@opisex The entire bottom cover can be removed (by releasing a latch in the battery compartment) which exposes all components - HDD, RAM, wireless card(s), APU and heatsink assembly. Mine shipped with a 320GB HDD, which I replaced with a 120GB Intel SSD. Since this can be configured-to-order, a preinstalled SSD is an option.
If you need something small for traveling, get one of these. It's better than most Intel-atom based systems. One thing I noticed was HP downgrading the baseline APU from an E350 to an E300. That's not exactly a good business practice. Haven't tried out games, but I expect to play most older games at moderate-low settings.
@CopyrightPropaganda Spec wise, moving the base config to the e300 is a slight downgrade, only in clock speed. It does move the system forward from the Zacate to the Brazos platform, however, and gives the e450 as a configurable upgrade for $25.
@TehhBlaze The most graphically-intensive game that I play on it is Minecraft, and it runs just fine. I've seen lesser netbooks run WoW without too much issue, so I would imagine it would do fine with that as well. Don't expect it to run Crysis, though.
@splendidsquirrel It has an HDMI out, but I see your point with regards to the clickpad and fan. In all honesty, the clickpad isn't all that bad under Windows 7. I'm running Ubuntu 11.04, and if it weren't for the multitouch support (2- and 3-finger taps = right and middle clicks, respectively) it would be unuseable instead of annoying. For doing *any* sort of gaming (including simple flash games) an external mouse is a must have.
@mmagos Hi, I'm planning to buy a new laptop in a few days, this was my first option but I think I will get easily annoyed because of the fan noise, could you suggest another notebook for me?
Greetings from Sweden. Thanks for a great vid. HP is releasing the dm1z in March/April here in Europe, will definitely buy one. A question though: How loud is the fan on this? Is it disturbing? Have had HP:s earlier which have been quiet while others have been extremely loud.
The only thing a isee bad is that door panel for the ethernet. I use ethernet connection at work everyday and that door panel dangling is going ti be annoying.
Hello all, Iw ant to buy this through third party who gonna ship this to me in korea. as this is not available here. For that matter I need the rough estimate of the box L*W*H and weight of the box So that I may calculate the shippment cos :)
@ComradeNF Didn't really buy it for gaming, but there is a review on NotebookReview that compares it with the 1215N. The bottom line was that the GPU didn't perform quite as well as the ION-2, but CPU-intesive games performed better on this than the 1215N.
As for battery life, I reliably get between 6-7 hours.
@mmagos I'm sorry, but it looks like you didn't review your data correctly. I'm 100% Positive that the 1215N has an ION-2 GPU. Look it up on NewEgg. If that isn't enough, I'd be glad to post a picture.
@ComradeNF ?? Not sure what you're referring to, but I'm well aware that the 1215N has an ION-2 GPU. Maybe you didn't parse my reply.
To be more clear, the ION-2 beats the Radeon HD 6310 (the on-die graphics on the e-350) performance-wise. However, the e-350 cpu beats out any of the Atom processors.
nice video. mine finally came in after 2 1/2 weeks. battery life is good on this laptop and laptop feels solid! i find this laptop is not quiet at all! even after putting the coolsense on "quiet mode" i still found it loud.
ive been waiting for mine forever.. its still in production bahh..
its looks bigger than i wanted.. i was looking for a netbook with a lot of battery life, but then i heard about the magic this processor can do so i decided to buy this

Eh? The E300, E350, and E450 are all in the Zacate family.

you forgot the Kensington lock!
I'll probably buy one if they add HDMI, improve the trackpad, and relocate the fans

@lechampiones dm1z is a series. DM1-XXXX is for prebuilt models and dm1-3000 CTO is a customizable model

i saw this notebook yesterday! i want it now!!!
Quick question: this notebook does have heat issues?
fanoultimatev3 11 months ago
According to the DM1 3000AU, the loudness is due to the 7200 spin hard drive.

@robert4you The fan is noticeable, and gets especailly loud when the video card is under load. Probably the only downside to this machine.

@DJTEVAdotCOM
Break off the door panel covering the ethernet connection, then. PRESTO, now it's uncovered like the rest of the ethernet ports you're used to.
By the way, research Cara Baez.
Thanks.

I still waiting for mine. I chose this over the disappointing Sony YB model. This is by far the best Fusion with fully loaded specs at a good price.

I have the 1215N running a Nvidia ION-2 GPU. How does this compare? What's the battery life on this model, and how is gaming on it?
I tried MW2 and found it to be unplayable, but CoD4 was very playable on the ION-2

@abeijon100 It's kind of deceiving - the thing is only an inch or two larger than its smaller cousin, HP Mini 210.
mmagos 1 year ago
Too bad you didn't show the size of the power supply. Seems bulky, or is it just the packaging?
ilembitov 1 year ago
@ilembitov It's a little bulky, considering the size of the notebook: 4.25" x 1.75" x 1.125"
Certainly bigger than the one for my EeePC, which measures 3.5" x 1.375" x 1"
