Senator Mondale was a good and decent man who championed fairness, equality, and decency; who wanted Americans to act like responsible, reasonable adults. Reagan told Americans it's okay to think and act like children, which is why he got re-elected. Notice Mondale is concerned about the very problems created by Reagan that we are still dealing with today: cutting aid to the poor, the rich not paying their share of taxes, etc.
@AndreiKrakovsky Encouraging the poor to become educated and freed from the chains of dependency! The rich not paying their fair share? What 100% You mean punishment? Assistance turns into dependency? The left wants government dominance and business shut down. Shut down through excessive taxation. Socialism
@AndreiKrakovsky I am not writing my dissertation. Maybe you were taught by a Union Teacher who's only objective is to dumb down the American youth. You get my point.
Stop deferring from my statement and you state a rational rebuttal. History has shown the result of Reagan's economic policies. Taxation is used by the left as punish and a tool to create dependabnce by shutting down businesses through excessive taxation.
I agree with you that you are not writing your dissertation; in fact, you are barely writing at all! Perhaps if you DID have a union teacher, you would be able to express your ideas in clear, coherent sentences. "Stop deferring from my statement..." Could you please translate that into English for me?
According to the NY Times, "The richest 1 percent of Americans now take home almost 24 percent of income, up from almost 9 percent in 1976." THAT is Reagan's shameful legacy!
I just thought I'd let you know, there's a new Reagan App for iphones/ipads, it gives a random daily thought/quote from the great communicator himself.
How nation's true jobless rate is closer to 22% Last Updated: 6:33 AM, January 12, 2010 John Crudele (John Crudele has been a financial columnist for the New York Post for the past two decades.)
“In his lifetime, Ronald Reagan was such a cheerful and invigorating presence that it was easy to forget what daunting historic tasks he set himself. He sought to mend America's wounded spirit, to restore the strength of the free world and to free the slaves of Communism.” That’s how Lady Thatcher started her great eulogy of Ronald Reagan, summarizing in one sentence his personal qualities and his great achievements.
Walter Mondale seems like a decent man with a good heart. The trouble is, he did not stand a fair chance against the powerhouse Ronald Reagenomic express bus that swept it's way across America in the 1908's with it's strong stance on government deregulation and anti-socialist policies.
There will be others like him. Reagan is the kind of man who came at the right time when the nation was at its lowest. Sure we may night find a man with his charisma, but there are some out there with the kind of integrity, loyalty, determination, wit, experience and intelligence that he possessed, perhaps more.
@BBX118 No you lying propagandist... he was a great orator with a razor sharp wit and love for his country. He didn't need a teleprompter if that's what your implying you kool-aid drinking weasel.
@Steelers26426 We're certainly not seeing it now! I'd like to see whoever runs against the incumbent, "How's that 'HOPE' and 'CHANGE' working for you now!" I'd like to remind people unemployment is 9.2%. That's higher than '08. Forty three cents on every dollar Washington spends in BORROWED. We are in FOUR SEPARATE WARS! We are $14.3 TRILLION in debt! And GAS is twice as high as it was in '08! All these numbers are since NOBAMA took office! NOBAMA HAS 558 DAYS TO GO!
He just wanders and can't keep on topic. Mondale himself was an amazingly dull speaker but at least had brains. Reagan has that smooth--oily smooth, I'd have to say--voice, and sweet touches of optimism, but hollow.
@Interlingua you're a goddamn idiot. even if you don't know a thing about politics you can certainly hear the truth, loyalty, and overall substance in reagan's words. that would be why he won 49 out of 50 states in this election.

I love conservative economic policy. Laissez faire capitalism! Liberty and enterprise, none of these government handouts and welfare bums.

Reagan was a script-reader. Sure he was a great man, but he was also a great actor.

Actually Reagan was known to make his own speeches and scripts.

Reagan was one of the greatest. Now we have a socialist on the democratic side, a true student of Karl Marx.
v1ladimir 3 years ago
How typical of the dead neo-conservative movement. You wouldn't know what a Marxist was if one were eating Fruit Loops on your front porch.

I know what a marxist is..... an excellent target.

Thankyou. Anyone that calls Barack Obama a socialist or a Marxist does not know what one is.

@shotten99 - that's because they are the inheritors of 1960's Marxism.
