Hall. :P

  • @Lawrencelovespiano oh my school was there october 24 (on monday)

  • ugh this shit sucks i have a midterm and this will be on it.........-_-

  • Im learning to play this music!!!! And im 10!!!!!!

  • Arturo is Italian - it doesn't get better than that !!

  • Fantastic ! American conductors don't know how to conduct this - with no passion - the orch isn't perfect n

  • @annajeehee -George Szell and Leonard Bernstein sure could conduct this brilliantly.

  • that's what we call---- MUSIC!!!

    that's what we agree-----BEETHOVEN!!!

  • Bravo Bravo..!!

  • It's wonderful, I was trying to conduct with the song!!! LOVE IT!!!!

  • what the first song is that ?? in the first time he play

  • @MrAmbjorn Remember children threat your music like your candy, throw away the rappers.

No offence, just trollin for fun.

  • The conductor looks a little like the Celtic legend Danny Magrain. LOL Great listening to Ludwig's master piece again :)) Thank you

  • @MrAmbjorn Can't tell if troll or just impaired...

  • 40 people are deafer than Beethoven ever was.

  • @conantat1 True , true ....

  • @conantat1 Thats hilarious and true. Why can't people just accept greatness when they hear it? Toscanini's performances were soooo tight and rhythmically precise, even if somehow you don't like the particular rendition, you have to appreciate it.

  • @Capaden11 they miss the autotune. Tasteless.

As you say, no matter what you think of the rendition it's stil Beethoven.

  • @Capaden11 Toscanini's Beethoven Cycle is as good as anyone's.

Yes, you can find individual performances that might be better, but as a "whole" his are as good as anyone's.

  • Damn, that's some fine-ass conducting.

  • is that Beethoven ?

  • @mobbydogg1 No, he dies in 1827...Jesus... o.O

  • @mobbydogg1 Yeah, such a long time ago and people still cover and listen to his stuff! Amazing!

  • @mobbydogg1 -hahaha

  • @mobbydogg1

    OMG

  • 39 people wouldnt know true music if it bit them on the ass

  • best song of the world

  • I never knew Albert Einstein was a conductor .

  • Comment removed

  • @starsarenotjealous I never knew Einstein gave up his lightning-struck hairstyle

  • THIS SHIT IS DOPE

  • tenho apenas 14 anos mais adoro essa musica

  • LETS ALL FACE IT, BEETHTOVEN INVENTED THE HEADBANG.

  • does anyone remember this was once played in mr. bean??

  • The conductor's face muscles are paralyzed... LOLZ~~~~

  • its like everything else except Beethoven's stuff is just distractions

  • lovely.TY for posting.

  • He looks so unhappy but I love his music.

  • GR8 Arturo Toscanini,

the only one that has said NO to

Adolf Hitler and Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini.

  • THE FUCK, HOW DID COUNT DOOKU GET HIS HANDS BACK!!!

  • I was there when this was recorded, I never thought I'd see it again...

  • @DrDavidHowler Quite cool, do you remember anything in particular of the night? What impression did the Maestro give you?

  • @DrDavidHowler wow! good for you..I think he's my favorite conductor..I luv how he controls the musicians.

before Utube & equalizers I would hear an orchestra (recording:-) andcould tell Toscanini was conducting. I am going to a concert featuring Mozart's Eine Kleine Nacht Musik and wanted to hear Toscanini conducting the piece. ..I found this gem instead

  • @DrDavidHowler really! thats awesome i love his work

  • @DrDavidHowler

You are one lucky dude for having been at the concert!

Bless TheGreatPerformer for posting this brilliant performance!

The hall acoustic is crisp, without echo that dominate most modern recordings.

The orchestra is the tightest I've ever heard in "integrity" and "cohesiveness".

I've never heard so many musicians stop on the dime without a screech!

Arturo is spartan in motions, in contrast modern conductors with excess motions. He let the orchestra and music speak for it self!

  • @rchentres I never actually saw this, performance and I'm a nunpunching donkeyfart. Sorry.

  • @DrDavidHowler Power of the internet and technology at work.

  • @Verile Power of the donkey punch fartbutt yeahoo

  • @DrDavidHowler You sir, have won the internetz. Be proud of yourself.

  • @WilbertVereAwdry You have won the "I'm a dipshit" award donkey punch a nun fartbutt

  • i keep thinking that the electric guitar riff from 'Roll Over Beethoven' is about to kick in at around 0:42 XD

  • superbe...

  • I should remember this telecast after all I was born one month after it took place!

  • toscanini is imho one of the best italians ever

  • Pwnage.

  • Electrifying. Toscanini is just a superb conductor. He controls the orchestra with the minimum of effort and the maximum result. None of the histrionics all too common nowadays.

  • I can't be the only one who finds the video at 40 seconds extremely entertaining.

