Yeah, I am more of a composer than a digital artist. Check out some of my music videos when you get a chance. I use Sony Acid Pro as a multitracker and looper, then add my own guitars, keyboards, voice, etc. Thanks!
Some would say "No"; others have been kinder. Take a look at my music videos on my channel and tell me honestly what you think (I suggest my song "Fine").
You have some nice models in here, I really liked the instruments,
For those of you to learn Lightwave pick up the book Essential Lightwave v9. It covers pretty well everything you need to get a very good handle on the program as well as coming with some neat plugins.
Modeling is definately my favorite thing to do in Lightwave. I appreciate the comments. It's true, a good text can get you through many tough times. This program is DEEP. I've barely scratched the surface.
Yeah lightwave is a brilliant program, and I can appreciate the detail some of you models have as I know what its like to sit for hours tweaking and surfacing to get it just so.
Yes. There is a very large learning curve to any 3D software program. I would suggest starting with a good 2D program like Photoshop first. It will introduce you to many things you can carry over to a 3D application. Like anything worth doing, it is worth the effort! Good luck. ~Jon
Not a bad idea. Most 3D software companies will allow you to preview their products with some limitations (no save capabilities or reduced quality). That way you can "shop around" to see which suite best suites your interests.
Hi! i liked alot your animations, but ive got some questions if you dont mind what type of surfacing you use to create the glass? ive been trying but dont get the cool effect and also, where can i get some nice wood surfaces? :p
Honestly - it has been so long since I made that glass that I cannot remember! I suggest this book: "1001 Tips & Tricks" by Beckwith, Warner and Wood (Wordware Publishing). It has helped me so much. As far as surfaces, I suggest Photobucket or Flikr. You can usually find great textures in hi-res formats. Good luck and thanks!
actually horse if u register lightwave for the trial it gives u everything the discovery version of lightwave gives u limited options so u can use it without a limit but u cant use as many tools and designing options as u can when ure 30 day trial is activated
newtek's lightwave is by far on of the best 3D software i have ever used. its a close competition between lightwave and softimage. the big difference is in softimage, its all in on program, where lightwave has modeler and layout. but i like lightwave considering you can push things farther than just 100% and thats great to use with endomorphs. Grats on the animation. everything looks great.
It sounds to me as though you are better versed in the benefits of Lightwave. I do not use it enough anymore to speak authoratively about it. All I know is that it is a BIG time gobbler... but I love it! Thanks! ~Jon
well, i must admit, i just started lighwave, im serious this day, this night... and i youtube'd to see whats going on, who has done what, and i admire you're work seriously ;P, ors its because im new, but, please tell me how to make texts on objects, and the object falling into the water was pretty cool, please reply i really want to know those, i pretty much got almost everything what's in lightwave.. almost like 30% =) because its a lot more in menu tools, that arent there thx! -kici-
Lightwave is such a deep program. I tend to forget it if I don't use it daily. There is the text tool to create text with but you first must load up several fonts to choose from. I create the text on its own layer so I can manipulate it seperately from any other object. You can extrude it to give it bulk and bevel it to give it more pronounced edges (picks up the light better). Check out the very good guidebook I mentioned in the previous response above. It helped me immensely! Thanks!
I'm afraid you are asking the wrong person. I can barely grasp all I have learned! As far as rendering it to an AVI... it has been a while since I did these. I suggest a good book such as "1001 Tips & Tricks" by Beckwith, Warner and Wood (Wordware Publishing). It got me through a lot of problems. Thanks!
Well, let's see... you are 15 and I am 47! I would say YOU have the lead in that you are starting at a much younger age than I. By the time you are my age you will be Chief Animator at PIXAR! Thank you for your nice comments. Jon
I have a 14 year old whom I am trying to get interested in LightWave. He does excellent on Photoshop and he is a great artist. He would also love to work on video games or do something in Anime.
I try to tell you how I feel when listening to it: I'm tipping with my feet to the rhythm and I feel like dancing. The bass makes me feel like it is all warm outside, like a nice summer day. My thoughts are spinning and I want to think about so many things but I can't cause the music always makes my body move so that thinking isn't possible. It also makes me think of a crowd of people walking through the streets (all dancing xD). Hope I could help you a bit.
The dancing part is good. I envisioned people going through their day-to-day routines, making them dance as they do so would be even better! Thanks for some inspiration. Jon

And how?

Awesome! I make some music with Fruity Loops Studio, but I never add voice and stuff.
MagnusRulerHardt 2 years ago
Adding some live sound really helps to take away from the "robotic" quality of a loop based program. Try it sometime, I think you will agree.

It's not easy, but Lightwave is said to be the easiest of the "big" packages.
LWaver 3 years ago
the problem with buying lightwave at a store is that they all cost over $400 and they cost up to $1500
dhenry178 3 years ago
dhenry178
and your point is?
$895 (suggested retail price for 9.6 with pdf manuals or $995 with printed manuals) for a 3d package as feature packed as lightwave that's DIRT cheap
maya for instance is $4995
3ds max is $3495 (no way on earth is max nearly 4 times the package of LW)

If you use the newer version of LW (9.2 +) you can use the Dielectric node for glass. You don't need air polys or switches. It's really nice.

It must be much easier to use. Unfortunately I neither have the time or money to pursue this side interest too deeply. Thanks.
