There was no crater because it didn't hit. Most meteors never hit, regardless of how much they look like it. They skim the atmosphere, break up into many pieces (hence the flash), most of which burn up, and the rest continue back out. It's very rare that they ever hit the ground.

I looked out my window when I saw this and went out on my deck to listen for a boom, thinking it was a propane tank. I then looked to the north and saw a plane that flys over our house on the approach path to YEG. I then thought it might be the approach light on the front of the plane as it banked left.
