  • great study music

  • ZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Why are people hating on rap? I'm not going to lie, my preferred choice of music is hip hop, but OLD SCHOOL hip hop, that has meaning, stories, imagery, etc... I HATEEEEEE, with a passion, this new age bullshit that's on the radios, but there is good rap/hip hop out there. But I also love relaxing music, as such. I just love great music. :)

  • @bamfan28 preach it bro. peace and love

  • y do black people like rap now?

  • @BlackCloudBoss calm down fake gangster, dont need to get angry because you dont have any taste of music. and dont try to make comments with your little brain again. now you can move on your useless, fake toughguy life. im sure you cant insult anyone in real life because you are an asocial person.

  • Thank you, sir, thank you, sir.

You have done me good. Something just fipped in me,

    something's been struck.

That sax seems to skirt the very skies!

  • Im so high right now i thought that was a guy singing at the end. XD ♔─══─♔

ⒷⒺⓈⓉ music if ever heard. シ

  • @mjhjbvznziebal I'm so high right now your post made me laugh my ass off

then I saw the 'burning logs in fireplace (1 hour in HD)' video on the right and that was the end of me

  • @JammyT7 Haha! awesome dude.

  • There is not a lot of modern music that has any quality at and nothing to compare with this kind of music. !!!

  • fck yo all with "THUMBS UP IF"! better post nothing...

  • Simply BEAUTIFUL. This IS music. Nowadays so called artist make so called music where physical attributes are worth more than actual talent. Everyone sounds just like the last and uniqueness is a thing of the past. It is absolutely astounding the garbage that is put out today with the title of music by the music industry. My Father is a music teacher and this is what he made sure we heard on a regular basis. I thank him for exposing us to REAL music like this.

  • Magnificent. Celestial. Classic. Sensual. Unfortunately, English is inadequate to express the way I feel about this tune. And I am a musician. To say that they do not make them like this anymore would be a trite understatement. This is one of those "the standard by which" musicianship/art is measured. Timeless. krxn11

  • @KRxN11

I am deffinately with you there. I miss when this music was in it's big 'hey day'. I would have loved to see a real jazz band play live...

  • I still have the old vinyl record with this performance. Love Corky Corcoran's playing and Slam Stewart's playing is so tasteful. Thanks for posting this!!

  • greatest ever? that's a very bold statement, and shows that you probably need to listen to a bit more jazz....no offense.

  • @ethansimon94 You took the words right out of my mouth. Personally, I'm stuck on Ace Relaxation II.

  • @hisholyinquisition Yeah, can't get on that bandwagon...

  • @ethansimon94 Hey, we've all got our own tastes, my man.

  • hey asshole from where to where it is the greatest jazz ever ! it is the wors ever

    fosto papeti is the best

  • This is great. But you should hear Bird's version w/ strings. It's heaven.

  • Great tune. tnxs

  • listen it with full volume n bass

  • Slam Stewart and Major Holley were both amazing bassists who could sing in unison and in harmony with what they were playing on the bass. This is the perfect example of Slam's work for anyone who has never heard him play.

  • Bad ass saxophone

  • Can't we listen to music anymore without you twats comparing it to others or rambling on about your age. Come on... who gives a fuck? No one. Enjoy the music and shut up.

  • @asopaso07 The title of this video is THE GREATEST JAZZ SONG EVER RECORDED, the comparisons to others was done by the person who posted this. Obviously if you post something with a title like that you are going to get some opinions back at you.

  • @psmooth777

You are more than welcome to post your opinion. I was referring to the idiots who go on and on about their age, how everyone in their generation likes ------ but they don't, and they prefer ........ I just feel like these people need to get over themselves and stop trying to make out they are the greatest.

  • @asopaso07 I agree with your "who gives a fuck?" comment. I don't give a fuck either. Anyone who gives a fuck is fucking silly.

  • @lewars1912 You know its possible to voice an opinion without swearing, right?

  • @JosephMSmithMusic My comment was a tongue-in-cheek one to someone who swore, however I agree with you about the swearing and about 99% of my comments on these pages don't have any.

  • cheers for reminding me what music is all about CABEACHBUM.

    xxx

  • The sax is fantasmagoric.

  • this is soooooooooooooo beautiful.............love it..

  • I like the part where this is awesome.

