No fishes. I had one Beta in there at some time. My focus was the plants. I did add a few more fish toward the end of the tank's life but algae bloomed after that. I dismantled the tank and upgraded to a larger one.
Hi. Not sure which one you are referring to. On the right side front, there's Baby Tears. Then, there's a couple of stems of Proserpinaca palustris, the scissor-like leaves with reddish stems. In the right hand side background, there's a bunch of Water Wisteria. The Baby Tears and Wysteria were fast growers but the Palustris was tricky for me. It didn't do well.
Hi. Sorry for the long time in reply. I don't have this aquarium anymore. I upgraded to a 20 gallon that wasn't as successful as this previous one. I'm glad I took pictures while I had it going.
hay, I'm starting a tank such as this and was curious as to what the plant is called in the back right hand corner of the page... your tank is beautiful by the way.
I apologize for the long time in reply. The plant with the red stems and scissor-like leaves is called Proserpinaca palustris. It was very hard to maintain and I can't remember where I found it. The greener plant directly in the back right hand corner is water Wysteria.
Hi I have a question? do you ever clean it out with a sipon. I have about 5 neon tetras in my planted tank and i was wondering if I should clean the gravel.
Hi, thanks for the comments. Sorry for the long time in reply. It actually is a 10 gallon aquarium. I have more pictures on my web site which should give you better perspective.
It's Alternanthera reineckii and just on the right of it is a Red Rubra, sometimes I see it sold as a Tiger Lotus. Anyway, the reineckii seems to require good fertilizers and good light.
Hi there. The substrate is mostly commercial potting soil with a tad bit of clay and red flint. I use aquarium gravel to cover it all up. Careful with clay. It clouds the water for a long time.
Nice tnak!