  • @AmecamecaLive Pendejo, inculto

  • @themaster1154 perdóneme doctor en letras de una universidad publica... de seguro da cátedra de tolerancia en la universidad y su madurez es tan grande. que puta madre no pinche monsibais le queda corto poff!!!

  • My laptops speakers don't do it any justice

  • My fav of all sym...Maestro Toscanini w/ profound, prodigious talent & beauty conducts the tempo with his right hand & the nuances & subtleties with his left hand...what a privilege & honour to view him...like the strings his musicians play, specially the violins, violas, bass's & cellos; the musicians playing the woodwinds are likewise awesome...Thank you very kindly Ludwig van Beethoven for this, wondrous beyond expression, Creation!!

  • goes to show you dont have to be pretentious to interpret and conduct a beethoven symphony, and toscanini brought out some nice things i never hear!

  • I think Beethoven is not from the earth !!!

  • @TheRite100 Beethoven is son of Optimus Prime =D

  • I think we, Human [ intentional use of capital letter], can create things also. Power of creation belongs to every being with intellect. for example, Bethoven's creation of this fantastic music.

  • @Sixalienasa

You are obviously to obsessed with religion, a fanatic, I would say. I do believe in human not because my religion is not the same as yours, but because I just do so. I believe I am someone even without any divine beings' help. If you think your GOD is everything to you, it's fine. BUT DON'T YOU DARE SAY ANYTHING LIKE WE ARE NOTHING IF THERE'S NO GOD. It's totally bullshit in my humble opinion.

  • The mixing of instruments right at the end was spectacular!!

  • I absolutely love the oboe solo, my favourite solo, but perhaps (in my opinion) became prominent too suddenly just before there, and disappeared to suddenly afterwards. If that makes sense…

  • One of my favourite performances of my favourite piece of music!

  • @eman0677 Or under lock and key, which is also properly supervised is guilty of a serious crime. I hope this will go some way to explaining to you why I feel the way I do about Heavenly Father. He is a perfect Being, and it follows that He loves us with a perfect love. Although it does not appear that way to many people, who have their own expectations of what is right and what is wrong.

  • We chose to come here and to be tested and to endure to the end, and we were fully aware of the consequences which would follow if we broke our word which we gave to God. We fully embraced His Plan, and the consequences. Hell is to be cut off from the Presence of God. If I were ever to give my child a loaded gun, I would have first trained him or her in the proper use of that weapon, when he or she was of a proper age. Anyone who has a loaded weapon which is not under proper supervision,

  • @Sixalienasa I didn't choose anything. I had as much say in my surroundings as a flea.

  • @AdamWoodhams I feel sorry for you Dude. Are you really so dependant upon chance for your life?

  • @eman0677 As for the analogy of the loaded gun; At the Great Counsel in Heaven, God the Father put forward His Plan of Salvation. All the Souls who will ever live were at that Counsel. We all had a say in what transpired. One Third of all the Children of God the Father choose to side with Lucifer and his plan. The Rest of us choose to side with God the Father and His Plan; which was to send Jesus Christ to Atone for our sins. Satans plan was to take away our free will, but he wanted the glory.

  • @eman0677 They brought it on themselves, they had warnings from Messengers sent from God, and they not only ignored them but stoned them to death. If they choose eternal pain then who am I to stand in their way. If I was to try they would rant and rave about how I am trying to take away their Civil Rights etc. God didnt create good or bad children, He created us all equal. Some choose to do bad and others choose to do right. We are rewarded as to the choices we make. That is the way it is.

  • wow

  • @eman0677 Did HE drown you? He did not drown me. He is my Creator, thats why I go to Him for advice. I am eternally beholding to Him. He caused a Flood to come upon the Earth, but before He did that he warned His children that if they did not turn away from their wicked way of life He was going to send down rains upon the Earth. They were too busy carrying out the commandments of Satan to listen. God will not allow His children to commit wickedness and not account for their deeds.

  • I love the part from 5:00 to 5:50

    It's so epic.

  • no women performers?

  • @BrKT85 The NBC Symphony Orchestra was all "stag" in a much less liberated time.

Even today, some orchestras have few, if any women; the Vienna Philharmonic would be the best example; on a good day they have FOUR women players.

  • I got a joke for this when somebody that u dont like walks in the door turn this on du du du du

  • i found this cuz i read the clockwork orange so now i want to figure out all the stuff he was listening to.... is cool though. im more of a book person but this is still awsome.

  • everybody,,,lighten up....just listen to the beautiful music,,do not worry about other peoples comments.....

  • i am in orchestra and to play like tat u need all the practice u can get cause it HARD to play betthoven song^_^ ^_^ ^_^

  • One of my uncles played for the NBC Symphony when Maestro Toscanini was conductor. The Maestro was demanding of full attention, but he was neither the tyrant nor the prima donna that the press made him out to be. Fluent in four languages, he had a fantastic memory and could conduct most works without a score in front of him. On stage, he didn't indulge in any showmanship; to the unknowing, it looked as though he was bored and unhappy. He was of course exactly the opposite.