  • @Davidstucke89 Hey twat, shut up nobody really cares what you have to say.

  • @gonotredame40

    lol WIN

  • @gonotredame40 dont be a ninny

  • @Davidstucke89 Don't be a ninny? Ninny must mean the guy that fucks your mom on a daily basis.

  • @gonotredame40 my mom's dead

  • @Davidstucke89 *Fucked

  • @gonotredame40

You are a heartless bastard lol

  • @asopaso07 :]

  • I'm 12 and this song Is the best ever

  • I like this song, it makes me feel like i want to take a stroll somewhere or take a hot bath. I'm 19, and i appreciate jazz very much thanks to my parents.

  • i wish in every bar or cafe such music played! Unfortunately onle few got a taste!

  • i find the good, great & awesome music in rock & metal, but i keep finding the epic music in jazz, makes me feel like just sitting somewhere ,watching the moon, half a glass of red wine in the left, beautiful women in the other.

  • When i listen to this track, i picture a beautiful night with the moon shining brightly reflecting upon a small controlled body of water. Thinking, with a suit and a hat looking out a balcony reflecting upon my accomplishments in life and life, while disregarding the imperfections of this fucked up world. I focus on the pure beauty, and melodic harmonies, as i see the the yellow-mixed-with-orange lights of the providing a breath of fresh air into the night. - Joseph Magsaysay

  • I miss the black guys doing jazz not the rap

  • @powerboy1456 Amen to that!

  • @powerboy1456 fuck you

  • @powerboy1456 ..Ok I will explain how things are.Do you understand there are different genres of music?

Rock,Country,Latin,R&B, Metal etc..Rap music is a genre too.Black and white people make rap music. Also Black and white people make Jazz music.Do you think black guys don't make Jazz anymore? If you look for it you can find it..its not as popular as mainstream music because we live in different times..

Please try to be less ignorant.

  • @powerboy1456

    couldn't agree more

  • People should listen to these kinds of songs not stupid fake celebs songs! Thumbs up if u agree :D

  • @Moearke i agree with yo however i need my red solo cup XD

  • pretty trippy for the 40's

  • @brianz1214 WAY too trippy for the 40s. I just had the most amazing experience with this song o.o!!! Waaah!! I'm stoned as fuckk

  • Introduction de Willie Smith fabuleuse...le plus beau son jamais sorti d'un alto !!!!!

  • The early to mid 20th century had the best motive for the music industry. Everything you listened to was good music and still is. Its way better than most of the stuff today. Now mostly publicity takes over the music industry and looks get you noticed not as much as sound anymore.

  • @IareMikeJones Agreed. Mainstream music is going straight to hell :(

  • @PSG0113 nowadays music makes me want vomiting! Music has ended at the end of 20th century! But i mean are there young people 20-30 who would like to go to a party and listen to such music! Because i dont like celebs songs and i am 24!

  • @IareMikeJones

man i wish there would be like a music revolution or smthing. music from the 20th century has to come back!

  • @daveytjuuh

i mean all the music before the 21th century

  • i love this song<3

  • Everyone is entitled to their own opinion & of course this song is obviously your Jazz favorite. But have you even considered "So What," by Miles Davis & John Coltrane or perhaps "A Night In Tunisia" by Charlie "Bird" Parker & Dizzy Gillespie? This is a very beautiful, smooth jazz tune. Very relaxing & inviting but to say it's the greatest? Hmm. There are many who may disagree, I myself being one. However, once again, this is an awesome tune don't get me wrong. It's just not the greatest. Thanks

  • god dammit' simply awesome!!!

  • try to refrain from airing your opinion in the title, this is good music but who are you to decide this is the greatest jazz ever?

  • @newlagoon i think that everyone who read the title knew it was his opinion

  • Hampton is on xylophone off course. But the sax player really mastered his vibrato and note bending.Just beautiful.Thanx for posting...Enes

  • @IxENESxI Vibraphone

  • @MrEclecticity thanks man.I saw comment under mine and wrote the same myself.hahaha.What are xylophones then. But I did have a chance to play 'vibraphones" and that was fun.Like a piano with big keys but the sticks make it feel like a percussive instrument.I knew piano chords so I actually looked like I knew what I was doing yet I was clueless but so were the ppl watching me;)

  • @IxENESxI I totally agree about the tenor player. Hampton put some fabulous bands together in the early 40s. Huge energy, swinging like mad. He probably needed to cool-off by 1947 and do this small group stuff.

