When I was 18 I didn't "get" Rush. Now I am 39 and I get it in a big way.The more I listen the more I like. Alex is a fine example of what every serious musician should strive to be.Sucessful,smart,talented,and level headed. Alex is an awesome guitar player, definitely one of the best. His 'downfall' is being in a band with an awesome bassist and drummer where the musical focus is spread among three extremely skilled musicians. In most bands guitar and vocals are the standout roles. In Rush, all roles stand out.

yeah he is a great guitarist and i love his tone he has but there are A LOT of better guitarist than him. Done get me wrong, i love rush and alex but im just saying.

Saying what? Lifeson is the best guitarist at playing Rush music in the world so what are you saying? He plays Rush music. Vai plays Vai's music so how can there be better guitarists unless you bring in more variables...like speed, personal choice, phrasing, sound, style.......into the equation.
You're saying "For me there are guitarists that I prefer to Alex for my own taste.......
But,
There is no best guitarist in the world. Its all personal tatse.

Alex Lifeson is one of the best guitarists rock has ever seen and a completely unsung influence on modern guitar, altogether. He is as significant as any guitarist in modern rock history. A master of his craft.

Alex is a great Rock guitarist...He'll always be one of the best soloists and composer. He also knows how to lock into a solid groove using his own sound, without copying anyone!

Alex is a genius! I've always noticed such an awesome emotional element to his guitar playing- very unique! Also in watching him, he has the softest touch on the strings- unreal talent! Rush rules over all!
