  • Nice tnak!

  • No fishes. I had one Beta in there at some time. My focus was the plants. I did add a few more fish toward the end of the tank's life but algae bloomed after that. I dismantled the tank and upgraded to a larger one.

  • what plant is on the right?

  • Hi. Not sure which one you are referring to. On the right side front, there's Baby Tears. Then, there's a couple of stems of Proserpinaca palustris, the scissor-like leaves with reddish stems. In the right hand side background, there's a bunch of Water Wisteria. The Baby Tears and Wysteria were fast growers but the Palustris was tricky for me. It didn't do well.

  • Excellent! Do you still maintain it like that now?

  • Hi. Sorry for the long time in reply. I don't have this aquarium anymore. I upgraded to a 20 gallon that wasn't as successful as this previous one. I'm glad I took pictures while I had it going.

  • such a beautiful tank i might get a tiger lotus thanks for the inspiration

  • hay, I'm starting a tank such as this and was curious as to what the plant is called in the back right hand corner of the page... your tank is beautiful by the way.

  • I apologize for the long time in reply. The plant with the red stems and scissor-like leaves is called Proserpinaca palustris. It was very hard to maintain and I can't remember where I found it. The greener plant directly in the back right hand corner is water Wysteria.

  • Hi I have a question? do you ever clean it out with a sipon. I have about 5 neon tetras in my planted tank and i was wondering if I should clean the gravel.

     THANKS!!!!!!!!!

  • I didn't vacuum the bottom. The tank had only one fish in it for a long time.

  • nice detail

  • that has to be more than a 10 gallon. very very pretty tank. really good job. you must work hard at it.

  • Hi, thanks for the comments. Sorry for the long time in reply. It actually is a 10 gallon aquarium. I have more pictures on my web site which should give you better perspective.

  • hey you add co2 dont you?

  • Yes, I use DIY bottles and a CO2 reactor.

  • btw. how much gravel do u have?

  • Hi there, The substrate was about an inch and a half thick.

  • dude ive been searching for a video that shows the growth of plants over time... thanks for making this! :D

  • What are the leafy red plants in the corner called? They're gorgeous!

  • It's Alternanthera reineckii and just on the right of it is a Red Rubra, sometimes I see it sold as a Tiger Lotus. Anyway, the reineckii seems to require good fertilizers and good light.

  • hey what kinda light you using? and substrate :] really nice set up

  • Hi there. The substrate is mostly commercial potting soil with a tad bit of clay and red flint. I use aquarium gravel to cover it all up. Careful with clay. It clouds the water for a long time.

  • this is nice