  • @IxENESxI I do love sax player,do you know him? would you give me the name, thanks.

  • and who's on the xylophone?

  • @cuthbertgeorge THAT'S LIONEL HAMPTON -- but don't know who's backing him up, but sounds like Benny Goodman's solo

  • tooo good so much control

  • I have this LP. Bought it very cheaply years ago. Here goes for the personnel. Trumpet is Charley Shavers, Tenor Corky Cocoran, Willie Smith Alto, Slam Stewart on bass and on this track only, Lionel Hampton. It remains one of my favourite records and have transferred it to CD.

  • I like it.

  • Although I wasn't alive during the jazz era I truly miss it.

  • is that coleman hawkins?

  • its just amazing !!

    Wendy Sydney

  • all 7:39 was amazing

  • Oh! yes, this legendary indeed. Great work

  • johnny hodges at alto imho

  • @Beskaius i agree this is johnny hodges on alto!

  • What I meant to say was Willie Smith on alto sax, not The Lion who was a monster stride pianist.

  • The Lion on alto. Willie The lion Smith. Without a doubt, Hamp's greatest masterpiece

  • WHAT THE F IS THIS!

  • the bass solo is the best!

  • My god , this song is something else ...

    amazing saxaphone !

  • Is that an alto?

  • Cabeachbum24792-you said that this is the greatest jazz song ever recorded-

hard to argue- certainly in any top 5 discussion.

  • so cool!!!!!!!!

  • phil85dy the sax player was johnny hodges, trumpet charlie shavers, bass slam stewart

  • philipdy the sax player was johnny hodges, trumpet charlie shavers, bass slam stewart

  • philipdy the sax player was johnny hodges

  • Perhaps the best of all the Stardust recordings (and there were some good ones--Shaw, Louis, Desmond, etc.). It's a shame it's so hard to locate on record. Willie Smith was really the 3rd member of the trinity along with Benny Carter and Johnny Hodges, and Charlie Shavers could play just about everything. Unfortunately, people took Hamp for granted after the 60s, but he slowed down his rotators, played the blues as deep as Bags, and even performed Giant Steps.

  • By Lionel Hampton and His allstar players....Saw him NYC on the street with his vibes, awesome !

  • Who's on the sax ? Is it Willie Smith ?

  • @custardapple777 Yes, I think it is Willie Smith, and yes it is super soulful.

  • @TheLordAmish some one had a orgy

  • truly the best ever my second favorite is it dont mean a thing b duke ellington

  • Great ! I'm 20 years old and i love this music... From russia witch love! Great song

  • Shiz, It Sounds Like Some Animal Is Dying awwwwww!

  • @william1h1bonnie maybe you are the dying animal ...

  • Oh my.. So many emotions in that sax!!! I wish modern people could play with such soul as these people did

  • Gotta love that rotary vibraphone

  • @HAMayoral It is called a vibraphone I think. At least, that's the name in french =]

  • the sax gives me the shivers and brings a slight tear to the eye amazing!!

  • actually, if you compare this song to modern electro style songs, those are very much alike in structure.

    Inspiring track.

  • The saxaphone is AMAZING... WOW

  • @TheLordAmish yeeeah

  • @TheLordAmish its acually a trumpet

  • @Edwardkor It is definitely a saxophone, not a trumpet. You can hear the reedy sound.

  • @Edwardkor Actually, I stand corrected. The intro is a saxaphone, but I believe that after that it is a trumpet. But there is a saxaphone at first, and later on as well, so that is probably what @TheLord Amish was talking about.

  • @TheLordAmish wow i relaxed so much that i have fallen asleep for 1 hour!

  • My mother in law would play this for me when I was newly married. She would just sit and listen and inspire me with it, telling me about back in the day. I'm older now too and wish I had been there to witness this.

  • wonderful performace, so true so telling, it is amazing what they do on this standard they tear it up.

  • thank you very much for finding that very fine record from my yong years. It is so good and silent with good artists, who had also great houmor. Perhaps the best of Lionel.

    Kjeld , denmark

  • @kjeldhoejfeldt you spelled young wrong. Sorry I just had to say it.
