I visited 3 years ago. I had heard about the memorial being tacky & in poor taste. Absolutely not. Arrived early, Althorp's setting is very beautiful, the opening exhibit has the overwhelming smell of potpourri made from all of the floral offerings at her death. It is a beautiful stately house but one can see it was also a home. knowledgeable docents, gift shop tasteful & restrained. All in all well worth the trip. I DO feel that she rests in peace on her island.
I too visited Althorpe at the time when they were exhibiting Diana's dresses.A warden told me that once a day Charles Spencer serves in the memorial gift shop,I went in and was humbled to meet the great guy.A lovely sincere person he actually thanked me for making the journey.Huh 'thanked me' I'll remember that day all my life.Ironically I wish I had never had to have gone,poor Diana.

When the ransom was paid, the bodyknappers dumped his remains on the side of the road. And that why Elvis' body was moved to graceland. Thank you for posting this. I had heard after her death describing where she was interred but i had never seen it.
I call her the lady of the lake.
The outpouring of worldwide grief over it still stuns me. I wish someone could take her place as she did good work.
