Hi mate , you could get Weber in 88 , Themodist and also Duo Art. Themodist is just another way of saying "Expression roll" and yes you can play that on any Duo Art player as well.
Hi,i was lucky enough to buy this from a fellow collector who was getting another instrument.Ive had it nearly 2 years now and its just as wonderful today as the day i got it myself.Funny thing is i will probably sell this Pianola in a few years myself as i update my collection to bigger and better things...
I have to say that Ampico and Duo-art have the most rolls available as of todays date.If you check ebay (USA and UK) there is always a numerous amount listed. The Welte rolls are around , but may take a little more hunting but still show up on EBay from to time.I very rarely ever see these rolls listed on Oz Ebay though.
Out of all the Reproduction systems made , the big 3 of the era were *Duo-art ,*Ampico and *Welte. There has been alot of discussions/debate over the years on which one was the best.Been the best that each of those companys could design , there pretty much all very equal.I do hope over time to also add a Ampico and Welte to my collection.
this tune is one of my first favourite cd's i have bought when i was a young kid! I love it. :-)

Nice video, GREAT piano !!

is this just a recording with videos of the piano?
JamesPriceJohnson 2 years ago
The video you see and hear is the piano playing the actual roll.

is it out of sync?
JamesPriceJohnson 2 years ago
I guess you mean the editing? , if so then yes, as i wanted to capture the movements of the player as well as the song :)

98 percent of old uprights sound nothing like this great piano of yours. Lucky you!

@charleslang I agree with you, this piano has a rare richness of tone and clarity :)

That was V interestingJR . Can the paino be played by person with this kit in it now? Has a beautiful sound.
ktjive 3 years ago
Yes it can be played just as a normal upright , the player action does not affect the piano in anyway :)

would you believe that I worked out you lived in australia, not by your name, but by the birds heard in the background.
I didn't expect that.
:P
I'm going to have to search for one of those pianos now.
I imagine the repairing is the hard part.

Hi , you must have good hearing and knowledge to pick out the birds on the background , there not a big bird but can be annoying at times...lol

Such a fine piano and restoration seems top quality, I would love to find a Duo-Art Weber like yours and rebuild it myself.

Dan, Just great! Your rebuilder did a wonderful job.
The Chopin roll shows what a reproducing piano in great condition can sound like. Thanks for posting,
Tom