  • @TomBarrister Spot on description of the old man. Cheers!

  • Try Furtwangler, he seems to get right inside the piece.

  • 3:08 Star Wars much?

  • who is the conductor of the orchestra....

  • @FeynmanQuantum Roy Schulmann

  • Pretty good, but I still prefer Karajan's interpretation much more.

  • Almost a million views yay :D

  • It makes me sad that this only has 988 thousand views whereas I can look in the sidebar and see a featured video of Lady Gaga with 77 million views.

  • Many thanks for uploading this pristine performance...this was when music required talent. Now, just get into a studio and press some buttons and bob your head, muttering balderdash to pre-recorded beats and bingo! You've done a piece! I choose to stay in those olden days. You can actually tell that the Maestro knew e-v-e-r-y note in his head!

  • Do I need to promote Egypt?

  • oh i love

  • ditto

  • wow they listen to what his hand is commanding them

  • o_O getting good

  • 39 people are gay and don't know good music

  • @technonerd100 I'm gay and a composer of opera and have very good taste in music, such as this and composers like Wagner, Brahms, Bach, etc. :( That was insulting....

  • @violinistx100

I say gay for a lot of things...and i mean dum when i say that...sry if that was insulting

  • that dislike, and dis i like crap,

    is gettin old.

  • count dooku looks unhappy

  • @99bboobb OMG you are fucking right :))

  • @99bboobb looooool XD u just made my day !

  • @99bboobb '???

  • @99bboobb oh my god i fucking lold

  • @99bboobb Who are you referring to?

  • Jesus Christ, Beethoven was touched by God's hands, this is just 2 much 4 d human talent.

  • @waiting4smtin Please do not take th Lords name in vain to try to make yourself look like can feel things deeper than the rest of us. It is a sin to use Gods name in vain. Those who take it in vain risk an eternal punishment.

  • @Sixalienasa wow I can't even see how u'r reply matches my comment. R we even on the same frequency here. what's wrong with saying he had sooo much talent that it's more than a human capability? Taking Lord's name in vain? what r u talkin about? and how did i imply that I feel things better than anybody?

  • @waiting4smtin Your opening uses the Sacred of our Lord Jesus Christ which you are using as an exclamation. Try to get on the same page Dude. Beethoven is my favorite composer, but he had a talent given to him by our Heavenly Father, he is a man, a mortal being. God is eternal, His Son Jesus Christ is also eternal and He is a God like His Father. Using their names is vain is sin, that alos applies to the Holy Ghost, who is like Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ a God.

  • @Sixalienasa save it for the Sunday mass

  • @Sixalienasa save it for the Sunday mass pastor

  • @Sixalienasa I believe that his talent came from within (his life's experiences), and he personally had the perseverance to enable it to come to fruition. Don't you dare take anything away from this man by evoking some spirit to account for his talents, spirit and passion.

  • @AdamWoodhams First and foremost Heavenly Father is not a Spirit, He is a Being of Flesh and Bones, albeit an Eternal Being. Jesus Christ likewise is not a Spirit, He also is an Eternal Being of flesh and bones. They are Parfect Beings, and they gave us life, we are nothing without them. We wouldnt even have the breath which is in our nostrils. I do not evoke God for God is, always was and always will be. The Holy Ghost is a Spirit, ie, He does not as yet have a body.

  • @AdamWoodhams Otherwise how could He enter into our hearts. I dare because it is the truth. That is not to say that he hasnt worked hard at his game, or used the God given talents to the best of his ability, but without God the Father we would all be as the dust. I know you wont believe or accept a word of what I have written. That is OK, I am not here to make you believe, I am only here to testify of the truth. Do with it as you will. Do you ever listen to modern music? Or are you in a timewarp

  • @Sixalienasa The majority of the music that I listen to is modern.

  • Thumbs up if you think Justin Bieber is plotting to destroy all such music, as we speak.

  • بحبها جدا من احلى الموسيقى اللى ممكن نسمعها

  • the 36 are rapped by Lady Gaga feat. Lil Wayne, Snoop Dog and Justin Bieber

  • beehovens was a very sad person to write something like this

  • @lelouchmagnet12 beethoven was deaf. the base line he could hear the vibrations from probably got him pumped!

  • @numsify you're right, im pumped!

  • Sti d'osti, ça d'la passion!

  • @Oulsi Comme la version de Karajan....elle me fait frémir!

  • This man met and saw Mahler conduct. Amazing to think.

  • superb

  • Beethoven must have been so happy when he was listening from above ;)

  • ΓΕΙΑ ΣΟΥ ΡΕ ΜΠΕΤΟΒΕΝ ΛΕΒΕΝΤΗ

  • @MrANTONIOS383 Ennai poli orea pedi mou, ennai geia alla kala geia

  • Unbelievable vitality from someone this old!

  • I love the way he conducts!
