Yes, I saw this on TV about a week ago... but after watching this, the one that didnt win, looked so scared and the one that did win, looked like she already knew. BUT nevertheless, happy for her. But nothing is like the movie, in my opinion.
What year was this? I saw the play in NY in 1998, and once you've seen the real deal, it was like play stuff to me, way over rated. I prefer the real deal, Olivia and John!
As it turns out Ashley took over the role of Sandy after Laura's contract expired. The show has reportedly been extended until March 2009. Laura was offered the role of Sandy in the National Tour version, but declined. Max is going to Hollywood and Derek is now Danny.
As for Grease, I got to see it in the Easter of 2005/2006, during an EF (European Foundation) Tour Grade 9 trip. Although we had planned to see "Mamma Mia!", it was sold out, so we decided to watch "Grease" in London, England instead. Overall, it was nothing short of amazing!
You are amazingly talented, and I am so happy that you won! I went to see the show in early February; but you were on vacation :(. However, Max and your understudy were both astounding. Perhaps I'll get tickets to go see you :). Congrats again, and I hope one day to perform with you on Broadway!
Interesting! Laura's contract wasn't renewed for Grease, but Ashley's has been renewed twice for Hairspray! Ashley has gotten rave reviews for her performance in Hairspray. She opened on Broadway the same day as Laura!
I agree Ashley is great, but I'm curious. Why wasn't Laura's contract renewed? The critics liked her, some more than Max. But isn't the show closing in November anyway? Hairspray, however, is still going strong. Anyway, I wish Max, Laura, Ashley, and Austin all great success in the future.
i saw hairspray on broadway last week and jesus ashley was amazing...i actually got to meet her...she says she is so happy that she gets to play amber and that she would much rather do Hairspray than Grease...she is amazing
Coongratulations! You so deserve it, wow you're beautiful and your voice is adorable.
I am definately going to NY to watch this summer even though they're gonna choose a cast for London as well which is where I live but I am sure it will be much more fun on Broadway.
If you have time keep posting your work, you've got a fan now though. Marcos.

According to his website he thinks he'll be a better fit in Hollywood and he prefers acting in movies and television to Broadway.
